First off — this place is LOUD. It’s pretty difficult to have a conversation here without yelling so brace yourself for that. Also, despite having a reservation we still waited another 15 – 20 minutes before we were seated. The staff was really kind though and took the time to check up on us and keep us updated on our table while we waited. They also brought us some free dessert! As for the food — I got the rigatoni which was really flavorful and also supplied my lunch the next day too!

I don’t get it. I don’t understand why everyone loves this place so much. Yes, they have gluten free options which is great except that I’m not gluten intolerant. Yes, they have a diverse menu but I have a refined enough palate to not need 50+ options. Yes, they’re BYO(thank GOD because I need all the wine in the world to deal with the noise level). Yes, they have a kind staff — I will give them that, they are nice and do a great job of rattling of their specials(which seem to be the same each time I go). I realized on my last visit, that I am never the one to make the reservation; I have always found myself here because someone else thought it was the greatest place around. Then I have to fight myself from telling them that they’re wrong and swallow my thoughts while making my way through yet another mediocre meal. Last Friday I found myself here for a friends husband’s birthday and while I know that Giorgio has his favorite dish in the city and it was his birthday, I noticed that I was almost obsessively checking the time to see if we were any closer to leaving. The restaurant was incredibly noisy, it seems as though all of the groups are placed in the upstairs area which escalates the noise level as each group is trying to overtalk the group next to it. I truly felt bad for any of the restaurant goers on the first floor trying to enjoy their meal as the insane amount of chatter had to have spilled over into their dining room. If I were trying to have a romantic dinner date with my boyfriend, I probably would have asked to grab the check and go elsewhere. For those of us squeezed into the upstairs area like packed sardines, it was claustrophobic and outrageously hot. There is only one AC unit and it is located closest to the stairs on the way back out. I was so uncomfortable before my meal and even more«meh» about the experience after having eaten. We ordered the gnocchi to start which was in a really delicious and not terribly heavy boar ragout. The gnocchi was a little dense, but it was potato, not ricotta so I let it slide… at least it wasn’t gummy. For my entrée I ordered the veal with spinach(please all of you vegetarian/vegan folks don’t lecture me on the inhumane nature of veal cattle raising). The veal itself was dry and bland, though the white wine sauce did provide some saving taste. The fact that the«side vegetable» was collared greens thoroughly confused me — mostly because my dish was already served with greens. It was a nice touch that they included 3 sharable desserts on the house for a birthday with a $ 550+ dinner tab, but aside from that I found that this and other more recent visits to be incredibly lackluster.

We came here for a end of year dinner, and I honestly loved this place. Depending on who you’re with and where you sit the experiences can be completely different. If you sit next door you’ll end up having a more rowdy evening as it’s mostly group dinners, and if you sit in the main room it’s the more romantic classy Italian evening. The service was amazing. The food came out quick for a large group. The appetizers were delicious. The gnocchi was amazing, with a portion size so large I couldn’t finish even though I wanted to(add marinara on top to make it taste even better). We ordered all the desserts and I couldn’t get my fork away from the chocolate fudge-esque dessert. So glad we came here

Always amazing service. I have eaten here multiple times with large groups and the service has always been excellent. My last time eating here I called multiple times to change the group size and they were always accommodating and helpful. Food is delicious and arrives very quickly.

Casual restaurant serving up quality Italian food. I must admit, I can be pretty particular with my Italian food, because nothing beats your home made family meals, but this was VERY good, and I will be returning. The restaurant itself is pretty small, and yes, like the other reviews said, can be very loud. Definitely get a reservation and bring a big bottle of wine and you will be fine. For an appetizer, I split the caprese salad with a friend and it was great, can’t go wrong with this. I tried the Spaghetti Primavera with white wine garlic sauce and it was delish. Great mix of seasonal veggies and the sauce was very light but full of flavor. We were too full to order dessert but there were plenty of options, so be sure to leave room. Service was very good as well… all around a good experience!

this place is SO delicious! it’s very classic Italian food with nothing too inventive but it is executed so well. we started with the mussels and clams appetizer and had to keep requesting more bread to finish the sauce it was in because it was insanely good! next came the chicken parmesan and gnocchi which were both so good that we purposely held off on finishing them entirely in order to save room for dessert and have left overs. :) we ordered the chocolate cake but were torn by the crème brûlée and our server brought us both! which we were soo happy they did because the cake was perfectly light and the crème brûlée was perfectly creamy! oh and it’s BYOB and the prices are very reasonable so all 3 courses only came out to around $ 60! this place gets packed though so I definitely recommend a reservation. also, because it’s so busy the energy is very high so probably not the best intimate atmosphere if that’s what you’re looking for.

We just had a delicious dinner at Giorgio in Pine. Emily, Anne and Terri’s birthday dinner on Friday, May 27, 2016. The first time all three families got together to celebrate all three birthdays. Giorgio personally greeted us at the door and checked on us during dinner too. The staff was super nice. They brought out bread with olive oil and roasted garlic. It was delicious. I had the pasta special with sausage. Again it was delicious. They were so kind as to send out three plates of desserts for the birthday girls. Thank you Giorgio on Pine for a great memory with our amazing friends! We can’t wait to re-visit!

This cute Italian spot is located right In the heart of Philly. It’s packed when it’s a full house but that’s the way it should be if it’s good Italian! We started with the prosciutto app with seasonal fruit and it was delicious!(A little more would have been perfect). For my entrée I got the pesto pasta with shrimp and tomatoes, it was amazing. We had a great night and I can’t wait to come back with friends! *BYOB*

We actually ate at the pizza place next door as our large party couldn’t fit at the main restaurant due to the graduations being late. They provided the same menu as it’s owned by the same group, which we were very appreciative. The service was really good and the waiter new the menu very well. I had the veal with prosciutto which was pretty good. I enjoyed my wife’s parmesan crusted chicken better. BYOB with no corking fee. Good price for the amount of food. Would go again and try something else.

I want to personally thank Giorgio for hosting the best birthday dinner party a girl could ever ask for!!! We were sat in the front corner surrounded by all. nothing like feeling like the center of attention for your birthday. Our waitress was friendly and patient with us the entire night. We ordered the Prosciutto Platter(Thin sliced prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, and seasonal fruit) as an appetizer — $ 11. It was Delicious! The homemade complementary bread is also a winner. They have olive oil with roasted WHOLE garlic pieces in it for you to dip your bread in… i mean COMEON. For dinner three of us ordered from the specials for the evening, the others from the actual menu. When i say everyone loved their food i mean it! WEALLLOVEDITALL! Their pasta here is out of this world. my god you can’t go wrong with any pasta option. i tried a little bite from everyone’s plate: p Giorgio himself checked on us 3 different times one of which he sat down with us and made us laugh telling us about Love and never settling and just making us feel at home. My birthday dessert was complimentary(thank you!) and it was an amazing three layer chocolate cake. We ordered 5 desserts for the table. needless to say the plates were cleared in .2354 seconds hahah i can’t wait to come back and enjoy another fabulous meal here. thank you thank you thank you!

Due to the solid reviews, I went to Giorgio with great excitement. An authentic Italian BYO with homemade pasta in a nice part of town? Sign me up! Unfortunately, the rest of my party and I were all disappointed with it in basically every aspect(except the staff, who were delightful). The food was rather bland(which I’ll cover more below), it was cramped, and the volume was overwhelming. I’d read reviews here on Unilocal that the restaurant was loud, but I’d heard that before and wasn’t too worried. I was blown away with how loud it was. It was easily the noisiest restaurant I’d ever sat in. If you are absolutely set on coming here, avoid it in a family setting. This is not a place to come with a date and a bottle of wine. It’s a place to come with a huge party and a handle of Popov vodka. The food: –The bread came with olive oil with roasted garlic. The bread wasn’t anything special, but the oil w/garlic was wonderful. The cloves of garlic were so soft you could spread them on the bread with a spoon(which I would definitely recommend). –Prosciutto platter appetizer: Quite delectable. The thinly sliced prosciutto was nicely cured and oily. The fresh mozzarella was salty and delicious. The cantaloupe was standard, but balanced the palate well. This dish was the highlight of the night. –Grilled Caesar salad: A nice twist on a pretty standard dish(in that it was grilled), but it was rather generic otherwise. It’s just a big head of lettuce grilled with caesar dressing and parmesean cheese. –Salad off the specials menu: Lettuce, tomatos, fresh mozz, balsamic dressing. Extremely bland and unappetizing. Even the mozzarella was weak. –Ahi tuna off specials menu: Seared tuna had very little flavor. Spinach and potatoes were similarly unspiced. –Sweet potato gnocchi off specials menu: Came with alfredo sauce. Again, very bland. –Parmesan crusted pork chop: This dish was actually not bad(but nothing worth writing home about) –Fettucini w/calamari & shrimp in pesto alfredo sauce(off specials menu): The dish was better than the other pasta, but left something to be desired in terms of flavor

By far the best BYOB/restaurant in Philadelphia. Any city in America would be lucky to have Girgio on Pine. Everything on the menu is amazing, and Girgio adds a personal touch that seems to have been lost by every other restaurant around. Can be a bit loud, but it’s simply a side effect of everyone having fun. If you haven’t gone — go.

Always good. Great staff. Great Menu. I don’t like Caesar Salad & I always have to order the Grilled Caesar Salad. It’s grilled & marvelous. Lots of times when it’s busy you can see Giorgio out front handing out Bruschetta to people outside. Whatever the special is, order that. Handmade Pasta. Gluten Free Options. BYOB. They support Dining out for Life every year.

This is THEPLACE to host a large dinner party! My first visit to Giorgio’s was for a friend’s birthday dinner last year. We had a reservation for 10 people and were seated and taken care of right away in the front room. My second visit was for a friend’s going-away party, and that was for a party of 14. Most recently, I organized a birthday dinner for my best friend and needed a place that would accommodate a party of 25. Giorgio’s was the only restaurant I called that 1) did not have a buyout fee 2) was willing to host such a large group and 3) did NOT require a pre-fixe! This was awesome for those who wanted to save some money and simply order off the menu vs. paying a fixed $ 40+tip+tax. Giorgio was so great on the phone and assured me that he would do all he could to arrange the tables in the back room to fit all 25 of us, which made my life SO much easier. The food was amazing as per usual, although it did take about 1.5 hours for it to come out so everyone was starved by 9:45(but I supposed there was 25 of us…). If you like flavorful, meaty pasta, I highly suggest the rigatoni. The pork special of the night was also amazing, as was the seared ahi tuna! Also, it is BYOB and they’re really great about offering to chill your cake/wine/beer beforehand if you like! Fun ambience(a bit loud) and wonderful family feel — nothing but praises for this place!

The gnocchi was amazing! It’s been a week and I’m still thinking about it. So light and fluffy and delicious. We asked for the sauce to be made slightly spicy and that added a nice kick. The portions are pretty large so you can easily share two dishes between three people. Everything is made fresh so if you have any dietary restrictions or simply don’t like a certain ingredient, they will happily accommodate you. They start you off with some bread and olive oil with roasted garlic in it which was also pretty good. The waitstaff was also extremely friendly and helpful.

I went with my roommate to Giorgio on Pine for her birthday dinner. We were running a little late(due to inability to park on a Friday night) and we called the restaurant to inform them that we would be a little late. The host that answered the phone was so sweet, and even gave us a recommendation on places to park that he was familiar with(and knew that people tend not to know you could park there). Needless to say, he was right, and we found a parking spot immediately once we looked where he had mentioned. The restaurant is a small little place with seating all around. We went early enough where there were not many people in the restaurant, so the noise level was at a minimum. I could see this as a potential problem had we made a reservation later in the evening. The waiter we had was so incredibly enjoyable — he made great suggestions, joked with us, and made sure that we enjoyed every portion of the meal as much as possible. He even ended our meal with a complimentary tiramisu(which was great!) First, we were given delicious freshly baked bread with a side of roasted garlic cloves and olive oil(which was great!) Then, we started off with the prosciutto platter which comes with prosciutto(drizzled with good EVOO, salt and pepper), along with fresh homemade mozzarella(which you could EASILY tell was homemade) and some slices of cantaloupe. The entire dish was fantastic. I ordered the special of the day which was a fettuccini in a tomato cream sauce with shrimp, calamari, kale, and peas. This dish was phenomenal — the portion was enormous, and I had at least half of the plate to take home. When reheated, it was still just as delicious. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant to people who want authentic Italian dishes that are fairly priced.

Pretty good place. Authentic Italian food. Super packed– we had reservations at 10pm on a Friday night. Service was excellent and waitress was extremely helpful whenever we needed something. Their specials were to die for– I would check those out before the menu. The veal is also very good, a little tough for my liking but still good. The tomato/mozz app was also delicious. Love that it is BYO! Would go back again soon.

I thought this is about a standard Italian BYOB in Philly. The bread trust serve is somewhat stale and at room temperature. I love when places have warm bread. One thing that is unique is they provide roasted garlic olive oil to dip your bread! For our meals, we ordered the gnocchi and the spaghetti a la vodka. The gnocchi was good and fluffy. It came with a braised beef ragu that’s been cooking for over 12 hours. The flavor is good, but wasn’t anything extraordinary. The spaghetti was also good, but wasn’t memorable. It came with shrimp, broccoli smothered in a vodka sauce. Overall, not a bad place, but I felt like people were on top of each other as it felt cramped. Not a bad BYOB and offers gluten free items. I’d probably prefer going to la viola over this.

Absolutely amazing experience. The owner is super personable and friendly. A bit crowded and a small place, but the staff is so on point and friendly that you hardly notice and the the service doesn’t miss a beat! I also adore that this place is a BYO, plus the prices are so reasonable! Everyone at our table had a delicious, large portioned meal, for a pretty reasonable cost! Some friends and I came for a girls night out/celebration. When we arrived, our table wasn’t quite ready(not a long wait at all, just a short delay), but the owner was very apologetic and sent over free bruschetta once we were seated. Of course, we didn’t mind waiting a few minutes for the table before us to leave, but it was very nice and very much appreciated that the owner went out of his way to make sure we were okay and sent something over to make up for the wait. I had a special of the evening that was highly recommended by our server: Linguine with a creamy pesto sauce and calamari and shrimp! Oh. My. Gosh! So good!!! My friend had the sweet potato gnocchi, which I kept stealing bites of… amazing! Another friend had the mussels and someone else had soup and pasta with the pesto sauce… everyone left the meal feeling totally satisfied! Side Note: they also have a Gluten free menu, which is awesome for anyone you may know with dietary restrictions! I ended up taking some leftovers home, and my boyfriend and I ate everything about 20 minutes after I got home. He can’t wait come to Giorgio and experience it for himself, and I cannot wait to go back! I would say this is a Philly must try! Especially for a date or a get together with some friends!
