After seeing a posting on UWishUNu, my boyfriend and I decided to check out Future Sensations. It was free and was only exhibiting in four cities– and Philly was one of them! How could we not at the very least check it out? We headed over on Wednesday night and scored some free meter parking(Make it A Night Wednesday) and walked over to the Oval. The place was packed and there wasn’t much direction, so we hopped in the back of a line. It ended up being the line for the«Vision» exhibit. After waiting 40 minutes(this was the point where I wished we had done more research and purchased VIP tickets, no lines), we made it to the font. We were pushed into a big black box with about 30 other people where we stood for 2 minutes. Lights went crazy and random images played on the walls. There were four other exhibits which we decided to skip since the lines were so crazy. In addition to the exhibits there was also a Yards beer garden. I’m still not really sure what the exhibit was supposed to be, but it was an interesting experience and a free night out.

Future Sensations is cool and all, but I’m not quite sure I get it. Admittedly, my two visits so far have been after a few brews and I haven’t read up at all on the exhibition. There are five parts to the exhibit that represent a different sense. With each part comes a new line to wait in. The whole experience actually really reminded me of Disney World. Between the lines, the futuristic lights and loud speakers, it was like Disney traveled to Philly. I think it impresses me the most that this exhibit is in Philly and this is the only US stop(I believe). At one point during my visit yesterday I wrote Future Sensations off a bit, but a friend reminded me that this is a pop-up event. I have to give it more credit since it’s not a permanent attraction. The lights are cool, but the whole thing is just a little trippy. I feel like I’ve seen stuff like this before at amusement parks/planetariums. Between my two visits, I’ve experienced everything except the dome closest to the Art Museum. I’ll probably go back one more time to try to have one full experience. Luckily I was able to get a VIP pass from Saturday so I’ll be able to go directly to the front of the line. To be honest, I never heard of Saint Gobain before this exhibit. Then yesterday I saw an article of greater involvement in the Philadelphia area. This is strictly my hypothesis but exhibit and involvement probably isn’t a coincidence. It’s a nice touch that the Oval reopened their beer garden and called in the food trucks. Be warned the regular Oval activities are weather permitting. I was looking forward to trying the beer Yards created for Saint Gobain, but the beer garden closed last minute yesterday due to rain. Cool and unique? Yes. Worth going out of your way for? Probably not.

Crazy hot inside each exhibit. No AC/no fans and trapped inside a box for about 2 mins with a chunk of people. Avoid on a hot day. They do provide umbrellas to use as shade and paper fans to cool you down while waiting in line. Skip the«listen» one unless you want to listen to planes, garbage trucks, and organ music.

I attended«Light Up the Parkway Party» on 5÷30÷2015. Yup, I was one of those 1,000 lucky bastards that got the VIP-treatment. Thanks Michelle P for hooking me up with an extra ticket!!! I got a VIP-wristband, that guaranteed me a Fast-Pass access to the pavilions for the entire duration of the exhibition. Also, a FREE Yards draft beer for those who enjoy beer. Facts about the ephemeral exhibit: — Saint-Gobain’s 350th anniversary. — It is free to visit. Don’t miss out on this one– of-a-kind experience! — The exhibit consists of 5 temporary pavilions. PAVILION(1) THELOOK: A mirror and LED show. With a taste of the infinite, this one was the coolest, and easily the most impressive experience. 3 minute show. PAVILION(2) THELISTEN: All sound experience. Keep ur eyes close, and go inside the sound insulated cube. Just listen. 3 minute. PAVILION(3) THECOLOR: Freestanding carousal. I couldn’t experience it, because they had to shut it down temporary. It was inhospitable to people with physical disabilities. However, it should be resolved by the morning of the next day. PAVILION(4): THECREATE: Musical Laser Light Show. 3 minute show. PAVILION(5): THEDISCOVER: The 70ft Dome was designed exclusively for the city of brotherly love exhibit. The dome offered a 360° video for 10 minutes. Philadelphia is not in the shadow of New York City. Four and half Unilocal
