History

Established in 2015.

Fishtown Animal Hospital was founded by Dr. Lauren Cohn, DVM, CVA. Following graduation from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2011, Dr. Cohn completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital in Tinton Falls, NJ. She then went on to complete a specialty internship in Radiation Oncology at the University of Pennsylvania. She simultaneously earned her Certification of Veterinary Acupuncture (CVA) and Traditional Chinese Medicine at the Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Florida.

Fishtown Animal Hospital emphasizes the importance of the human-​animal bond. Utilizing a combination of conventional and alternative medicine, we facilitate long-​term relationships between companion animals and their families.

Ohhhhhh my love for Fishtown continues to grow…
I emailed the website to make an appointment, they promptly responded and I was able to bring my cat in 2 days later. The staff was very helpful and kind. I really love the office too — clean, contemporary with minimal old-​timey medicinal kitch. Dr. Cohn has a wonderful bedside manner; she was cool, collected and I felt like we could be pals outside of work.

Wow! This place is awesome! My boyfriend and I recently adopted a stray cat, and yesterday we brought her to Fishtown Animal Hospital for her very first vet appointment – several of our friends recommended it. The staff was kind and caring and had a great manner with our little Ernestine. We had a lot of questions about some of Ernestine’s behaviors, and the best ways to take care of her, and the type of food to feed her, and the amount of food to feed her (I’ve never had a cat before…). Dr. Cohn and the technician, Chrisann, answered all of our questions and demonstrated the best way to administer the medication we have to give our cat. On top of the caring nature of the staff, the space itself is spacious and clean.
I received a follow-​up email this morning from Chrisann, checking in to see how Ernestine was after her appointment.
We will definitely be returning to Fishtown Animal Hospital for all our vet needs.

Where do I start? This place is great! The staff are super friendly, knowledgable, and have a great bedside manner.
They’ve checked in on us after a visit, and have given wonderful and easy to follow instructions and visit summaries.
Highly recommended if you are a pet owner.

Dr. Cohn and her team at Fishtown Animal Hospital are the best in the business! I have been to numerous other vets with my pets throughout the years and no one comes close to Fishtown Animal Hospital. From the moment you walk in the door and until you walk out you feel like you are a part of the family. Dr. Cohn is knowledgable and treats you and your pet with the utmost respect and care. We are beyond happy with Fishtown Animal Hospital and love each visit. Thanks for taking great care of Lenny, he loves you guys!

I met Dr. Cohn a few years back because I was looking for a vet who could perform acupuncture on my dog for some health issues. I have always been overly pleased with them and my 6 pets loved seeing her. She has gone above and beyond to give my cat and dog the best care possible and is the first vet I have ever been to that make follow-​up calls on how your pet is doing. The love, care, and kindness Dr. Cohn and her staff have given my fur children was unbelievable and something so appreciated during a very stressful time. I cannot praise them enough and I would recommend Fishtown Animal Hospital to anyone! If I could give them more than 5 stars I would!!!

I’m really glad that Fishtown Vet moved into the neighborhood! Dr. Kahn was a pleasure, most of her staff is super friendly and welcoming. My only complaint is their inability to keep an appointment time — I’ve gone in twice since they have opened and both times resulted in waiting for about 20 — 30 min each time. Outside of running late, though, the facility is great and service is warm. Hopefully they’ll work those kinks out with some time. That said, we will definitely continue our relationship with Fishtown Animal Hospital!

When my SO and I moved to Fishtown I knew it was time to find a new vet for my kitty, PB. A few months later we added a new addition, Jelly. We decided on Fishtown Animal Hospital because it is a close walk to our apartment. We were able to get an appointment quickly for the new kitten, and our experiences with FAH since then have been nothing short of awesome. All of the staff is extremely friendly, personable, and knowledgeable. We really like and appreciate their quick follow-​up via email after vaccines, lab tests, etc. It’s really obvious how much they care about your pet, and also about making sure you have everything you need and all questions answered.

I had wanted a closer vet, and when Fishtown Animal Hospital moved into my neighborhood, I figured I would give them a try. Can’t say enough good things! Everyone was extremely nice, helpful, and very passionate about animals. They are easily reachable both by phone and email.
I came in for an annual exam and vaccines for my cat, and the vet and tech were very thorough, knowledgeable, and explained everything in great detail. At some other places, though I would be in for a physical exam, they would barely do anything other than shots and weight. Not at Fishtown Animal Hospital! A complete physical and wellness exam.
In addition, they seem to be very focused on truly becoming a part of the neighborhood and also work with great organizations like New Leash on Life. All around couldn’t be happier!

YES!!! This place is such a great addition to the neighborhood! Just took our dog there last night for his annual checkup. Staff were awesome with the pup and very helpful. You can tell how much they love animals. As you can see in the photos, the space is great. Waiting room is nice and large, which is helpful if your pet doesn’t always get along with others.

So happy I now have a vet within walking distance! Literally, 3 blocks away. I emailed a couple of days ago because my pup had a problem and I was able to get an appointment this morning for him. The waiting room is clean and spacious, the staff is super nice, and Dr. Cohn really made an effort to get to know my pup and did a thorough examination. The exam rates were comparable to other vets ($ 50 for an examination) and prescriptions were very affordable. They also loaded my pup up with treats throughout the exam so he was a very happy dog. Welcome to the neighborhood!
