Far Northeast Farmer’s Market

Unfortunately this new market incarnation has not lived up to my initial hopes/​expectations. Each week there seems to be fewer stalls and not many new vendors rotating in and out of the market. Some vendors, such as the mushroom stand I have not seen in over a month. There is really only one major produce stand, which has good stuff, but that along with a small, boutique type produce/​meat stall does not a farmers market make. I went from being a weekly customer the previous two years to a monthly one and even then I often don’t find much to buy. I have signed up for market emails multiple times which are supposed to tell you which vendors will be attending each week, but I have never once gotten the market weekly email. Each time I ask about it I am told just to sign up again and they will make sure I’m on the list. A not so often updated Facebook page and not very good on-​site support do a disservice to the market, its vendors and the northeast. I wish the vendors luck and hope the market grows in the coming seasons.

This is a tiny farmers’ market located in a parking lot. Only a couple of booths were selling veggies and mushrooms this week. Other vendors were selling bread, meat and honey. All in all, a very nice start for an under-​served area. Given the abundance of more robust farmers’ markets and stands on our usual circuit, we are unlikely to return but we wish the sellers and buyers here the best of luck.
