Fairmount Bicycles is a full-​service bicycle shop in the Philadelphia area capable of tuning any machine, from vintage to modern. In business since 2010, our shop carries a selection of new and refurbished bicycles for commuting, touring, and entry-​level road racing. You will also find accessories for every day and recreational use, from helmets, locks, and lights to racks, bags, and camping equipment. I recently stopped in this shop due to my bike seat falling off. The friendly staff looked at my bike right away, fixed the issue and had me off and running in 10 minutes.
The best part is they didn’t charge me a dime! Will use Fairmount Bike shop for all future biking needs!

Based on the Unilocal review my partner and I decided to see about buying a bicycle there. The reviews were not wrong and we found the sales people to be very helpful and knowledgeable. We ended up purchasing a commuter bicycle (Manhattan green) and the price was very competitive. We highly recommend this shop if you want to purchase a bike.

My partner and I attended a 4 part class on bike repair and maintenance. It took place in the shop, the physical space was tight and we had to stand for each class which was a bit fatiguing since we are on the older end of the spectrum but other than that the class was hands on, Tyler was a great instructor and we learned a lot.

I have had varied experiences with Fairmount Bicycles over the years. I find purchasing from them is a completely different and positive experience, where I have had several rude encounters with repairs. Last time I went they said a repair would not be possible and were short, rude, and curt about it. When I took it to another shop they fixed it no problem (at a lower price). After the last visit I will not be returning again.

As a casual cyclist, I’ve found Shelly and the staff at Fairmount Bicycles to be uniformly knowledgeable and friendly. I never feel intimidated, which (sadly) I have in other shops. They’ve helped me and my husband find the bikes we wanted. The prices are reasonable. I would hesitate to come back.

Fairmount Bikes is a home-​away-​from-​home for my ride – which I’m on almost every day of the year, so I hate to be parted from it! Great service, fair prices, and always accommodating. My wide has also bought two bikes here (the first was stolen:()and we’ve been very happy wioth side, too.

I needed to rent a bike while in Philly for a conference, and Fairmount was recommended. It was easy to get there via public transit, the rental was quite reasonable, and the service and friendliness was excellent. The bike served me well for my trips between a B&B in the University City District and downtown, with a rear rack to hold my pannier and a lock. I will rent from them again!

If you are a bike commuter and need a solid, reliable bike shop, look no further.
I’ve been a bicycle enthusiast my entire life. You know what that means? I have collected a select few bicycles that don’t ever want to get rid of… That doesn’t mean I don’t want to change or repurpose them. That’s where Fairmount Bicycles came in. I heard from a friend that they would not hesitate to transform my mid 90s steel frame mountain bike into a great city commuter bike. I discussed my requests with the mechanic and we were able to come up with affordable solutions that work. My experience was downright fun. That bike is now my primary ride.
Since then I have special ordered all sorts of things– from orange pedals & grips, a tiny ortlieb messenger bag, particular flavor cliff bars, to drink powder mix. They don’t charge me crazy fees just because they don’t have exactly what I want in stock. If they can get it, they will gladly do so.
I have all my tune ups done here now. Pricing is on par and my bikes always come back to me in the condition I expect– No grease stains on my grips or any of those annoying things that are easily overlooked by many mechanics. Kudos for paying attention to the little, albeit important things!
Bonus: it’s not only a local, small business… it’s a local, small, woman owned business.

What can I say? This is a great neighborhood bike shop. About four weeks ago my fiancé had been a customer after she had been doored by a car and needed to get her bike fixed. The worker did a great job of evaluating the bike and considered the damage that could have been caused by the accident. He even made sure to ask my fiancé if she was okay and then spent almost half an hour making sure that bike was ready to go.
Then a few weeks later I got doored and I went to get my bike fixed. A different attendant was just as attentive and caring and made sure that my bike was ready to go and I can get back on the road.
Both times no charge! I will definitely be back. And I’m telling all my friends about this great shop!

Simple process, great price ($ 7.00 per hour) and great bikes. If you are not a biker and plan to ride for more then an hour, GET BUTT PADS!!! My poor tushy was in major pain after 2 hours of riding.
The credit card hold of $ 200 per bike seems a bit much as I don’t believe the bikes cost that much but hey, what the hell do I know!!! Pay the money and ride on…
