Envoute: Burlesque Magic

Envoute is the only East Coast (an possibly the only American troupe) that combines stage, parlor, and cabaret magic with classical burlesque, belly dancing, and dance. We specialize in weaving together brief narratives through magic being performed simultaneously with burlesque in a way never done before. The cast consists of all female performers and a rotating stable of emcees aiming to allure and mystify on demand.

History

Established in 2012.

This began as a joke while working on another theater project. A good friend and I were running a dress rehearsal for a very independent show up in University City when one of the scenes inspired us to strip away the musical numbers, goofy storyline, and excess actors and make a compartmentalized variety show that mixes burlesque with somehting out of the ordinary… both being magicians we decided on magic. Eventually, as the show came to a close and we became more and more disenchanted by it the magic burlesque dream seemed more and more obtainable. We sucked it up, sent around some classified ads, pulled some favors, and, with the three lovely ladies who showed upto be in the show, we set off to take over the world!
