I heartily agree with all other reviews that give this place 5 stars. I love the smoked garlic kolbasa. This stuff is he heaven, especially when it is surrounded by a nice Amoroso roll and an Arrogant Bastard ale. If I lived closer, I’d be there at least once or twice a week. Ya hafta go!!!

The best Kilbesa in the city!!! I learned of this late in my life, and I won’t eat any other Kilbesa. Besides the Kilbesa they have many other sausages to select from. Also a large variety of hand made fresh perogies, also the best I ever had. The man running the joint is the happiest person I ever met in a butcher shop. Family business that makes you feel like family when you’re there.

Stopped in to get pierogis and Keilbasa for Easter. I ordered in advance to make sure I got what I needed. The owner made some special accommodations for me, I needed to add an extra dozen to my order(3days) before Easter. Stand up job by them! I appreciate it. I will continue to support this small business, great food and great customer service. Solid 5 stars

My dad and I recently watched bizarre foods and decided to give this place a try. We made our purchase and the owner hooked us up with a couple extra items because he wanted us to try a whole array of items. The products were delicious and you can tell everything there is fresh.

This place is the real deal. Yes, it’s on a back alley amongst garages and such in Port Richmond, but isn’t that usually how you find the best spots? Any of the hot dogs, kielbasa, etc. cannot be matched, but the sliced meats and burgers are top notch too. You MUST get there early though– there are always lines and they always sell out of just about everything!

Well worth the trip and the limited hours. Get there early! Kielbasa=delicious. Perogies=delicious. Pickles=delicious. Buy extra of all, you’ll regret later if you don’t.

It might seem like it’s located in a pretty shady spot, but trust me, it’s worth the trip. Amazing home made pierogi and kielbasa. Prices are right and the food is extremely fresh. Be warned, your entire car and house will smell like smoked kielbasa for days.

Oh my God. I was/am brutally hungover and on a mission for kielbasy. The guy behind the counter(John, I think?) was incredibly patient and kind in dealing with my brain fog. I bought three different things, the only thing I cracked into thus far is the hot kabanosa. I got two pounds of it and now immediately regret not buying all of what was left in it in the display case. Spicy meats normally miss the mark for me because they’re never hot enough, but this has serious kick and flavor. I grew up going to green point for my kielbasy, and this is hands down better. I’m so excited to go back for more and while properly hydrated. I am going to have to exercise all of my self restraint to not eat all the kabanosa in one sitting. I stupidly forgot my phone on the counter and John reminded me of it as I was leaving, so that was a disaster avoided. Love this place!

After hearing about this place for years at work, finally took a ride to pick up some of their goods. Got 3# of Kielbasa, a big bag of Sauerkraut, 2 packages of Pierogi and one loaf of Raisin bread. Well, these could be the tastiest Pierogi that I ever had… pre-boiled and ready for sautéing in butter and onion… I got the potato/cheese and Philly cheesesteak filled ones. Mmmmm!!! And the smoked Kielbasa was very tasty as well!!! After the holidays I WILL be returning to this delightful little Polish joint for more goodies! Very friendly staff as well… sometimes a little line, but who cares!!! You get to light up your olfactory passages in your nose with those delicious Polish cooking smells!!!

My family has been supporting this business for over 30 years but no longer after today. We moved out of the city recently and headed back to pick up a few items for the holidays. We I call ahead like I always do but today I called and after being on hold for a while a guy picks up and ask what I need. So I ask him if he could hold 2 things for me that I am traveling 3 hours and wanna make sure you have it. I get a response«cant, we need 5 days advance notice» I said but you do have them and he replied«yes» but they will be 1st come 1st service. That is how they treat customers who have been supporting them for over 30 years! Only thing I can think of it must be the Polish gene in them that takes 5 days to put a note on the 2 items I want… my advice is DONTSUPPORT these guys anymore. Go to one of the other Polish shops a block or two away and support them…

I am so glad I married someone Polish because had I not, I may have never been introduced to the joys of Polish food. And the best place in the area to get Polish food is, hands down, Czerw’s. Beyond having the best kielbasy and pierogies(and quite a selection, I must add), I cannot get enough of their bigos, which is not always available(so jump at the opportunity when you can!)

They are the absolute best when it comes to Polish food and the owner is such a great guy, he even frequently gives out hunks of kielbasa to people while they wait in line.

More than worth an hour trip from the suburbs. I made my first visit a few weeks ago. As a newb I arrived at what I thought was a reasonable hour(11:30ish on a Saturday) so I now know to get there earlier, much earlier. There was no fresh kielbasa left but that was OK because I still scored the best bacon I’ve ever had in my life. I also got smoked garlic sausage and hot kabanosa(Polish Slim Jims) both of which were tremendous. Here’s a tip: when you get top quality, homemade pierogi, keep a close eye on them while boiling because they’re so delicate they fall apart quickly(clearly I’m too used to Mrs. T’s). Or, perhaps even better, don’t boil them at all; just let them thaw naturally. They were awesome as was the sauerkraut(love the«help yourself» bin). I prefer the more vinegary version of Czerw’s kraut over Rieker’s although Rieker’s is fine in their own right. I believe it was Jeff Czerw who waited on me and he couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. I’m determined to return every few months.

As I walked down narrow Tilton Street to join the pals I was meeting at Czerw’s, I noticed a door slightly ajar, revealing stacks of fragrant wood and huge, lovely slabs of hanging bacon in the smoke room. This peek behind the scenes stoked my excitement about what was to come, and needless to say, I was not disappointed when I walked into the tiny retail room, entering a little emporium of pierogy, kielbasy, sauerkraut, bacon, and more. The prices are extremely reasonable. The fellow manning the register was friendly and patient as he explained the various types of sausages, dispensed advice about how to cook the pierogy(they’re already boiled at the store), and answered my questions about how the sauerkraut is sold(by the pound, with ziploc bags on the wall so you can help yourself) and what is in the stew they were selling that day(a very long and tantalizing list of Polish charcuterie). Everything I’ve tried so far was superb. The«loaded baked potato» pierogy are sinfully good, especially as they boast bits of Czerw’s own fruitwood-smoked house-cured bacon. The«Philly cheesesteak» pierogy are super – I was a little skeptical, I have to admit, but after reading all the rave Unilocal reviews about them, I had to give them a try. I am so glad I did. The steak inside is flavorful and juicy, and with the provolone and onions it truly recreates that experience of a perfect cheesesteak. I love spicy food but the«hotter than hell» hot sausage defeated me! I will probably incorporate the remaining hot sausages into a dish where their blistering hot taste can complement and be mellowed a bit by other ingredients. The Polish«hot dogs» are way better than any hot dog I’ve ever eaten. Perfect just browned and steamed, and served with a little mustard and the loaded potato pierogy on the side. Cajun kielbasa has a lovely balance of spice and the sweetness of the pork. And of course that incredible, intoxicating aroma of the fruitwood smoke brings it all together. I will definitely be making return visits to Czerw’s. What a gem!
