Crust Bakery

Crust is such a good addition to the Philly vegan scene. The only other all vegan bakery (that I can think of/​know of) is Sweet Freedom — but they also strive to eliminate other allergens like gluten and nuts and are on the ‘healthy tasting’ side of the vegan dessert spectrum.
Crust treats are just delicious, indulgent, pretty desserts that also happen to be vegan. My favorites are the individual pies (the chocolate pie tart thing!) and the coconut cake with buttercream frosting.
They don’t have a storefront but take online orders and are starting to pop up in more coffee shops around the city.
Just wanted to clarify the last review — Crust doesn’t operate out of their home kitchens, they use a commissary kitchen!

This is an awesome West Philly vegan bakery startup, run from the home kitchen/​s of the proprietors for now; be sure to check their website and call/​email ahead for options/​pricing/​pickup times!
In short, I just picked up my cupcake order from Crust, (coconut cupcakes/​cream cheese frosting,) and they’re awesome! Sweet without being cloying, lovely to look at, and the texture is just perfect — light frosting, dense cake that’s not overly so, wonderfully satisfying, and all enough to make me have to hold myself back from inhaling all of them in one sitting!
They’re a little on the pricey side, but if you’re looking for a wonderful cake, something impressive to share with the office, or something to wow your special someone, it would be really, really hard to go wrong here!
