I’ve never been to this Synagogue for services, but did attend the First Night Passover Seder and a few other functions. The architecture is amazing and I found the Congregation to be very welcoming.

Grand historic building, warm welcoming community, personable Rabbi, accessible user-​friendly services, kids playspace and programming during services, delicious kiddush after services. Easy walk for visitors spending Shabbat in Center City Downtown Philadelphia. While service structure itself follows the orthodox tradition, regular attendees span all levels of observance and all are welcome.

This is a gorgeous shul with a wonderful pre-​school. The shabbat services are warm and inviting and you don’t have to buy tickets for a spot on the high holy days, which is really nice, you just have to make a reservation. Also, they serve meals on most of the holidays, you just have to sign up via their website and sometimes pay a modest fee to cover the cost of the meal. A great place for families!

This is by far the most beautiful synagogue in Philadelphia. At one time, many years ago, they used to have multiple morning minyans of over 500 people each. How many people walked by this shul and said, «That’s where I’m getting married.» That’s how nice it is.
Today, it is operated by Chabad. They have revitalized and injected new blood into this historic shul. The services are amazing, warm and friendly, as well as all of the classes and guest speakers they invite.
Like I said, no other shul comes close. The rabbis are approachable, know Jewish law and are always available to the community. Contact Rabbi Goldman and Rabbi Schmidt for more information.
