Description

Specialties

Cochon is a casual, French-inspired BYOB found at the intersection of Passyunk Avenue and Catharine Street in Queen Village. Cochon (French for «pig») focuses its menu on heritage pork breeds but also features a variety of non-pork dishes, and daily, seasonally-inspired specials.

History

Established in 2007.

by husband and wife team Gene and Amy Giuffi, Cochon has received critical acclaim both locally and nationally. Cochon has been cited as «Best BYO in Philadelphia» by Main Line Today; «Top Newcomer 2008» by Zagat, and as a notable «place to eat in Philadelphia» in Travel and Leisure. In 2011, Philadelphia Magazine named Cochon one of the top 50 restaurants in the city.

Business Owner

A graduate of Philadelphia’s The Restaurant School, Giuffi has worked at some of Philadelphia’s most renowned restaurants, including: Pasion, Nan, Davio’s and La Boheme. His food philosophy espouses rustic preparation and bold, yet simple flavors — with frequent pork cameos.

In Summer of 2012, Giuffi plans to open Blue Belly BBQ, a casual, counter-service lunch spot at 600 Catharine (just across the street from Cochon).
