Super inexpensive, good enough to eat a few times a week… or daily… or twice a day.(That’s happened a few times. Okay, more than a few.) Their daily specials don’t actually line up with what’s listed in the menu, so they’re kind of random… which just keeps me going they have goat every time I go. In short, love this place.

This is a no frills restaurant. Good Dominican food at a good price with really good portions. If you’re hungry and in need of a quick but home cooked meal and don’t mind the neighborhood– I recommend it.

Great place that I discovered on a desperate lunch break. Big portions, very inexpensive, and the food all looked great. I don’t know much Spanish so the bilingual paper menu was a little confusing, but it didn’t matter because the main event are the dishes kept hot at the counter. Try the rice bowl with your choice of protein. Very tasty and filling. It’s definitely going to become my new regular place for lunch.

This place is in spitting distance of my house. The place is great. It’s not a fried chicken place, its a small family owned Dominican Restaurant with terrific food at low low prices. I’ve been ordering from here since they opened in 2009 and I love it. You can buy rice and beans(yellow or white rice) with choice of chicken or pork and the option of stewed beans in three or six dollar platters. You can get tasty beef cubes in the six dollar platters. You cannot get beef in three dollar platters anymore because of the price of beef being up these days. The pastelillos are my least recommended item. They are 1.25 and have a SLIVER of meat in them. Their potato balls are delicious with the beef cube gravy, I recommend them to anyone. They also have a selection of deserts(usually custards called Flan) which I don’t enjoy but they have an okay selection of bottled & canned beverages, and you are able to eat-in, have delivered or take-out. They even have a restroom available if you eat in. Cool place for the money.

I hear the mangu is off the hook. But today’s lunch special was not all that impressive. Cheap prices. Cozy corner. Authentic Dominicans from small town near Santiago.

This is not a fried chicken restaurant! I hope Unilocal makes the correction soon. Cibao is a dominican restaurant that I am lucky enough to have as a lunch option near my job. I’ve had the stewed chicken, yellow rice, plantains, and stewed eggplant so far. Everything is very flavorful and delicious and I can’t wait to try more items. It is a really neat experience for a self-identified budget foodie. The portions are large enough to be shared by 2 people. I can say that Dominican food is a new dining experience for me and each order is a new exciting little food adventure. The prices cannot be beat. Finally, for the girl who loved finding the best food cars with quality food and cheap prices, I now have a good option for budget friendly quality food in North Philadelphia.

CORRECTION: It’s a small dominican restaurant, NOT a fried chicken place(althought they do serve fried chicken). A small family restuarant that also makes deliveries, too! My family & I are regulars. This tiny«cuchifrito» serves a nice sized portion of spanish food for the buck! You can dine there or they have 2 take out sized platters: $ 3 platter of like rice & beans with a choice of meat. $ 6 ” ” ” ” ” with a bigger size choice of meat with a side dish of salad(you must ask for the salad or you will not get it, still free). Both will leave you with a full belly!!! It’s worth the quick drive up Frankford ave.(right on the corne of Ontario St.) from Northern liberties when you have a craving for some real spanish food with cheap prices. Get the tostonies(fried bananas) which takes about 8 minutes to make but it worth it once they are done & garlic seasoned for you… sluuuurp! Remember: Quality & Abundant food at cheap prices. This place is here to stay!
