Brick House Bar & Grille

Went to this place last night, and I have to say I was disappointed. I was very impressed with the owner/​manager who really makes a point to welcome all guests to his establishment. You just dont see much of that now a days. The service is great and there is a wonderful lively atmosphere in this spot, but the food that we ordered was disgusting. I had to send the wings back because they didn’t taste like they were cooked and smelled funny. The fries weren’t the best, but they’re nachos are decent. My friend had a chicken Caesar wrap that tasted like fish and almost threw up on the way home. It’s a shame because this spot has so much potential, but the food was way off. Never again

This place blows. Forget the fact that it’s ugly as hell inside (the kind of place that tries to look elegant but fails miserably). The food is terrible and the beer I ordered was room temperature. Absolute trash heap.

Nice bar, terrible food — don’t order anything! What a difference a year makes.
Paper plates, no utensils, very low grade food. The Manager was very on point and attentive. Place was crowded, not sure why?

Some of the rudest people to ever own a business. I know that this place rakes in the money and my measly $ 40 I might spend there in a night won’t matter, but that does not give the employees the right to treat you like you don’t matter.
The bartender is completely rude and was heard making comments to her «regulars» that she doesn’t need our business because she will make enough money with her regulars. She also stated that we do not own her. You would think we were treating her with complete disrespect. This bar has nothing special to offer so do not even waste your time or money. The manager/​owner even told my friend, he doesn’t need our money, after my friend tried to voice his concern about the lack of service we were getting from the bartender. Completely rude!

Great place. Good food, good beer, great service. Lots of craft beer bottle selections

The place is nice. I don’t understand why after I got carded at the door that I would get carded three more times in the bar. A staff member was rude to my girlfriend saying you have to buy two or more drinks or she would have to leave. Karaōke was a good set up on a lighter night.

This a great place for a philly sports fans to have a beer, a good meal and enjoy the game.

I went there to meet some friends after working all day and wanted a drink obviously, however I have a Maryland license and even though its clearly me and I am clearly 21 they refused to serve me. I dont know how many of you have multiple state IDs with pictures but I do not, and on top of that my waitress was very rude about the whole situation, which takes a lot for me to say a server is rude seeing as I too work in a restaurant. Lastly the food which was all I could order was mediocre at best. I will not go there again.

One of the best & most laid back bars I’ve been to. My dad took me here the first time for my 21^st birthday the night of Hurricane Katrina. With the few people who were there, they all bought me drinks, as expected lol. After my great first experience, my husband & I always find ourselves resorting there from time to time. Great atmosphere & friendly staff.

So after the bar few blocks away closed its doors. I desided it was time I had to find another bar close by.
So I Tryed Brick house bar & Grille. I drove in parking lot on a sat night like 9pm, and knowing that this bar is in a shopping strip mall. Between the corners of grant ave and Academy roads. At that time of night you could not get a place to park. That’s how packed this bar really gets. The crowds outside with many folks and the inside. Parked way up the street. Worth it through.
When I got inside no where to really sit standing room only. But when you have good deals on beers like this place does I guess you can see why. The food was amazing and prices are cheap. They have karaōke night. All around this is a good. Bar. And look forward to coming back many of times… Especially with the Atmosphere is nice.

The food was «ok» for a place I heard such good things about. We didn’t eat at the bar and our waitress look rather frazzled the whole time, as if it were busy (it was us and one other table). My mother in law got the wrong thing, but didn’t bother to send it back because she was starving by the time the food got to the table.

This bar has a great craft beer bottle selection, especially compared to most bars in the northeast. The owner always seems to be there and willing to offer suggestions on what to try. Haven’t really tried the food yet, but will eventually. Decent atmosphere at night, not too crowded but not dead either.

Came here last night with a friend. We came for a couple drinks between dinner and a movie. We came here because of its growing reputation for having a wonderfully large craft bottle menu. The menu doesn’t disappointed, 4 pages of craft beer bottles and cans. I would like to see more seasonal choices. A man who I believed to be the owner was very friendly and talked beer with us. The bar has a great layout (big central rectangular bar with tables on all sides) and seems pretty clean. It also seemed to have a decent crowd for a Thursday. I will definitely be back.

Never had a bad time here my only problem is that sometimes it gets really crowded but some people like that.

Brickhouse is easy to miss because it’s in a shopping strip. But it’s awesome! We always have a good time there! The drinks are reasonable, they ID so there are no little teenagers bopping around. The music is really good– on Saturdays it’s karaōke. The general atmosphere is great. And I didn’t sample anything off the menu except the cheese fries but they are absolutely frigging amazing. Like seriously– amazing.
It does get pretty crowded in there. So that’s not fun but its always a good crowd. Everyone seems to know each other.
I’ve been there a handful of times already and I definitely plan on going back soon. It’s awesome! See you there!

The Brick House is a small bar conveniently close to work. Their food is solid, the staff friendly, and most importantly they have some awesome happy hour specials.
We usually head over when the boss had a rough day or we want to celebrate a success. While the place can get packed, we usually don’t have a problem grabbing a high top table or two. We order apps nearly at random and stick with the drink specials. We’re mostly beer drinkers, so I can’t comment on the bartenders mixing skills. I’ve noticed they have a pair of craft beer refrigerators in the back, but I usually go with what is on tap since I need to drive home eventually. They also have pool tables, but we are rarely inclined to use them (no one wants to beat the boss!).
I was there yesterday and will be back on multiple occasions I’m sure. If you are in the area, I recommend checking them out — especially for happy hour!

I tend to stay away from strip mall bars, that being said my buddy John is a bar back here and raved about it so we decided to give it a try. The food is very good, I will try their pizza next time, they also have a killer craft bar they just added, prices are very reasonable too

We were here for a birthday party on Saturday night. It has been a while since I have gone out in NE Philly. We had a group of about 10 – 15 people and hung out from about 10:30pm-2am. I can’t comment on the food since we didn’t eat. I forgot how much cheaper going out to bars in the NE is compared to center city. The prices were very reasonable and the bartenders were quick at serving and made good drinks. My favorite thing about this place was that there was karaōke on Saturday night. They did a mix of switching back and forth between DJ like music and karaōke. And unlike most karoake places in or around center city, we were actually able to get in a good amount of karaōke without having to wait. The place is also pretty large and spacious so it is good for a group. The only dislike is that they could use more bathrooms.
Tip– if ordering a mixed drink, ask for a double– it is much larger and worth it.

Was looking for a new pizza place to try out. Decided to give the Brick House a shot. they were relatively new in the area and I hadn’t heard much about them. I ordered a large pie with half pepperoni and half sausage. The pizza was quite enjoyable. Thin crust. Crispy on the outside with just a little chew to it. Cheese wasn’t overdone. Stringy when pulled, but not so overcooked that it slides off the slice. The toppings were laid out evenly, though not as plentiful as you may get in most places. The sausage comes in slices of Italian sausage instead of using sausage crumbles. Sauce was a little on the sweet side, but not so much as to be off putting.
Also ordered the garlic fries. Wasn’t sure what to expect. The fries were thin cut, similar to various famous fast food places. But they were drowned in the garlic sauce. The sauce itself actually tasted quite good, and was great for dipping your pizza crust in. But the drenching of the fries pretty much ruined them, creating a soggy, lumpy potato mess.
I’d definitely give them another shot, but probably would skip the garlic fries.

This place was recently changed to Brick House, and I ordered some take out pizza as I wanted to see what they were like. The dough was rolled though a machine and not hand tossed, but the pizza tasted quite good. It was a nice thin crust and crisp. The staff as they were not busy at all were able to accommodate my request for a topping not on the menu (meatball), but you could tell they were not homemade. Also asked for ½ broccoli which was skimped on. The main restaurant was nice and large with lots of TVs to watch the game.
I bet this would be a good place to hang for some beers, but I don’t know about food. Pizza was good!
