Discovered these soaps at a holiday market in NYC years ago and have been hooked ever since. This is the perfect gift for every member of my family. I usually make a big order around the holidays and then again toward the middle of the year. Take advantage of the free shipping once you spend $ 48 (2 sets).
The best part of all is the customer service. I called after having some difficulties with USPS and COPA was extremely thoughtful and helpful. Would give more stars if I could.

A friend gave me a box of soaps as a housewarming gift, and holy crap, they smell amazing. I keep the box in my small guest bathroom and everyone remarks how wonderful they smell. I thought a box of soaps would be a great thank-​you gift for a coworker, so I went looking for the shop on Girard Ave in Fishtown. I had a hard time finding it – the door has the address, but isn’t otherwise marked with a name or sign. I called the number on Unilocal and someone came to the door to let me in. (For locals: It’s half a block north of I Hate Bank of America.)
When I got inside, I was asked what I wanted (two boxes of six soaps each), and an employee helped me choose soaps, which he then wrapped with paper bands marking the scents. Each box of six was $ 20, and I think a steal. They also gave me two small blank cards and branded bags for the giving. Most of their business comes from wholesale or web sales, or so it appears, but stop in to see the operation and make your own variety box.

I found this company at the Philadelphia flower show several years ago. They offer good quality products for an affordable price! (Better price than compared to LUSH) I order mine online since I live in Atlanta. These also make wonderful gifts!

The sad part is that companies like Dove and Spring-​whoever are still in business.
A few years back I stayed at a nautical themed hotel in Playa Del I-don’t-remember-which-one-and-nobody-cares in Mexico and for the first time in my life I experienced good soap. Intimately.
Soap that made me pay attention.
So I was like «Wow! Hotels at non-​memorable locations in Mexico have great soap!» and basically didn’t think twice about it.
Until a couple years later I saw Beekman’s soaps being hawked at a street fair in Brooklyn. Upon getting a whiff of the soap, I was immediately taken back to my time in Mexico — which I had completely forgotten about.
It was the first time I really got into soap and I’ve tried many other really fantastic soaps since. But I always come back and order from Beekman’s. It’s REALLY the best, most consistent soap out there by far. I’ve tried all the award winning soaps. I’m signed up to all the newsletters. Just ‘cuz they don’t put a fancy swirl on top and some shamrocks in there for good luck doesn’t mean you shouldn’t pay 40% less.
Oh, right! The price is unbeatable!
I’ve pretty much tried all their different soaps by now and I have an incredibly hard time choosing which ones to get next, every time I order.
I can say that Bay Rum, Harvest, Mango, Forest, Cider, Lemongrass, Out of India and Spice are definitely my favorites.
Oh, and Medley!
Is that all of ‘em? Oh, well.
And talking of Medley! When they get small, I squish ‘em all too together!

It’s really the best soap all around. I order them 10 at a time, get free shipping and any time I’m on my way out to an event or anything I just grab a couple as a gift.
Everyone loves it. Cuz they’re all hipster-​scum wannabe’s.

I was very disappointed at their poor customer service. I went to their pop up store in Union Square, NY yesterday. i was waiting in a long line and there were 3 customers before me. Finally, it was my turn so I was about to order. Suddenly, a lady with blonde hair cut in the line then told me «I was first». Obviously, she wasn’t the first. She just cut in everyone. The cashier guy was just standing and watching us but he didn’t say anything!!! He just ignored at me, and started taking her order without saying sorry!!! What kind of customer service is this?! It happened so fast so I couldn’t even say anything. He was really rude and unprofessional towards the customers.
There was another cashier standing a little further from us. I wasn’t sure but she looked like the owner of this store. I wish the owner would teach the stupid guy about how important customer service is for this kind of small business, especially in NYC. You may think it is just a small thing, however from this experience, I got a bad image of this store that doesn’t treat customers fair. And I don’t want to go back there in the future.
The soaps are good. but not so special compared to other handmade soaps in Manhattan, Brooklyn, France and also Italy. You will be able to find this level of quality soaps at a good price at other shops. This is not the only place for handmade soaps. Also the basil and oatmeal have a little too strong of a scent. It could have been better.
Overall, this store needs to change their terrible customer service… good luck!

I too, found these at a market in Manhattan years ago. I’ve been ordering them from their site ever since. For years. .. regularly. I even give them as gifts. I travel all the time (flight attendant) and bring a bar with me, always, rather than use the hotel soaps. I love them that much. Also, because of my job with the dry air in the cabin, I love that these soaps are natural, pure and emollient. I can not praise them enough.

I first bought these soaps at a kiosk at the Pennsylvania Flower Show now we make it known that every year we go to the kiosk. I love this soap and with my sensitive skin it does not irritate it, and it smells so good, you get a big whiff of it walking into the bathroom. I never been to the factory on Girard but I do want too.

I first tried Beekman’s C.O.P.A. Soaps at a friend’s house and I’ve been hooked ever since. The soaps are hydrating and invigorating. You can tell the makers use essential oils, not fragrance oils. These soaps don’t dry out my skin the way soaps from the drugstores do. I especially love their Medley soaps, which are off cut pieces that are recasted into uniform bars.
I’ve seen Beekman’s C.O.P.A. Soaps at the Union Square holiday shops in NYC during the Christmas season. The aromas are make it very uplifting as you pass by their stand.

I’ve never in my life purchased a soap that makes my skin feel as clean as this. I purchased the Honey Oatmeal last week when I was in the upper west side and I used it as soon as I returned home. This was hands down THE BEST 4 dollars I spent my entire trip to NY that weekend. I definitely will be purchasing more soaps in the very near future.

Amazing… I love that this soap literally leaves my skin SQUEAKY clean! I usually go for the mint shea and lemon grass scents, which smell lovely and transfom my shower into a spa experience. I usually stock up every year at the flower show, however, I will be ordering some more in the very near future.

I too bought a few bars of soap for gifts when they were at the Union Square market last fall, along with several for myself, and I can’t see myself buying soap from anywhere else!
They make my skin feel great, they’re made from all natural oils, essential oils for fragrance, and boy are they fragrant! In a good, natural way, like being in an herb garden.
As other reviews have stated, a bar lasts a long time. Although I still have a few bars left from my original purchase, I’m going to place an order for more for gifts and to stock up for myself for the rest of the year!

My girlfriend bought soap from a pop-​up market at this company and was charged twice. She called the company– they returned her call, left a message, and asked that she call back during I certain day and time. She called, explained the problem, and the woman immediately said «I can’t help you». She continues to explain the problem and the woman on the phone continued to be extremely rude and would not help. She asked to speak with the man who originally called us back or for an e-​mail where she could reach him and instead of an answer my girlfriend was called «abusive» and that she wouldn’t be helped. As a result, I would never shop here nor recommend shopping here. I work in retail, the soap isn’t worth it. It’s a shame really.

I am probably never going to use another soap. My skin smells and feels amazing.
I picked up a few bars as gifts and kept one for myself, «spice.» Holy cow, amazing.
I can’t wait to try more, though at this rate, the bar seems like it will last for a while.
Do yourself a favor and try this. You’ll feel ridiculously clean and delicious… And you might develop a shower addiction. I can’t believe I’m raving about soap, but I am.

These soaps are so fantastic! I’ve been buying them for years and they never disappoint. Another added plus — my bathroom smells fantastic as soon as I walk into it just from the fumes of the soap! I lucked out and bought a few more yesterday (Seaweed, patchouli and lavender oatmeal) and had to restrain myself from buying more! Had a nice chat with Rachel, who was manning the stand during the street fair yesterday — all good! Can’t wait to treat myself to a few more bars down the road! Quality product!!!
Update: Just returned from the holiday fair in Union Square in NYC. Purchased the cider, patchouli, peppermint, lavender and basil soaps. My apartment smells amazing and at $ 20 for 5 bars of soap, you can’t go wrong! Make sure you head down!

Great soaps! I found these soaps at a market in midtown Manhattan. I got some for friends as gifts and kept some for myself. 6 for $ 20 is a great price for homemade soaps.
They smell great and last a long time. All natural and leave your skin so soft and fragrant. They really are great soaps. I just ran out and googled them so I can order some online and saw they had a Unilocal page. Must review such a great product. I highly recommend anyone get these soaps.

Quality soap made with coconut, olive, palm, and almond oils. Honey oatmeal and ginger carrot smell great!

COPA stands for Coconut, Olive, Palm, and Almond. Those four oils make up the base of every Beekman’s soap. An extra ingredient (such as shea butter) and/​or an essential oil blend (such as lavender) is then added to create the many varieties. This is as pure as it gets, and switching from sulfate-​filled chemical body washes to these soaps was the best decision I have ever made for my skin.
Bars are $ 4 each, or 6 for $ 20 if you find them selling at an event, and last one person about six weeks. The soap produces a rich lather that rinses clean and scent-​free without stripping away your natural oils. I’ve gotten sample size bars as extras with online ordering or as a business card at an event — which is the cutest idea ever! — and I keep them around just so I can pass them on to new potential customers.

I grew up in NYC and my cousin and I always attended the 9^th Avenue Food Festival — always, up until I moved to Boston. This fantastic FOOD festival is where I was introduced to these FANTASTIC soaps and I have been using them on and off since about 1999. They have wonderful scents and moisturize well. My husband, who has some very mild eczema, loves them. Starting in 2007, I would stockpile these never paying attention to the website but now that I know I can order them online I will no longer have to wait until May.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE their soaps! I first found their soaps at a union square in NYC. They had a small stand at a farmer’s market at union square during the holidays. After talking to the VERY NICE owners, I found out they were based in Philly and couldn’t be more excited!
The soaps smell so good and they feel so luxurious! I love all their scents because they are calming and relaxing like a spa and they feel so good too. I like that the soaps are natural and handmade and are so good on your skin. I will definitely keep buying them. I know it’s just soap, but PLEASE give them a try =)
