Art In Motion Dance Academy (AIM) has quickly become one of the top dance studios in Philadelphia. With several World Championship titles among all of the dance instructors, AIM has become the pivotal force in the Philadelphia salsa scene known for breeding technically clean dancers as well as several world champions.

Business Owner

Darlin Garcia is the founder and artistic director of Art In Motion Latin Dancers. Born in the Dominican Republic, this energetic dancer, performer, and instructor has gained recognition as one of the top male salsa dancers in the Philadelphia area. With over nine years of experience, Darlin Garcia has danced and performed locally, nationally and internationally in countries like China, France, Panama, Ireland, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Japan, and the United Kingdom.

He recently expanded his dance studio, Art in Motion Dance Academy, which is located at 233 N. 12th Street in Philadelphia, PA. Darlin holds several World Champion titles in the Competition World. He brought home over 10 titles in the 2015 World Salsa Summit, several of which ranked him #1 in the world in several divisions including Bachata Teams, Cha Cha Cha, Bachata Classic and more.

Darlin is the 2013 World Latin Dance Cup Bachata Champion. He and his partner Gaby Equiz-​Jasso (Alma Latina) placed 1st in the

I very much enjoyed my first lesson at AIM. Darlin is very skilled in Latin dance, but he teaches at a basic level that makes it easy to pick up the steps, and he makes the entire experience very fun. The studio is large, beautifully designed and very welcoming. I’ll be back for more lessons soon!!!

My husband and I had a great time at the AIM Dance Studio for beginners salsa lessons. I’ve been looking for fun, creative ways to spice up our «Date Night» and this ended up being the perfect scene. Darlin was patient and very very nice to us. We never did this before, so we came in a little unsure and a bit intimidated. Everything was awesome and tailor fit to our pace and skill level. We’re looking forward to our next class.

All that you hope for in a social dance course and nothing you fear. The instructors are lively, warm, and excellent teachers. They make what could be an awkward or uncomfortable learning opportunity into one that is encouraging, fun, accessible, and supportive. At the end of class the instructors encourage you to use your smartphones to shoot video of them re-​demonstrating the moves taught that day so you can continue to study and practice at home. I love that! The studio is spacious and clean. The location is great as it’s within a short walking distance of City Hall trains and multiple bus lines. Metered parking spots are plentiful along the street. Plus, being in the midst of Chinatown, there are endless restaurants to enjoy afterward! The rates for both their group and private lessons are very reasonable. Check Groupon as they sometimes have package deals for beginners sessions. Huge savings! Never thought I’d have this much fun or learn so quickly taking salsa lessons. Monthly salsa socials let you practice your moves and meet other dancers of all levels. I enthusiastically recommend Art in Motion Dance Academy and its instructors !

I started attending the salsa and bachata classes at AIM. This is the BEST place I have found in center city that teaches advanced classes — covering all basic salsa and bachata dance styles in a group format at a reasonable price.
Darlin and Liz are such awesome instructors, and students get the benefit of their different teaching styles. I highly recommend AIM!
I also enjoy the social mixers they have once a month. It’s such a great way to show the dance skills you have learned and socialize with the other dancers.

Came with a livingsocial with my boyfriend, and used it on a drop-​in class. We were 20 minutes late (to a 60-​minute class… oops) but the academy was extremely accomodating and we just jumped right into the leason! Our instructor was pleasant and patient, and we had a great time learning basic salsa moves! The other people in the drop-​in class were two other couples… so be warned as that generally seems the norm for classes. I think the academy also does «salsa parties» which are more free practice sessions.
The time flew by, and we were encouraged to videotape the last 5 minutes of the instructor giving an overview of what we had learned, so we could come back after practicing on our own! Will definitely come back to use up the rest of our livingsocials… hopefully the classes aren’t too repetitive so we’ll see!
