I’ll start by saying the positives: wonderful food! Absolutely incredible. We got the octopus for starters, seasoned perfectly and absolutely delicious. We then got the bucatini and the rigatoni, creamy wholesome and out-of-this-world good. Comparable to the authentic Italian food with a little American flair. Now the negatives, which I regretfully write because the food was really that good. We were told that in order to get a table we would have to close our tab at the bar, but the bartender said we could just take our drinks to the table and pay for it there. We kept going back and forth between bartender and hostess until the hostess just showed us to our seats. The lack of communication was confusing. We got to our seats and the waiter was polite and responsive. The starter came out right away, but it was the main course that took forever! We were getting a little restless. Nonetheless, the food was amazing. We got valet parking(there’s hardly any parking around, and for some reason especially not that night) and so I called giving the valet guys about 15 minutes to go get my car while we were wrapping up dinner. It ended up taking 30 minutes for the car to arrive… Kind of absurd. There was a couple in front of me who had been waiting for their car for 45 minutes… terrible. We left thinking about the poor service we had received and it just made a bad impression on the entire night. I’ll probably take my friends here again though. Taking an über next time!

The drinks are great, the atmosphere is great, service was great, and the food was very good. We started with the marinated olives and bufala ricotta. The olives were good but extremely salty, but the bufala ricotta was out of this world. Then we had Sal’s old school meatballs which were also great, and I had the Veal tongue which I really enjoyed. For our main course we shared the Paccheri with swordfish and eggplant fries which came out with our side order of brussel sprouts. The Paccheri was incredible and you could tell it was all home made. The only reason I am not giving Amis 5 stars is how salty a few of the items were. Overall I really enjoyed the dinner and would definitely come back

Not bad. The staff is very well educated on the menu and were helpful with ordering. Food was okay… think for brunch you need to go with a more Italian– pasta like dish. I went with the eggs and wasn’t overwhelmed. The mozzarella and tomatoes were delicious! Very fresh. Cute spot/location.

So I had quite the unique experience here. I’m contemplating on changing this review to a 3 star(I decided 4 star because I’m feeling generous right now) My friend and I went on a walk on Sunday morning and passed this place and decided to have brunch — it had only opened a couple of minutes before we decided so we were literally the first customers of the day. They were setting up inside so we decided to eat outside(they have about 4 – 5 tables outside) to stay out of their way — we thought we were being nice and doing them a favor. I ordered orange juice to drink and it came out right away(as expected).Since we were on a walk, I had to use the restroom before ordering my meal so I went inside. I was in the stall doing my business(sorry, too much information maybe) when two frustrated waitresses came into the bathroom talking about how annoying my friend and I were because we showed up to eat right when they opened. One of the girls literally verbalized, «What bitches! How rude to just show up like 5 minutes after this place opens! No one does that! I’m so annoyed and I want them to leave!» I had never felt so awkward in my life! I literally sat in the stall until they left — it was terrible! Now that I think about it, I should have walked out and been like I heard that! I ran outside and told my friend what had happened to contemplate if we should leave or not and she said she had just ordered for us. We decided to stay and eat — we didn’t want to be even more of a burden than we were(apparently). So back to my rating of this place — the ONLY reason I rated this place a 4 star is because of the food. The hazelnut waffle was AMAZING. I would eat it for breakfast every single day if I could. My friend didn’t enjoy her breakfast chorizo though. Overall, I didn’t enjoy my experience here because of the awkward and unwanted feelings my friend and I had. If a restaurant says its open, they should be happily serving… even if it is 5– 10 minutes right after. I don’t know if I would come back here again — depends on how much I am craving that waffle and on how confident I am to go back hahah

Had the bucatini pasta with jalapeño and almond pesto. fantastic! Well worth the price. I have now been here three times and the restaurant has never disappointed. My wife said the pork chop parmesan was ‘to die for’. Tonight we actually had some space for dessert and the chocolate tartufo. amazing! even if you come just for this dessert, it is well worth it.

I went to Amis on Friday and had the best Brussels sprout dish ever! I turned a friend who doesn’t like brussels sprout into liking them! They were cooked so well, crispy with so much flavor! Ok got that out of my system. The drinks are phenomenal — very well made and tasty. There were four of us so we liked to get a few of everything to share. We got traditional meatballs, brussels sprouts(LOVE), and mixed salumi plate to share. The meatballs were tender and it a great sauce that I cleaned with my bread. I was ok with the meat plate — I don’t think I’ll ever like bologna no matter how fancy it is. For our entrees, we got the scallops, bucatini with jalapeño and almond pesto, monk fish spaghetti special, and rigatoni with beef bolognese and spinach. Each dish was phenomenal, except the scallops. Such a disappointment for me because I love scallops! They did not have a nice sear that you usually expect and it was so overly salted. I put salt on my apples and I thought it was salty. When our waiter came by to check on us, I mentioned that and it was so nice about it, he gave me a complimentary glass of wine. I thought that was just superb customer care. I still don’t think I would order the scallops again but I would totally go again just to eat those brussel sprouts. I didn’t think I had room for dessert but we they brought out the belgian style waffle and the«tartufo al bacio» — I just couldn’t help myself. Very delicious ending to a fantastic meal!

Okay so I totally love this place and hate to give it a bad review. I Went here after the«new urban outfitters management» for my birthday dinner and I was TOTALLYDISAPPOINTED! I got the jalapeño bucatini and my friend got the chicken — Both were extremely salty! I had to send the Pasta back 2 times and I still couldn’t eat it. They did send us free desserts that were awesome, but I could barely eat them after the entrees. I don’t know what happened to the quality of food after the new management, but it safe to say after getting ‘salt poisoned’, I will not be returning. :(

I hate to downgrade a restaurant that I’ve really loved in the past, but my recent brunch experience at Amis was not at all worth the high price tag that came along with it. My friend and I were seated against the wall in the upper left area. Our server was polite but possibly a bit spread thin as we often had to wait longer than usual to order drinks. Speaking of drinks: the bellini is a spiced peach version that’s high on flavor but low on champs. I had nary a buzz after I finished so I switched to the spicy bloody mary which was fine but didn’t seem all that different from a regular bloody mary. For food, I opted for the san marzano tomatoes with eggs and basil. This teeny tiny portion tasted fine but, again, nothing special. The roasted potatoes were under-seasoned and Lo Spiedo’s homemade smoked bacon tasted no different from store bought bacon. After hearing so many positive things about Amis’ brunch I can honestly say I was disappointed, especially since brunch for two with tip came to somewhere around $ 100, give or take. I’ll stick with dinner at Amis from here on out.

After many recommendations to this place, we finally ventured to this place since we were craving Italian food and celebrating a birthday. We were nestled between two other tables. Tight squeeze, so not a place to dish out your secrets. Despite the frigid weather, there were many diners to keep this lively place buzzing! The wine list was very impressive, and equally very delicious. I tried the Pinot Noir and sadly, I forgot the name of the other one. The menu had much to offer, but we settled on three appetizers and two pastas: octopus, swordfish meatballs, sweetbreads, beef bolognese rigatoni, and the soppressini with wild boar and pears! However, I do want to add that their olive oil-infused bread was so soft and unique bread basket, different than all the other Italian restaurants we’ve tried. Our appetizers surprisingly came out all at once and shortly after we ordered. I’ve never tried sweetbreads, so I got out of my comfort zone, and found to be quite tasty. Dusted with almond powder, topped with fennel, and a sweet jam that pulled this appetizer together! Octopus was also lovely and not chewy, but standard to other octopus dishes I’ve had. Swordfish meatballs! Very nice flavor, and the polenta made it not boring. I’d order this again! Three appetizers for the win! And then we waited. And waited. And waited. The wait between appetizers and entrees was quite long, but when they finally arrived, we were both disappointed. His beef bolognese had little bits of meat, and mine just had a tad bit more. Thought there would be more meat for both of the dishes. Nevertheless, the portion was the right size, and the pasta did taste great despite it being less meaty. Two wines, three apps, two pastas totaled to be about $ 100 for two. Not bad at all! Despite the long wait, the meal itself was pretty good and on par to the other Vetri restaurants. I’d come again to explore the other options on the menu.

Food was just ok … Gave me heartburn all night … They must use a lot of butter… They sat us a half hour after our res… But that was ok also … We finished in an hour with desert got the check and the hosted /manager? Had the audacity to ask us to hurry it up because she needed the table !!! I would have given 1 start but I don’t think that would have been fair. The waiter was very nice. Do not use the valet to park 30 min to get the car … Unacceptable !! Not gong back!

This was our layover stop before we start our night of debauchery and gluttony. For a party of three, we decided to sat at the bar. Our bartender was very nice and accomodating, I wanted to order Gin and Tonic for my drink, I told the bartender that I want to to try something different from what I normally drink. After asking me a bunch of questions, she came over with a sample of the awesome gin that they have on hand. I went with the one that she let me try. We didn’t order any entrees, only went with four different small plates. Tripes, pork cheek, veal tongue, veal sweetbreads and octopus. They were all delicious and really good snacking food that pair well with practically any kind of booze. Highly recommend to get all those items while you’re drinking at the bar and before you continue your night in Philly. Best bet to come here early dinner time on weekends or anytime on weekdays.

baked pecorino with almond honey $ 10 — delicious! one of my favorites from the menu. perfect balance of sweet from the almond honey and salt from the pecorino. 100% would order again. grilled veal tongue with pepper mostarda $ 11 — my friend and i wanted to like this one. we wanted to try something a little different than our usual italian selections, but it ended up backfiring on us. we just couldn’t get over the fact that we were eating tongue. if you’re into offal, go for it! rigatoni with beef bolognese and spinach $ 16 for $ 16, i wish the portions were a little bigger. this is a decent rendition of the italian staple of a hearty pasta in meat sauce. bucatini with jalapeño and almond pesto $ 16 — a creamy, nutty pasta with a little kick. i enjoyed it. fried brussels sprouts and lemon $ 8 — i feel like you see roasted/fried sprouts on every menu these days, but they’re there for a reason! super crispy with great texture.

Roman Italian at its best! Mark Vetri is a fixture in, what is becoming, the nationally recognized Philadelphia restaurant scene and he’s certainly outdone himself. My boyfriend and I came here the Monday of the week of Thanksgiving for a 7:15pm reservation and we were seated promptly upon our arrival. The ambiance of the restaurant is really comforting. The décor is lovely and gave a great feel just walking in the door, very authentic rustic Italian. The warm colors made the restaurant feel cozy and inviting — perfect for a date night. After being seated, we were warmly greeted by our waiter who was well-versed in the menu and attentive, without being overbearing, throughout the entire meal. The drink menu has some great options and the wine list is very Italian! To kick things off, we ordered two glasses of nice Italian wines and were offered fresh olive oil infused focaccia bread at the table. To start we shared the eggplant caponata, semolina crusted shrimp with parsley sauce and baked pecorino with almond honey. The caponata was a good balance of sweet and sour. The shrimp were unique with their crunchy semolina exterior but could have been seasoned a little more. As for the baked pecorino? To die for! I’m putting it down of as one of my top«eats» for 2015. Absolutely delectable. We ordered another round of wine and some more plates to share. My wonderful dining partner and I went with the quail with charred polenta & cherry agrodolce, fried brussels sprouts & lemon and rigatoni with swordfish and eggplant fries. The quail was cooked well; tender with a nice seasoning and sauce that complimented it nicely. The brussels sprouts were salty and acidic — in a good way. The leaves were nicely caramelized and crispy(almost chip like), yet still airy and light in texture. It was a nice refreshing twist on a winter vegetable staple. The paccheri with swordfish is a genius plate of pasta filled with fresh, unexpected flavors. The eggplant fries added a crisp, salty element that complements the pasta in a satisfying way. My only qualm here is that there could have been a bit more swordfish in the dish. To end our experience on an extra sweet note, we shared the Belgian waffle with nutella, vanilla semifreddo and walnuts. It was light, fluffy and absolutely divine. Needless to say we enjoyed our date night and I highly recommend the restaurant to anyone — local or not. 5 stars Amis! Grazié!

We are spoiled in Philly because there are so many great restaurants like Amis. The service is great, the menu is exciting and always tough to choose from, and the service is perfect and attentive. My favorites from the night were the swordfish meatballs and the lemon trout entrée, surprisingly both seafood dishes. We also ordered the pasta with boar, the sweetbreads appetizer, and the belgian waffle for dessert. It was my birthday and they came out with an extra portion of ice cream, quite the nice touch. Overall, this restaurant seemed reasonable for the quality of food, the portions, and the great service. Would love to come back here again either with friends or on a date.

Yes, this is exactly the type of restaurant that Philly has become known for. Perfect cozy atmosphere, amazingly delicious and flavorful food with a unique twist and wonderful service. It never gets old going to restaurants like this because it always feels like a unique experience, but comfortable and unpretentious. The swordfish meatballs were juicy and soft. The boar pasta had the perfect texture and flavor. The trout was crispy and flaky, with fluffy lemon custard. And finally the crispy waffle with the fresh ice cream, and gooey melty hazelnut topping was the perfect finish. Glad to add another 5 star place to my reviews!

My boyfriend and I went last night for my birthday. We heard good reviews from friends so we thought we would try it out. *we did not get pasta so that may be our own faults* but. Wine was good Appetizers were delicious. We got the meatballs and the octopus, both very flavorful Our entrees were the downfall. I ordered the scallops. I have never had scallops cold before and I’m not sure if they were supposed to be cold as they were served with lettuce and chickpeas? All of them were cold when I received them and it ruined the flavor. My boyfriend ordered the sirloin. It came out and as he cut the first slice it appeared to be raw inside. Not even rare. He asked if he could have it sent back to the kitchen and cooked a bit more… It came out 4 minutes later charred on the outside but STILL undercooked on the inside. He could barely eat anything other than the ends which were thinner and more well done. Because it was my birthday they came with a free surprise tiramisu with a candle which saved the dinner. Very good dessert. I was disappointed because I had heard such good things, but our entrees were enough to make me turned off. If I ever go back(not sure if I would) I think I would have to go with some sort of pasta. Tables around us had good looking meals. Much better than ours

Amazing food, ambiance, wine, service, and location! I was fortunate to have been brought here by a local, I would’ve never picked this cute area of Philly for dinner! All of the many dishes were delicious and unique. We had 4 people in our party, which meant more dishes to order and share :) Everything was delicious, and the meatballs, and brussel sprouts, of course, come highly recommended. Perfect for a nice night to be outside or inside: a romantic and comfortable, clean restaurant.

Amis has been on my list ever since I moved to center city, and the bf and I finally made it there last Friday night! I was a little last-minute with our reservations so we got a lovely table early at 6:15. We were one of the first few tables seated for the night. The ambiance of the restaurant is really nice, very cozy with a beautiful bar and I loved the open kitchen with chefs table overlooking it. The décor was lovely and gave a great feel just walking in the door, very authentic rustic Italian. We were greeted with fresh olive oil infused focaccia bread at the table. Drink menu has some good options, and the wine list is very Italian so you’re safe there! You can taste the wine as well to make sure you like it, and I love when restaurants let you do this, it makes life so much easier! To start we shared the Sal’s old school meatballs with tomato & potato, and my boyfriend got the octopus as well. Both were delish, and I’ve heard the baked pecorino is really good too so I’ll have to try that next time! For our meals, we couldn’t pass up the fresh house-made pastas! I got the tonnarelli with cacio e pepe, a square-spaghetti with a creamy, cheesy olive oil sauce that was totally outstanding! My boyfriend got the bucatini with jalapeño and almond pesto which was phenomenal as well, and definitely has a KICK! We were also lucky enough to land a small extra pasta gratis, which was the sopressini with wild boar and pears — so unique and delicious! All the pastas are good portions, hearty enough to fill you up but small enough that if you wanted a meat entrée as well you could do that too. We also shared the polenta with brown butter, which was very good but a little rich in combination with all our pasta. Great nonetheless! We hadn’t been on a date night in a while so we splurged and shared the Belgian waffle with Nutella, vanilla semifreddo, and walnuts which was awesome. We were stuffed but managed to finish it anyway — the waffle was so light and crispy it was too good to leave on the plate! Needless to say, we are already antsy to get back to Amis, and it deserves all 5 stars! Grazié!

First time coming here and enjoyed our meal and service. We ordered –Salami Del Giorno with Onion Marlamade — home made salami, but it was okay. –Sal’s Meatballs — very tender and delicious — beef, veal, and pork — cooked to medium. –Cacio E Pepe — we just came from Italy and not a bad rendition of the classic pasta dish. It’s a little blander than what we got in Italy, but you can really taste the pepper and wasn’t as salty(which we preferred) –Rigatoni — good dish as well — cooked al dente. –Dessert — Belgium waffle — very tasty and extraordinarily light/fluffy waffle. Great with the nutella and hazelnuts. Awesome place — not as good as Italy, but close enough!

It was love at first bite here! My bf took me here to celebrate my PhD proposal being approved. It was a last minute date, but it was great! The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We had the meatballs for an appetizer and can I tell you, they were so good, I thought we might have to fight over who would get the last one(of course, he is a gentleman, so he offered the last one to me). The bread was light and fresh, served with warm butter as I like and the food was fresh. Our dishes were flavorful and well seasoned. We didn’t have to wait long for our food and the seating, lighting and ambiance were perfect. The dessert was heavenly! We had the Belgian style waffle with nutella and hazelnuts — can you say DELICIOUS! This place is off the beaten path and is not located in restaurant row and because of such, may not get as much play. However, this restaurant is 5 stars all the way. Did I mention the ambiance is wonderful. This is definitely a place where you can go to have a nice evening with the one you love and share the love of food :).

We don’t usually get dessert with dinner and wine, but here, it’s a MUST, and I’m talking about the Belgium waffle dessert! They make it fluffy, so it’s not as thick and filling as a regular Belgium waffle, but has the same great taste topped with delicious ice cream! The menu does not have descriptions, so definitely ask the wait staff about anything you want! Our waitress was extremely knowledgeable and explained several of the appetizers and entrees to us in order to make a decision. The extensive wine list is also in Italian, and I usually drink Napa Valley Cabernets, so the waitress recommended one of the best wines I’ve ever had! They serve a variety of salad, pasta, seafood, and meat entrees along with a large selection of bruschetta, meat, and cheese appetizers. Appetizer must: Sal’s famous meatballs with tomato covered potato. You get three juicy meatballs with a little potato underneath them, and the flavors were impeccable! We were looking for pasta and had the ricotta and tonnarelli dishes. Both were outstanding. While other reviews mentioned«generous» portions, I would categorize them as below average for what we usually receive at high-end Italian restaurants. We both finished our plates and could have eaten more, whereas usually I cannot finish an entire pasta entrée. This was even after consuming one appetizer, fresh bread(provided to all patrons but with no dipping oil), and our complimentary side(described below). The service was top notch! Besides our waitress being attentive and knowledgeable with everything, we were offered a complimentary side that we shared while waiting for our meals because the chef was not happy with how the entrees resulted. Therefore, he started over while we enjoyed the side. We greatly appreciated this level of service! I’m surprised it’s rated $$$ because most entrees were $ 16 – 20 a piece minus a few exceptions. We got a bottle of wine, two entrees, one appetizer, and one dessert for $ 115 plus tip! The ambiance was upscale, yet we saw people wearing anything from t-shirts and flip flops to dressy. They have $ 18 valet that is the best option unless you want to park and walk quite a bit. They had outdoor tables, but we opted for inside as outside seating is on the sidewalk by where everyone arrives, walks by, and valet. We enjoyed our date night and would definitely go back as we are huge fans of the Vetri restaurants!

I was here for a party of 9 for a birthday party. We ordered a bit of everything from the menu, from the eggplant bruschetta, to the striploin with mushrooms. All of it was a smash hit. The service was excellent. We were in very capable hands, despite half of the guests being agitated from bad 95 traffic, and 2 of the guests hardly being able to hear anything. It was noisy when we went at 6, but I imagine much of that was our fault. The specials for us were all variations on salmon, with a crudo dish with blackberries as a starter, and a seared steak as an entrée. We ended up getting the crudo, which was an interesting and unexpected take. Our bill came to around $ 700 for 9 people, and we ate a *lot* of food.

Finally made it over to Amis on a beautiful May night in the city. This is the 3rd Vetri restaurant we have visited, Alla Spina and Pizzeria Vetri being the other two. Amis is very pleasant inside and has an open and comfortable feel. The restaurant was doing a brisk business on this Thursday night. The recession sure looked over at Amis. The dishes we had were as follows, some selected from other Unilocal reviews, thanks. Mortadella with hazelnut honey salumi — We really like this dish, it was sweet and salty. Swordfish meatballs with creamy polenta and pine nuts — My wife loved this but it did have some flavoring with anchovies. If you don’t like anchovies beware. Ironic because I am not a fan of anchovies but I liked this dish. I didn’t love it but the pine nuts made it interesting and the anchovy taste was just below my breaking point. Spring pea tortelli with lamb ragu and mint — This was a fantastic dish, it is worth coming back for. Bucatini with jalapeño and almond pesto — This was also excellent with just the right amount of heat. Paccheri with swordfish and eggplant fries — The eggplant fries were fantastic, very good dish. Olive oil cake with blood orange marmalade and whipped cream — This was OK, didn’t really wow us. Amis serves this bread cooked in olive oil. Beware; it is awesome and easy to fill up on. Our service was excellent even though the restaurant was busy. With the 2 appetizers, 4 pasta dishes, 1 dessert a couple of coffees and 2 beers and a soda we were in the $ 130.00 range or about $ 32.00 per head before tip. Amis is not cheap but we were all stuffed. I liked Amis and glad we were able to get there.

Amis may or may not be my favorite restaurant in Philly. Okay, fine, it is. I can’t help but recommend this place to everyone that visits Philly. AMIS, YOUWIN, YOUHAVEMYHEART, OKAY? Amis is even better than my favorite Italian restaurant in New York(Giano). I love Italian food, and I only love it as much as I do today because of Amis. This place is amazing delicious beautiful intimate and have I mentioned amazing? A good friend of mine took me here before I graduated college and I regret not having discovered Amis before then. We started with the salami del giorno with onion marmalade($ 8), which was delicious. The salami comes in slices that are quite thick, and the marmalade balances the saltiness of the salami perfectly. The plate comes with around 5 slices of salami but it was a great appetizer. For entrée, I got the tonnarelli«cacio e pepe» with pecorino and black pepper. Oh my goodness, I loved this so much. The pecorino sauce with black pepper is rich, but not heavy in a way that made me feel too full from flavor. An extremely simple dish, but it’s what I imagine a pasta dish would be like from Italy. The pasta was cooked to perfection and I am literally salivating as I type this. For dessert, my friend and I split the belgian waffle with nutella and ice cream. UGH I WANTTOEATTHISEVERYDAY. The belgian waffle was fluffy, but still had a nice crunch. The ice cream was perfect and I could just eat a jar of nutella myself normally so there’s that. I left Amis so full and so satisfied. Like, never been happier in my life. I recommended a couple of friends to go to Amis when they visited Philly for the first time and they loved it too. Definitely a great restaurant for a date, as it is very intimate, with dim lighting and very cute décor. Amis, I love you. So much. So so much.

Just one stop at Amis and this place is by far, my favorite restaurant in Philadelphia. F.A.V.O.R.I.T.E. The décor is right up my alley– rustic meets modern. Lots of wood work, a large bar, and a quiet industrial feel. Perfect non-pretentious vibe. It was my first trip to Amis and was my dates choice– he raved about it and couldnt believe i hadnt been there yet. We were a bit early for our reservation so we grabbed a cocktail at the bar. It was packed and the bartenders were attentive and quick to take our order. Once our reservation was ready we decided to sit at the chef’s table. The kitchen was clean and bright and friendly. Our server was quick to greet us and start us off bread and a refresher for cocktails. Once ready to order, I let my date take the reins. And I couldnt have been happier. We ordered the bufala ricotta and black pepper and Sal’s meatballs to start. Both were out of this world, insanely crazy delicious. The meatballs were so tender and the ricotta was served with this charred thick sliced seeded bread. We also got the Tonnarelli«cacio e pepe» with pecorino and black pepper and another dish which I can’t remember– not because it wasn’t good but because I probably devoured it too quickly. The tonneralli was rich and probably right off the boat from Italy. The service was just as impeccable as the food and just when we thought we were done — our server brought over complimentary Mom-Mom’s rice pudding which was phenomenal. I want to live here.

Came here for Valentines dinner and was thoroughly impressed. This is my first Marc Vetri restaurant and it did not disappoint. I Unilocaled some of the more popular selections before coming here. We ended up ordering the fried cauliflower and the swordfish meatballs for appetizers. The swordfish meatballs were perfectly cooked, but my mom makes her own fish balls and I couldn’t distinguish the difference in meatballs made with white fish and this swordfish — nonetheless, it was delicious. The fried cauliflower was great as well, didn’t really taste fried to me, more like baked? For our main course we had the Cacio E Pepe and Paccheri with Swordfish and Eggplant fries. I can’t speak much for the Cacio E Pepe, but the Paccheri was delicious and a very interesting looking dish. Slightly salty, but savory nonetheless. It’s definitely a foreign idea to me — paccheri in tomato sauce with basil, swordfish bites, and topped with a few eggplant fries. Somehow it worked, kudos Vetri. For dessert I had seen the Belgian waffles with nutella on here, so we had to have it. It did not disappoint. We were so stuffed at that point — the portion sizes were larger than I had anticipated.

Went there with some friends hoping for another lucky strike of good food. I started with the Bufala Mozzarella with Clementines and Walnuts, nothing exceptional to brag about! My friend, however, had the Baked Pecorino with almond honey, It was Warm, melted and looked amazing and I knew I had to try it. The saltiness of the gooey cheese and the sweetness of the almond honey drizzle was divine. I totally regret not getting it! Rigatoni with skirt rib ragu was my entrée. The home-made rigatoni was okay, not the best I ever had. Besides the tough texture, the chef was so generous with salt! Seriously, my pasta was extra salty that I thought either my blood pressure will be elevated or I will dehydrate. I think I did drink more than five glasses of water to compensate the highly-salt dish. After the disappointing appetizer and entrée, I was hoping that my dessert at least will be the«icing on the cake,“I believed that it will be hard to go wrong with the Belgian Style Waffle with nutella, vanilla semifreddo and toasted hazelnuts, it sounded as the winning combination. Again, it was decent, not really memorable. I had a bite of my friend’s Mom-Mom’s Rice Pudding looking for some comfort, I was dissatisfied. The chef complementary tiramisu was average! Nothing was memorable except the Baked Pecorino with almond honey, I will go again just to have it for myself! Disappointing highlights: 1/We weren’t seated until the rest of our party showed up– we waited at the bar. 2/Food took forever to come out, with long gap between courses 3/I’m even more disappointed because its part of Vetri’s family! Three Unilocal
