Established in 1986.

ActionAIDS was founded by volunteers and concerned community members who wanted to form an agency focused on caring for people living with HIV and AIDS. Today, ActionAIDS is the biggest AIDS service organization in Pennsylvania, providing case management and free HIV testing at 1026 Arch St.

I didn’t test here, but they do the rapid oral swab test. You know you’re results within 5 – 20 minutes. No need for blood draws for those of you scared of needles. And it’s free.

Those are walk-​in hours but calling in advance might be useful.

I came here during walk-​in hours, so I did have to wait around 20 minutes to be seen. However, the session lasted around 30 minutes (including testing) and had great counseling. The woman who tested me (Terri) was very compassionate and interested in finding ways to lower my risk for HIV. She did not come off as judgmental at all. Next time, i will make sure to make an appointment so I won’t have to wait as long, but I am planning on coming back here to be tested.
