Al long long time ago when the original Tombos was open we ate there all the time. My hopes were that this was them again and it is not. Even the original was all fried everything, but it had better seasoning or something. The food was just okay. I would not invite or bring or even bother asking anybody to go with me and to tell the truth I just won’t write home to mom about it! Even asked them about the original location and the server at the counter had said they bought only the name and can not use the original recopies! Shame actually … may or may not go back just not worthy of anything more really.

This place is just ok. The food is expensive for the quality, but not for the quantity. The service was slow. Tombos could be better, but I guess it could be worse. With so many other options I doubt I’ll be back.

PRICE: Wow! First of all, I was very scared to even try this place because of the poor Unilocal reviews, but I got a great coupon in the mail so figured it was worth a shot. The coupon was 50 wings, fries, and biscuits for $ 25. This would be $ 80 at BWW. But that’s just the price, the food was AMAZING. Keep sending out those coupons and I’ll keep coming. FOOD: I am a buffalo wing fan and have only lived here for 2 months and tried the wings at 10 different places. Tombos’ are the best(Sorry Lemos, you’re second now). The buffalo sauce was spicy and delicious. I honestly have not had that good of wings since I was at Duff’s in Buffalo NY. The lemon pepper wings were amazing as well. Seriously, these are the best wings around(and yes every sign on every little shack says that, but this is true). The fries and biscuits were great too. AMBIENCE: This was a takeout order, but I did see the inside. Tombo’s you’ve got a lot going for you when it comes to the interior, but a little work and effort would make you a local favorite instead of just«another restaurant.» The chalkboard menu is rustic and cool, but you need the rest of the shop to match that and the wooden cooler/chest. Put some hardwood down instead of the ratty carpet. Paint the wall and ceiling. The decorations are okay, but the walls look like cheap office building walls. Maybe get some old pallet wood and just use the wood as wallpaper — would go with the seafood theme. Great place and don’t listen to the negative reviews. Give it a shot, it’s definitely worth it.

I ordered the Jumbo Shrimp meal to go. It cost about $ 9(with tax) and had 8 fried shrimp, 3 hush puppies, and fries. The food was very greasy and slightly mushy. Also, the shrimp were not very flavorful and didn’t seemed to be seasoned at all. The fries were not seasoned either. The hush puppies were good though! The woman at the cash register was nice and helpful, but the ambiance was lacking. I will likely not be back.

I tried the shrimp poboy with crinkle cut fries. It was the BEST I’ve had in the area of Columbus! The service was great and the cook was super nice and made sure I was happy with my order. The shrimps were very crispy and the fries were great. Not greasy. My friends offered the fried pickles they were great as well.

:(I have only been once, and the food is about what you’d expect(fried everything), but they royally screwed up on my take-out order and did not offer to make it right, even after I called and told them that I had been given the wrong order. I ordered and paid for a fish dinner, but received a chicken one — didn’t notice until I got home… and there is a price difference. I can understand that the store just opened so they are working out the kinks, but the food was so greasy that it was already a guilty dinner solution for a busy weekday night… we won’t be giving them another try.
