Chiang Jan Xie DDS

I am sad to leave this place.
I was new to Austin and when I first moved here I needed a dentist.
I had heard horror stories from people who went to Castle, so I have stayed away from them (im sure they always aren’t like the experiences I have heard, but I just choose to find a place elsewhere) .
When I got in there, the staff is incredibly nice and there-​after, every time I went in, they always were very friendly.
Now, Chiang Jan Xie, The actual dentist — Love her. I have had a wonderful experience with them and she always hints at the regular bad for your teeth things that I do, such as soda, smoking, ect. (yay for me, I actually quit smoking!)
I have had some tough times with my teeth and well, they aren’t movie star quality at all, lol, maybe .0001% of that. She is always patient and gentle with me and we built up a great repor.
I personally like this place and once had a nerve so bad, we couldn’t work on it that day, the pain was ridiculous even under a numbing agent. She prescribed me some antibiotics and I was able to come in over the next couple of days, to have my procedure pain free.
This was a great dentist and if I hadn’t of moved so far away from them, I would gladly stay.

I have never seen a doctor that wants to rip a patient off so much!
This was my 1^st time seeing this doc and definitely the last time.
I found her from my insurance network, and made an appointment for routine exam. Went in today and made sure again with the nurse that they are in-​network, and I needed to do exam which my insurance covers. The doctor casually looked at my teeth, and talked with me very briefly, and she just sent me out the door and charged me for an outrageous CONSULTATION FEE. No chance during the appointment she mentioned instead of exam, she was doing a «CONSULTATION.» They requested me to pay immediately for the service I did not agree with and said as a «COURTESY», they will file to my insurance company, and reimburse if a «CONSULTATION» in covered. I tried to argue I came in only for an exam which I am sure is covered not a «CONSULTATION» that may not be covered, but the nurse just shut me off and said this is the way it is.
Crazy, isn’t it? Stay away!
