PRE: On a trip to Madison, Wisconsin my fiancée and I got the urge to play a round of golf. A quick GPS search and we arrived at Naga-Waukee. BIRDIESANDWILDTURKEYS. The hole after my first career birdie our game was interrupted by two wild turkeys casually walking across the fairway. Surreal. THECOURSE: Very well groomed course. Get our your driver. The course has a total of 6,830 yards with the longest hole being 552 yards. Hazards are minimal but the sand traps that are here will eat your ball. Fast greens. SPEEDOFPLAY: Fast. With a course this long most people have carts. There weren’t many players walking on this day. VIEWS: The back nine offers views of Pewaukee Lake. CLUBHOUSE: When we walked in I said«Wow, it smells like urinal cakes in here.»(First time I’ve ever said those words.) I later used the restrooms and there were six of them per urinal. Overkill! BATHROOMS: I believe there were two restrooms on the course, not including the clubhouse. A few water cooler stations also. PLAYAGAIN: Waukesha County Parks does an amazing job with this course. I will be back here often.

Place rating: 4 Waukesha, WI
This is by far, one of the best public courses you will ever play. This place has to push 100,000 rounds/year, which is high, but the grounds crew and superintendent should be highly praised! The course has great playability for all skill levels. The design is challenging, with the back nine offering spectacular views and great elevation changes. The greens are always in great shape rolling very true. Understand that this is a public course, and you get every kind of golfer there is, which can lead to some slow play. You can walk or ride, has a nice clubhouse, excellent practice green and hitting area. Rates are very reasonable for a public course; Waukesha county residents get a break. They’ll even let you sneak out for nine on weekends if you get there early enough. For under $ 50, «Nag» will stack up with the best public courses in the area. Only bent grass fairways keeps me from giving it a 5 Star.
