Jessica did a fantastic job on my balayage! She was referred by my girlfriend who got hers done as well. I’m from Sf and it was definitely worth the drive. My hair was over-​processed from do it myself roots. Hence my grays. She worked with it! Did her magic! She is super friendly and understands her clients needs. She was able to replicate the photo that I showed her from Pinterest. Got to love the Internet! I’ve gotten so many compliments and has already referred her. Totally worth the drive to Petaluma. If you want to get your hair ombré or balayage. I will definitely come back to see her prior to the summer do lighter for the summer days. I searched online for a salon in Petaluma for a few weeks, read countless reviews and finally thought that Structure Salon would be the perfect fit for me. The salon was cute, modern and had an industrial feel which I love. I booked my appointment online, so I was blind to who was cutting my hair, but I’m ever so happy with who I was paired with.
Madelyn was the stylist that cut my hair and she did an amazing job. My hair before was dry, frizzy, brittle and a mess. I hadn’t cut it in a year or so and it was time to do so. I wanted it shorter but had some reservations on how short, my hair had been extremely long for years. Madelyn took the cut with pride and got me excited to go shorter. She took her time which I love because I would rather sit for hours and have my hair look great instead of rushed and looking drab. She was very personable and sweet and she made my friend feel at home who was along for the ride. Now Madelyn has a new client that will come back and refer others to her. Thank you Madelyn and Structure Salon for the wonderful cut and experience.

Marin’s loss is Petaluma’s gain since September 2015. Angie had been styling my hair for almost ten years at the posh Edward’s Salon in Mill Valley (where she also served as the primary trainer for new stylists) before moving to Structure Salon. Her skills as a stylist and colorist are exceptional, and she listens carefully to your needs and wants. I can always count on leaving the salon with a beautiful cut and color. In addition, over the years Angie has become a good friend who helps me sort out the ups and downs of life with compassion, kindness and sage advice. I truly look forward to my appointments with her — even if I now have to drive 45 minutes each way. Take my advice and book an appointment with Angie soon before the secret gets out.

You really shouldn’t wait until your 60’s to get the best haircut, color, and style! It was not for lack of trying – driving to San Francisco, paying tolls and $$$$. Don’t get me wrong, I have had times when everything was working in the hair department, but I can honestly say that finding Angie was the FIND of my hair life. I was settling for average until my daughter told me about her and from the very first cut things have changed for the better. Angie is a color EXPERT. She is an outstanding stylist, cutter and human being. She has great intuition and knows all aspects of care! If you are looking for a change call her. The salon is great! Micky Guillen is an amazing hairdresser in this beautiful salon. She is very meticulous with her haircuts, colors and styling. She is very attentive to what you want and really listens. She has been doing my hair for years now and I wouldn’t go to anyone else. From brunette to blonde, pink, purple, etc, Micky is always up for the challenge. The salon is gorgeous, modern, clean and welcoming. I have always been greeted as I walk in the door and everyone that works here is very knowledgeable about the products. Parking is tricky, but there is a garage on the street over (Keller Street) with FREE PARKING, up to four hours. Book your appointment with Micky Guillen today!

Amanda Velasco is a great stylist. I have a vacation place in Russian River where I spend my summers. When I am in Sonoma County I have Amanda Velasco do my hair. She is awesome. The salon is really nice, great atmosphere. I love my cuts, I have very fine hair and she is able to help me get some volume. I am pretty critical of my haircuts and I have only found two hairdressers that really know how to work with my thin hair and make it look better. Amanda is one of them. She also highlights my hair and it always turns out pretty.

Mandy is an awesome stylist, the whole staff here is fantastic! Great energy and synergy amongst the staff. Everyone is very friendly and knowledgeable. I LOVE my color and cut,.and the champagne while I’m get’n Purdy! Been coming here for 2yrs and I cant say I have ever had a bad experience or even remotely close to a mediocre experience,. I stopped someone on the street to find out who did her highlights. Turns out it was Kat Savano so I scheduled a cut and highlights. My hair turned out great – super fun stylish and cute. well done!

Amanda Velasco is fabulous! I would not trust anyone else to cut my hair! I have been going to see Amanda for over 6 years. My mom and family now go to see her as well. We have always been amazed by our cuts and coloring. Plus she feels like family now and we always love to catch up with her!

I actually come here to see the new manicurist Tammy. I followed her from first hand, she’s fantastic!

To each his own — but my advice is don’t waste your time or money!
I was given a gift certificate and unfortunately, the person who gifted it to me decided to never go back AFTER giving me the certificate.
I had an appointment with the owner, Scott. I believe it was a Saturday afternoon and there was one other stylist working. I would expect a salon in downtown Petaluma to be a little more busy than that on a Saturday! I had to wait a while depsite me showing up early for my appointment.
I have long, naturally curly hair, so I wanted a cut & color to cover my few grays. Prior to this, I hadn’t colored my hair in about 2 years at least.
First of all, let’s talk about the cut — if you have naturally curly hair, DO NOT let anyone cut it dry! Scott tried to convince me that this technique was going to be great for my hair. He does a lot of talkin’ and no walkin’! I wasn’t convinced while I was there, and once I got home, I noticed even more how unevenly my hair was cut.
Second, color. Walking into a nice salon for the first time in who-​knows-​how-​long, I was expecting that the color was going to be great. The color (full-​head) turned out to be dull. He didn’t do any highlighting or anything and didn’t really make any suggestions either. Maybe he just saw ALL of my hair and thought to take the easy route. Basically, I could have done a better job coloring my own hair out of a box of hair color. As a matter of fact, my sister has done a way better job coloring my hair from a box! Also, when I went to get my hair fixed because of his crappy job, the hair stylist didn’t even know my hair had been colored a couple months prior.
And lastly, the style — if you could even call it that. *SIGH* I walked out regretting that I even went there. I definitely like my «before» better than my «after». Again, I have curly hair and he actually suggested that I style my hair while it is SOAKING wet, put product in it, comb through with a big-​tooth comb, then take EACH section of hair and curl with my finger. Yeah… Super practical, said no Mom ever. Besides, any stylist (or any human with common-​sense) should know that curly hair curls effortlessly, duh!
The gift cert was for $ 65.00 — the cost of a cut — so ON TOP of that, I spent an additional $ 85.00 not including the tip.

Professional from the minute you walk in to the minute you walk out. Drama free, stress free, great staff, great hair, and great products. Josh is a seasoned pro and I highly recommend him. He He gave me one of the best men’s haircuts I’ve ever gotten.

Love this salon! I get some of the best haircuts I’ve ever gotten. The downside is that the women who work there are very stuck up and spent a lot of time gossiping amongst themselves. Either way I get a fantastic haircut every time. I’d bring someone to talk to while they do your hair or you’ll be bored and neglected.

Here is my disclosure to the hardcore Unilocal users and other hard-​to-​please review readers: I do not have any biological or personal (aka) friendship ties with anybody who works at Structure Salon. I have not written any Unilocal reviews before and I usually do not like to write on social websites. I am doing this because I would like to share the deep thrill, satisfaction, amusement and unprecedented talent that I experience every time I visit my hairstylist Mandy Mason at Structure Salon.
Mandy was recommended to me by a co-​worker, whose wife I see only once a year in a black-​tie gala event put together by our generous employer. The wife of my co-worker…ohhh she always looks so gorgeous, classy, radiating beauty and all… But one thing that I’ve always admired the most is her hair! The HAIR is always cut to perfection, with multidimensional color and shine that can make you blind… and the texture — one of a kind. I always wondered whose hand created this perfection.
A few months ago I decided to end my agony and ask my co-​worker who does his wife’s hair. Traveling to San Francisco, Mill Valley and San Anselmo for the past 10 years to get my hair done at high-​end salons (you may call me an European snob), I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the stylist works in my home town, at Structure Salon in downtown Petaluma! My amusement and surprise grew even more when I first met Mandy — a beautiful young lady who greeted me politely, offered a glass of wine and patiently spent over 15 minutes talking to me about my hair needs.
The salon is a neat place — clean and tidy, modern and welcoming. I was pleased to see good hair products on the shelves and even though the salon doesn’t carry my favorite Oribe products, I was interested to read the labels and try some of these products. The excitement turned into a pretty serious observation on my part, when Mandy started cutting my hair. Working for an European TV channel in my past I had the pleasure of having my hair done by the best in the business, but Mandy’s technique is somehow unique. The speed and the precision of her cutting technique, the way she uses the razor to create a first-​class texture and shape is a clear statement of her talent. Along being a skilled hairdresser, Mandy is a genuine person, down to earth and easy going. You will never feel intimidated talking to her. She is not a cocky persona rescheduling your appointments multiple times and asking you to reserve your visits for a year in advance due to «heavy schedule and appointments with celebrities».
I’ve seen Mandy 3 or 4 times by now and every time I leave the salon I feel not only pleased with my haircut and color, but rejuvenated and thrilled about my new look. The compliments are pouring and I am never hesitant to share the best kept secret in town — Mandy at Structure Salon!

I started going to Structure Salon about 6 months ago as it was recommended by a friend. I have been going to Kelly ever since! I used to travel to San Francisco and had my hair done at a VERY high end salon. I am just as happy with Kelly. The salon is very upscale. Kelly is great at listening to what you want and she also makes great suggestions. The prices are very reasonable compared to what would pay in The City.

KEARSTEN LEDER IS A MIRACLE STYLIST/​COLORIST/​ARTIST.
I set up my first appointment with Kearsten over six years ago after falling in love with my cousin’s new hair style. My cousin and I both have long, thick, curly hair. That day my cousin’s hair was still thick, but it was smooth, shiny and flowing beautifully in a contemporary straight cut. I sat down in Kearsten’s chair a bit nervous as I’ve had many disappointments after trying out new stylists (bad orangey highlights instead of the honey ones I requested; frizzy kinda straight hair along with awkward cuts). I guess the others just don’t know how to cut my kind of hair. Not this time. Kearsten performed a miracle on my hair. My hair was gorgeous! Cut perfect. Highlights perfect. No frizzies. Soft and silky and best of all SEXY! I could not believe it. I trust Kearsten 100% and always get tons of compliments on my hair. I have A LOT of hair. It takes me forever to dry it and straighten it. I’m sure my appointments take a bit longer than the average cut/​highlight/​blowout due to all of my hair, but Kearsten doesn’t seem to mind or charge extra. I can style my hair either curly or straight thanks to her miracle cuts. The last time I went in I was contemplating getting lowlights instead of my favorite highlights because I won’t have time to see her within my usual timeframe. She highlighted my hair in a way that would not show the outgrow. Time and money saved right there thanks to Kearsten’s skills. I appreciate how genuine Kearsten is and the fact that she saved me money with her suggestion (even though her prices are very reasonable and less than I’ve paid in the past). I enjoy my time with Kearsten. She is not only a FANTASTIC stylist, but she is a lovely person. We chat and laugh the entire time (well until she starts drying my hair and the hairdryer (that she pulls down from the ceiling) lulls me into tranquility). When I leave I feel peaceful, refreshed and look fabulous. I drive 45 miles to get my hair done by Kearsten because she is the best. Structure Salon and Kearsten are a great combo. The salon atmosphere is friendly and fun, it’s easy to find and there is lots of parking right out front. Thank you, Kearsten for taking such good care of me. I am grateful for you!

Eva is my hair stylist and she is a hair ninja! She took my black Asian hair to a flattering shade of BLONDE! Yes, it can be done! Many hair stylists are afraid to make Asian hair blonde, but not Eva! We’ve maintained this hair color for almost 6 months now, and I still get many compliments about it. I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my hair!

Josh Sutton is the man!
Josh and I go waaay back and he’s been proudly doing my crazy mane for 10 years! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been stopped by people over the years and given out his card. I have difficult hair to begin with, super thick and weird curly, and he is a master at knowing how to cut it so it is manageable and attractive. He also is excellent with color, which not all stylists are. I’m one of those clients who likes to change my color every time I come in and he’s really great at understanding what it is I’m looking for and how best to achieve it. He’s also great at being honest with me and telling me what will work and what won’t, another rare quality that I highly value. A word of advice though: Tell him exactly what you like and don’t like, stylists are not mind-​readers!!! The more info you give him the more likely he is to give you what you want. And if it doesn’t turn out how you want it, Josh is always willing to do whatever it takes to get it right. Since my early days in P-​town I now live in Southern California, and yes, I STILL get my hair done by Josh when I’m up north. He’s that awesome!!!
Oh, and the salon is really nice too! :) Very clean and modern with simplicity being the general theme. Each station has a mirror and a shelf, no cabinet for tools, no clutter. The color mix and tools are kept in the center of the salon so the stylists don’t retreat to some hidden room in the back for 20 minutes while you wonder what’s going on. The hair dryers are suspended from the ceiling and retract when not in use, pretty groovy. I didn’t partake in any of the spa treatments but the rooms for pedi/​mani’s and the like look very comfortable and relaxing as well.

Wonderful atmosphere at this Salon, and very conveniently located in downtown Petaluma. My stylist is Josh Sutton, he does my color, cut and I get extensions from him. He is excellent with color. For all you faux blondes out there like myself, we know how hard it can be to find a good stylist that knows how to make your blonde hair look natural, shinny without damaging it or turning you orange. Josh nails it every time and it always looks blonde-​tastic. For anyone looking for extensions, I highly recommend trying them out, I love mine and no one can ever tell I have them in, which is a sign of a good stylist who knows what they are doing. At the end of the day Josh is a rockstar, so professional, always squeezing me in if I have a last minute hair need, very flexible, his clients needs always come first and he’s a really nice guy, at a really nice salon.

I love the atmosphere and all of the fun stylists! They are very professional and definitely fun! Located in a perfect spot in downtown Petaluma. I have my hair done by Mandy and she is fabulous! I always leave with amazing hair.
