Fourth and Sea serves up a really good version of classic drive-​in diner food, as well as salads, pasta, and seafood specialties: Fish and Chips, freshly ground Burgers, Calamari, Shrimp, Chicken, Philly Cheese Steaks, Miller Hot Dogs, Fabulous Fish Tacos, BBQ pulled pork sandwich, Chili, Clam Chowder, Homemade Milkshakes and ice cream treats, Shrimp Louies, Caesar and other salads, plus local Oysters. All sauces are deliciously homemade. This Winter (2011 – 0212) we are featuring Comfort Food specials to warm both body and soul, such as Roast Pork with polenta and black beans for $ 5.95 and Pasta Selections. 1 block to the Blvd Cinemas, plenty of free parking, patio as well as indoor dining, drive up service, all in a casual kid friendly atmosphere. History

Established in 2001.

This location was a Fosters Freeze for 50 years until the current owner took it over in 2001. Prior to this restaurant, the owner started Cape Cod Fish and Chips in Cotati, and before that managed «fine dining» restaurants for many years in Petaluma. With Fourth and Sea (a play on words with the location at 4th and C Streets in Petaluma) the owner strives to provide «fine dining» food quality in an affordable, casual, kid friendly venue the whole family can enjoy. The hamburger is lean chuck ground fresh daily. Dairy products come locally from Clover. The oysters come fresh from Drakes Bay Oyster Co. Produce is from a local supplier (and at times directly from the owner’s garden!) Great care is taken in food selection and preparation, as well as service, to insure every customer has a pleasurable, high quality dining experience.

Hands down, the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. Idk what they put in the batter, but it’s fantastic. Parking can get a bit hectic, and the wait for an order can take a bit if the line is long, but it’s absolutely worth it.

They really have it all going on here ! and something for everyone. The fish tacos are awesome. Garlic fries are sooo good, crunchy yet soft and just the right amount of garlic so its not overpowering. Fish… light and crisp coating, cole slaw perfect. I could eat here everyday AND I could afford their great food. So many wonderful choices I’ll just have to come back !

It all started with the vanilla malt. I thought to myself that I shouldn’t order it — what’s the chance a fish and chip joint is going to make a good one? So, when it was good, I was happily surprised. And I knew the rest was likely to be good. It was.
We had fish, prawns, calamari, and chips. It was all good. I preferred the shrimp to the fish but I did have to break away some of the breading to make it suit my taste. The fish had a better ratio of breading to meat. The calamari was just right. The garlic fries were great too.

Tried this place for the first time yesterday. Shared fish, prawn, chicken, garlic fries and bbq pork sandwich with my boyfriend. The portions were big and good for the price. $ 6 for bbq pork sandwich, fries and a soda. I had the small ice cream dipped in chocolate as well. I really like the prawns. They were my favorite of what I tried. The fish was good too but I wasn’t a big fan of the chicken. The chicken was like plain strip reminds me of frozen Tyson chicken strips. The batter on fish and prawns were really tasty. I like this place because the price is cheap and the portion size is big. Food is really oily though so definitely not diet friendly lol

First time dining here. The location and ambiance is nice. Food was great and reasonably priced for big proportions. Very good service. Polite and respectful employees.
I tried calamari and fish with garlic fries. Delicious! We also tried a pulled pork sandwich that was also tasty. Cole slaw was good.
There are two dining areas. We dined inside but there were just as many diners outside. Very laid back atmosphere good for families. We look forward to returning soon.

Such great fish and chips here! I came here on a whim and I was pleasantly surprised. Usually I’m not a big fan of fried foods, but I wanted to try this place since it’s been around a while and have heard great things about it. It’s located on the corner of 4th and C street (duh!) and right next to the movie theater in downtown. I ordered the fish and calamari combo, which also came with fries and coleslaw. They give you a big piece of fish and the calamari is covered with garlic, so you get a really tasty flavor. I love that they have three different types of sauces: tartar, cocktail, and vinegar.
Prices range in the $ 10+ region depending on what you order, but it’s fair since portions are so large and will definitely fill you up. In addition, servers are all friendly and efficient. I ordered to-​go and the food was quickly prepared and I left within 10 – 15 minutes.
Everything is so tasty and freshly prepared! Check this place out for an authentic UK inspired meal. If seafood isn’t your thing, they also have hot dogs and burgers on their menu. Dine in or call ahead and pick up from your car by driving to the side of the building (they’ll deliver it to you!). They also have a street-​side window where you can order from instead of coming inside. Definitely treat your sweet tooth and order a soft serve dipped in chocolate for dessert, you won’t regret it!

Some of the best seafood (AND cole slaw) in the greater San Francisco Bay Area! If you’re seeing a show at the Mystic Theater or going to a show at the Boulevard 14 Cinemas, and you want a meal that’s fun, affordable, and delicious, head for the neon ice cream cone. Underneath, you’ll find wonderfully fresh, well-​prepared seafood, from an almost-​over-​the-​top take on the classic fish sandwich to a fried oyster po’boy that combines New Orleans and northern California beautifully. It’s not a fancy place, and it can get loud when crowded – but once you start eating, you won’t notice any of that.

So I happened to be working in petaluma one weekend and looked up a take out restaurant near me. This popped up. I called the order in and they toñd me to pull up to the back door and they would come out to my car. awesome! I ordered 1 fish and calamari combo with garlic fries. They asked me if i needed tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, lemon, ketchup, vinegar and utensils. I said yes to everything except vinegar. They told me to. give them 15 minutes. When i got there they brought out my chocolate milkshake i ordered and charged my card at my car window. A few minutes later my order came out. I drove back to my work location and opened my food box. It looked amazing and tasted even better. Fish coating was perfect, calamari was sooo good! Cole slaw was good too. Fries were crispy and had lots of garlic. I will be back and try the other stuff. My fiancé is a huge fan of fish and chips. I will definitely bring her here on a suprise date and eat in.

In a word: Fan-​freaking-​tastic! The outdoor seating was delightful in the wonderful sunny weather. The fish and chips were top notch, or rather I should say ‘proper’. My granddad was visiting from England and he proclaimed them delicious and up to British standards. If that’s not a ringing endorsement, than I don’t know what is!
The chips are battered perfectly, crisp and light and full of flavour. Also, the servings are quite generous. Service is wonderful, we got into a long conversation with one of the staff members and it became clear how much Fourth & Sea values quality from how knowledgable this gentleman was.
Know you are in for a wonderful meal here, one that you can enjoy with the whole family. Bön appetite!

I’ve been meaning to write a review of this place since we tried it maybe a month or so ago. My son and I had the more traditional fish & chips and my husband had the grilled fish. We all loved the food! Best fish & chips I could remember eating in years – and portions were huge. That was my only regret – my son and I could have easily shared a single plate. Also, this place is a bargain. The restaurant is nothing fancy but it’s cute and clean. A great find.

late nite dinner… where to go… hey how bout that little place on 4th in petaluma? it was open and service was excellent! so you’re wondering why the heck didn’t you rate the place higher? wait for it… cuz it’s all about the food…
so my GF had the fish n chips, which amazing! right, that’s in their name… so what do i do? i try something else… the cheesesteak sandwich! ok, so i’m a little spoiled by the «real deal, philly cheesesteak» but this wasn’t even close and tasted horrible! the meat was tough and unseasoned, what’s up with that… skimpy on the grilled onions… can’t have that… and finally, skimpy real cheddar cheese… whoa! sorry this is not a granola, tree hugger sandwich!!! you gotta use processed cheesefood like velveeta, even kraft american slices or cheesewiz outta a can, ok maybe not the can… this isn’t a cheesesteak sandwich! ok, nuff said…
let’s go back to my GF fish n chips… lovely, fried goodness that melts in your mouth… and awesome tartar sauce!
moving on to the milk shakes… the GF had chocolate which was great… i had the strawberry, not so much…
so overall, her meal was excellent and mine was meh… maybe i’ll re-​rate them when i have a good meal there! couldn’t hurt…

Have to update my previous review. We went here the other night and I got … wait for it … the fish and chips. Seriously the first time I was trying to be healthier and opted for the fish tacos. This time I decided to try what they are know for and it changed my mind for the better. It was really good. The fish was perfectly fried, not greasy and not dried out. The fries were tasty and my husband was happy that they offer chili spaghetti — a personal favorite of his. He was also thrilled with the December shake of the month — gingerbread. This will have a slot in our regular rotation now.

This place is Terrific! The food is outstanding. Best Fish and Chips I’ve had outside of the UK!
And you can’t beat Soft Serve for dessert.
Prices are really good and serving sizes are great.
The staff are outstandingly friendly and efficient.
The décor is a bit frayed around the edges and is strictly fast food style, but it is spotlessly clean.
There isn’t anything on the menu I don’t want to try, and I will be back to do so!

Woah… this place is awesome!
If you’re looking for a causal bite to eat with a superstar ending — don’t think twice!
I was wowed from the start — we were a party of 5 and all proceeded to order our individual meals. At the end, the young lady helping us tallied our orders and suggested we get the family meal, which would give us the same amount of food and cost less. Wait — did you just watch out for my pocket instead of sucking us dry of our money? Wow #1.
She asked me if I’d like them to grill one filet for my toddler instead of frying. Wait — are you watching out for my child’s best interest, too??? Wow #2 and #3. (Yes, that deserves two wows!)
The food came out quickly, and it was amazing! Crunchy, light, awesome coleslaw, yummy chips. 5 out of 5!
…and as if all that wasn’t enough — you can end the meal with an epic dipped cone. Omigah… They’re what my dreams are made of.

Fried food is pretty binary. Either you do it right, or it’s mush and it’s wrong.
Fourth and Sea does it right!
Crispy fish, tasty batter, good fries, generous portions, fair prices. Cole slaw is basic, but done well — not limp or swimming in mayo.
Service may or may not be very quick, depending on what day you’re there. (But that seems pretty standard in Petaluma — it’s just a more relaxed place than Marin, for better or worse.) The people who work there have been genuinely and uniformly pleasant and helpful.
This is a super-​unpretentious spot for really good food.

Sweets, charming, nostalgic, a place to bring your family and make memories! I almost felt like I was back at my childhood neighborhood Foster Freeze enjoying good food and chocolate dipped cones, but with a more mom and pop feel. We loved it so much, we came back a few times.
Fish and chips. Good quality, no ‘fishy’ flavor, but they were diner fish and chips, which is what you should expect. Their salads were fantastic. My husband had the chili spaghetti and even though it sounded weird to me, I’m glad that I tried a bite. Yum!
My only complaint is that I had to leave it behind when I left town. Petaluma, you are so lucky to have this place!

I grew up eating here. Especially when my dad would pick up our Aunt Janie from the bus stop across the street. She would get the Foster Freeze ice cream in a quart and we would get the cones. I loved mine dipped in chocolate. Under new name and managers but I highly recommend stopping by for a fish taco. It is truly the best around. Hearty sized and fresh. I think it beats Mexican fish tacos but I like all fish. This place reminds me of great family memories.

Food: I had the two-​fish fish and chips entrée, and the spaghetti. It was a lot of food, so either come famished or have a big appetite. The spaghetti tasted exactly as I expected, a chili cheese-​flavored spaghetti; it was uneventful but hit the spot. The fish and chips were fried decently and was unadventurous in flavor. All in all, they were both better than I’ve had in a long time.
Environment: Petaluma is already a fantastic, quaint town and this shop just added to this charming vibe. Everything was so laid back and the servers were quite social.
Cost: Fair for the quantity of food.
Additional Notes: If I were to come again, I would order only one fish and chips to share.

I rate restaurants based on their category — and for a small burger stand, this joint is a solid five stars. Staff was extremely nice and attentive, the whole place was clean and friendly, and the food was great. Fits the 50s vibe of Petaluma perfectly.
A word of warning: their fish portions are huge! I ordered the two piece meal and was surprised how big the pieces were. If you have a moderate appetite, one should be enough.
And speaking of the fish — what a great tasting piece. Crispy, fresh, light, delicious all the way. For a fried food, it was pleasantly not oily. Fries were solid, and the coleslaw was great. I really can’t complain at all. Just a solid (and relatively inexpensive) place to stop in Petaluma. I’ll be back.

Ah, I love this place. For years I got the $ 4.99 pulled pork special. So good! And only $ 4.99? Sweet! Not sure if they still have that special or not, because once I tried the burger there was no turning back. Any of them. They are all good. No, all GREAT. You’ve got to love the classic car shows and that they open their lot to unregistered cars at american graffiti. The owners are locals and this business reflects that. What’s not to like?
