History

Established in 1993.

Craig is a freelance illustrator, designer, and visual storyteller with over 20 years of experience producing fine hand-painted and digital illustrations for murals, books, trademarks, and printed goods, and home interiors. He works in a wide range of styles and media, customizing each job to the needs of his clients, be they small businesses, non-profits, or large corporations. He holds an Masters of Fine Art in Visual Narrative from the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan.

Corporate clients include Banana Republic, Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn Kids, PBTeen, Target, LeftHand Networks (now part of HP), Nature Nanotechnology. Non-Profit clients include Commonweal, Bread for the Journey, Transition US, Seeds of Change, Seattle Public Schools, and the Woodland Park Zoo, also in Seattle.

Craig is so gifted, so intuitive, he blurs the line between mind-reading and basic client/artist relations. He understands my informal work style and is able to realize my sometimes imperfectly worded (or sketched) ideas.
The queen playing card is the finest work of graphic design I’ve ever commissioned, and it has made my work (teaching cycling skills) easier, because the card is IMPOSSIBLE TO IGNORE and so beautiful that even non-cyclists save it for their refrigerator art collection.
He is so fast in the turn-around it’s a little scary (when does he sleep?), and the finished work is something we are both very proud of. I’ll be working with him for my future book,

Craig designed the most gorgeous custom family tree for our son. It is the most beautiful and meaningful work of art in our home. At first glance it appears to be a lush oak tree with various animals surrounding it but upon further inspection you’ll notice that the names of family members are embedded in the branches and that each animal represents one of the names listed.
Craig worked closely with us to execute what was an initially vague plan and we couldn’t be happier with it. The tree hangs in our son’s room and will be a family heirloom to pass on. Every guest in our home lingers over it as it is true conversation piece. Thank you Craig!

Craig worked with me to create a commemorative piece of art for my Dad that had a northwest native american theme. The piece turned out wonderfully!
Working with Craig was great, he set clear expectations regarding deadlines, price, and product up front — so there were no surprises along the way. Also, Craig did a great job of keeping me up to date regarding the status of the piece.

I asked Craig to design my new business mark and typeface and he did a specdtacular job, on deadline with good feedback and contact throughout the process. He came to my studio to see what we did and how we did it, asked a lot of insighful questions about our work, and within the job timeframe came up with two designs, each of which he submitted variations on. When I didn’t like them well enough to use either of them, thanking him and writing him a check for his time he said «Okay, that means there;s a better design out there». We talked more about the nature and goals of my business. And then a week later he submitted somthing utterly perfect and wonderful and teriffic and fabulous.
He’s a perfectionist and very intuitive, he has a positive attitude to the max, has deep personal and professional integrity, he has a great hand, and he’s a very interesting guy with many insights and enthusiasms. I liked working with him very much and Ireally liked what he did for us.
