A Smog Test Only Inc

I had to get my car smogged before paying car registration renewal this past year. Had a Unilocal coupon and it was happily accepted. Nice people. Good place to go!

Good customer service, but at a high price… my recommendation: shop around a little.
My story: as I parked my car in the ample space of parking slots a friendly man with a smile told me he would be with me in a moment. I made my way inside their lobby, and waited approximately 30 seconds before he came in and took my information. He made the process quick and easy, and did so in a friendly manner. He informed me he had a few cars before mine and that I should come back in about an hour and it would be done. An hour later I came back and it was finished. I was informed the price was $ 70 for the smog test and certificate, which shocked me at first as this is $ 30 more than I have ever paid for a test and certificate. I paid, and left. I give it three stars as in my opinion the customer service was up to par, but the price is a bit extreme for the service offered.

Quick and efficient. Tiffany was friendly and helpful. She also honored my check in offer even though I showed it to her when I was supposed to pay and not before the service. Overall an enjoyable experience and would use them again for my smog needs.

OPEN ALL DAY SATURDAY. Other places (East Washington) have big signs saying they’re open on a Saturday, but then of course they actually aren’t. This place is. Takes about an hour, which is reasonable. The guy who runs it is very nice and efficient. All you can ask for.

Quick, easy, and good service! I’ll be back next time I need another smog. Cute bulldog in the waiting was a plus.

I have used this place many times over the last few years. I have found them to be very fast and thorough. Last year my old Toyota failed and they walked me through exactly what I needed to do the inexpensive way to get it to pass. I did that and came back and it passed with flying colors. I’m moving but I think I will come back to Petaluma to use them in the future regardless.

Today when I went in for my smog check, as usual, I got great, fast service here. I was in and out quickly (called ahead to find out if there were any others in front of me) and I even got some work done because they have great WiFi. Highly recommend.

I was really impressed with this place today. I work a full time job and its very hard to go to appt’s during office hours, especially when my boss is out of town. My registration was due and I needed a smog this year. I had a bad experience the day prior with another smog place that didn’t want to help me and seemed irritated that I brought a coupon. I showed up at 8 am when they opened to inquire about cost and when they would have an appt. The lady was very friendly and said they would get me in in 10 MINUTES, I was extremely surprised and grateful. I told her about the nightmare of the other place and she said while they are doing the smog they would take a look. Well my car passed the smog but I was told that I did need a repair coming up soon. They were extremely quick, I was out within a half an hour. I was treated just like the other gentlemen that came in. He even had a coupon and they treated him wonderful. I will return to this place again and will recommend this place to anyone that doesn’t mind paying a little extra for quality service. They take walk ins too, which is fabulous for us working career folk.

I can’t compliment this business enough. I dropped my car off at 12:30 yesterday for a smog check (per my registration) and they were done and ready for me to pickup my car not even 20 minutes later. This was my second time using them and each time they were so professional, fast and really nice. A little bonus is Mickey, the shop dog. He’s so sweet and friendly. I just love him & look forward to seeing him every time I have to return.

This is the best place to get car smogged. In and out ½ hour. It is easy to find and very professional.

It’s odd to overhear the owner complaining about the expense of worker’s comp and Obamacare and yet, here I am unable to pay with a discover card. I am not able to leave with my car. By making it difficult to give them money and putting up barriers to do business with people they’re clearly more interested in exerting power over people rather than making money… So I just waited for 3 hours, my car held hostage, and all because they choose not to take a debit/​credit card over the phone and don’t take discover.

I gave the place one star only because we have used them several times over the past several years and have had good service. Went in last week for what I thought was a normal test and go. My touch had been off line as I had broken ma ankle. I and the truck were down for 12 weeks. Because of this I installed a new battery. Well after paying for a smog test I was told that it had failed because the battery had been out, thus erasing the computer memory chip. Would he give me any slack. No way. He even crossed out the free retest on the column I had used. Went to Daves’s Auto today. They could not have been nicer. Asked me several questions before starting that would have eliminated my problem. 10 min. Passed with flying colors. Thank you Dave’s Auto Repair

I went there this morning and was quoted a price of $ 80. I asked if they would honor a competitor’s coupon which was for $ 36.75 and Tiffany said «That’s what they say you will pay but that’s not what they will charge you.» To which I replied, «Well, I’ve taken my other car there before and that’s what they charge plus $ 8 for the certificate.» I then proceeded to ask whether they would honor their competitor’s coupon and she replied, «absolutely not!».
Now, keep in mind this place was a ghost town-​nobody else waiting at all. Needless to say, I took my business to the competitor less than 2 miles across town and paid $ 45 total. Totally worth the $ 35 savings and friendlier people, too.

When did smog checks get to be such a scam business? Total fly-​by-​night feel to some of these places that have set up shop in defunct service stations… Well, here’s another over-​expensive smog place in Petaluma. Wanted 70+ for a smog and would not honor their online coupon unless it was printed out in advance, then kept my DMV paperwork.

I would like to add my «two cents» about this operation. I got there on a Saturday morning (on my way to work) with no time to spare. The gentleman who works the front showed up, put my truck into the bays, then handed me a form to sigh (the usual work order). Never mentioned what it was going to cost (although it was written in VERY SMALL print on the corner in the top of the form, and of course, I was only looking at the bottom where I sign) After he finished, he hands me the bill and it’s $ 75.00. Had I been told the price before they finished it I would have told them to take it off the machine and I will go elsewhere. There are AT LEAST a half dozen (some recquiring coupons) shops who will perform this service for $ 50.00 I returned later to discuss this with «Sweet Tiffany» to absolutely no avail. All she could do is give me a bunch of crap about how experienced their techs are. Tiffany, do I care? A smog is a smog is a smog. All this is after I have been getting a smog (I have to do three vehicles) for years at $ 50.00 They will never see another dime of mine.

i liked the idea of this business very much. they took an old gas station and added a drive thru coffee/​food business and they specialize in quick and cost effective smog tests. kudos for re-​thinking the wheel.
