As a new homeowner I had three quotes to get shutters installed. Avalon’s prices were the ones to beat. So why do I give them 5 stars, let me explain. The installers showed up early, were professional, polite and friendly. I felt safe with them in my house (no weirdos), but I was less than happy with the corner living room shutter. So I had the installer take pictures of it and I also wrote comments on the final sign off sheet. So I paid in full and signed the final sign off, but they still contacted me let me know that they were making me a custom piece and would be out to reinstall it. How many times is it hard to get company’s to respond to issues after you have paid? If you’ve had a lot of things done to your home, like carpet, blinds or whatever you know it’s a pain in the ass, I didn’t feel that way from Avalon. They were determined to make me a satisfied customer and they certainly did, my custom piece looks perfect. Just wanted to give a big thank you to their installer Gabriel for being professional and very customer oriented. At least with my experience I highly recommend this company, thank you Avalon.
The guys that came were from Avalon Shutters and not Home Depot as others have stated, maybe they have changed their policy, not sure but my husband is in construction and he works with Home Depot guys all the time and for sure these guys were not from Home Depot.

If you are looking for shutters, look no further! I purchased shutters for 11 windows on the first floor of my home and now that they are installed, I can’t wait to do the second floor! During the initial consultation, Tim did an amazing job helping me choose what was going to work best for our windows. I knew nothing about shutters beforehand but now I kind of feel like a shutter pro ;-) Craig the measure technician and David the installer were awesome too! Their attention to detail really paid off because my shutters look amazing. Everyone was prompt and very pleasant to work with and I couldn’t ask for more. Thank you Avalon Shutters, you have my highest recommendation!

Scheduled an appointment with me 6 days in advance. Never showed up. Never called. Even arranged by Home Depot. Thanks for wasting my Saturday.

I ordered the shutters on 06÷18÷15 and had the tech measurement on 06÷25÷15 then I did my Avalon rating review after the measurements. I was a little worried after reading some of the negative comments so I told my wife to standby for a long wait. I was expecting that the install will be around late August or early September. But to my surprise, I got a call from Avalon on 07÷16÷15, (less than 4 weeks after technical measurement) and the lady on the phone told me that they are in the final stages of completing my shutters and asked if they can install the shutters on the 24^th or the 25^th, I wasn’t ready yet so I told her to do it on 07÷30÷15.
On 07÷30÷15, the installers, Israel Aguilera and another gentleman arrived at or about 10:00 AM and started installing the shutters, they worked non-​stop, very professional, knew what they were doing and finished around 1:00 PM. It took them 3 hours to install 16 shutters, I was amazed. I didn’t think they can finished in 3 hours, I was expecting like about 5 – 6 hours completion time. While they were installing the other shutters, I was inspecting the ones they got done and told my wife to QA their job also, my wife and I did not find any discrepancies. I still check them until now and still haven’t found any problems. The shutters look awesome, my wife and look at them everyday and say, «wow they look beautiful». I wanted to have these shutters over ten years ago and I finally got them now. There were some noises when closing a couple of shutters but Israel showed me how to tighten and loosen the vanes so I took care of that problem. I would highly recommend Avalon to everyone. I did not have any problem at all. Thank you Avalon.

I have always been somewhat hesitant to make the commitment to go to wood shutters due to the costs involved. Avalon Shutters had a representative come out and measure my home for installation on all my newly installed windows and showed me various choices that would work for my home. The material was great, the representative very informed and I felt good about buying American made. I was given the pricing and quite frankly I then needed a few days to digest the pricing, etc. because it is a major investment. Several days later I did make the call to move forward and was given a timeframe of when they would be at my home to install. They were spot-​on with the arrival date and the two guys they sent out to install were simply AMAZING. Fast, effecient and very professional. I LOVE my new shutters — especially the one that I ordered for my patio slider door. Unreal. Electricity bills this summer have been so much lower, they look amzing and everyone that comes to my home continues to compliment me on the upgrade. Highly recommend this company.

I contacted Avalon based on a referral from a friend.
Pros:
1) quick to schedule free in-​home estimate,
2) salesperson was friendly and knowledgeable about the company; although he was quite a talker.
Cons:
1) too much trash talk about competitors,
2) kept asking for the names of other vendors I’ve received quotes from,
3) made a mistake on my original quote, forgot to include a large window. Corrected quote was the same as original quote which means lots of discretion/​wiggle room on pricing,
4) contractor for Home Depot and Lowe’s which was a negative for me,
5) longer delivery time than competitors, probably because of 4) above.
Overall pricing was mid-​range of the 5 quotes I received.
However, the reason they got 1 star is that after I sent a nice note to the salesperson declining to use them, he called me to make sure I was sending the email to him. He was so surprised that I didn’t choose Avalon, repeatedly asked for the name of the company I’m choosing (which I did not give), and whether it was a U.S. manufacturer because he was sure it must have been Chinese or Mexico-​made and an inferior product. I assured him I did my research and was satisfied with the company I chose. He continued to talk about how customers don’t know anything and that he needed to help and save me the heartache of going with someone else, to educate me properly, blah blah blah.
Nothing more annoying than a pompous salesperson who thinks that customers are dumb and don’t do their homework, and has no problem trash talking about his competitors. Never a good thing to make yourself look good by putting someone else down. Perhaps Avalon should include that as part of their salesperson training.

First I have to say what a great experience I had with Avalon Shutters. I previously had shutters installed 7 years ago from another company and let me tell you… do not buy anything but American made. They are cheaper for a reason. The shutters were half the weight than Avalon Shutters and they were only 5 year warranty, which they barely lasted 7 years. It was a nightmare to get repairs and adjustments. I heard about Avalon through a friend. From the appointment to the installation we had no problems and 8 months later… still satisfied. We visited their factory to check how legit they were and man they are the real thing. They have a milling plant with different machinery in a huge factory. Everything is made here from scratch. That sold me and they have been in business for 30 years. All wood and poly shutters and top quality with a lifetime warranty. I should have spent this money and made this investment the first time. I have been referring my friends and family and they agree with my recommendation and review. Great job Avalon. Take time to see the value in the quality and purchase. With Avalon it is only a 1 time purchase. Im happy to write this review. I waited a while to see if my view would change but it got even better.

I wish I could give this review less than 1 star, but I guess that’s the lowest I can give. I paid Avalon Shutters a few thousand dollars to build custom shutters for a sliding glass door and one window. One of the panels of the shutters was hard to open and close, and the louvers cracked. After complaining for months, I finally got them to come out and look at the issue — I thought to just replace one cracked louver. The tech said all of the panels were separating and needed to be taken back, taken apart and reconstructed. This defect was under the lifetime warranty. They told me they would have them for around 10 days. They had my shutters for almost 3 months, which means they were sitting in their warehouse not being touched on a very low priority. When they tried to return them the first time, the panels were badly damaged with gouges in them from some kind of tool, dried glue on them, and wear on the bottom where they had obviously been resting at their warehouse because they don’t touch anything when they’re hanging in my house. I refused the 1^st attempt to install, and the tech agreed. They promised to properly fix the damage they caused. Another month later they brought them back and they had not been fixed at all. The only thing they did was to put some weird substance (putty or paint?) in the gouges that didn’t match the finish. They refused to fix the damage they caused and sand and refinish them to hide the damage. They said if I didn’t accept the panels they would never return them again. Then the installer put them in very roughly, banging on them, and more shards came off from one of the panels right in front of me! I wish I could post the pictures I have to show anyone who is considering buying from them! I immediately sent pictures to the general manager, who said he would talk to his boss and see what he could do. I then never heard from them again, despite many attempts to call and email. Weeks later she finally responded stating she looked at them, and she felt looking at the damage in dim light from 10 feet away wasn’t that bad! They would not be doing anything to fix the damage and my only recourse is to contact the Contractor’s State License Board, which I of course have done, and now must go through some type of mediation. I wish I had never trusted them and let them take my shutters. The workmanship wasn’t good at all, but any attempt to fix them just made them look like they threw them on a trash pile for a few months then returned them. No… I wish I had just gone to Maggie Shutters like my neighbors did.

so update to my long saga: shutters were finally installed and finished by ¹⁰⁄₂₀₁₄ and they look awesome!
I would give them 5 stars if it wasn’t for the many delays. It took over 4 months for them to complete the job and if I knew ahead of time, it will take 4 months, I would’ve been okay with waiting 4 months. What bothered me the most was not knowing.
To Avalon shutters (if you happen to read this): you guys do amazing work; just be upfront with your customers and tell them it takes 4 – 5 months to get the job done. I think if people know ahead of time, they won’t get frustrated like I did.

From the quoting through to the installation, I was very satisfied with Avalon. I had 5 windows re-​done with plantation type shutters and a skylight done new. The quality of the product is very good, and the installation was done very nicely and on time. The whole process took about 6 – 7 weeks. They are not the cheapest, but they are reasonable, considering the quality and service.

Just typical shotty salesmanship. Yes they are made here in good olé San berdooo but they’re a full 35% more expensive than the average of the other four quotes we received.
Just received a call from some jackass salesman in the office who asked about our quote and noticed that we didn’t act yet. When I explained the cost as an issue I immediately got «WELL YOU KNOW THOSE CHINESE SHUTTERS» literally arguing with me. As if arguing with me is going to make me think «oh this asshole yelling at me on the other side of the line must be right, I should pay $ 7500 after all the „exclusive discount“ instead of $ 5500» he closed with «you’ll regret your decision and call us in five years». I think if the company I went with had substantial issues after five years they would not have perfect Unilocal reviews.

I recently bought 5 sets of Avalon Shutters for my living room and kitchen thru Home Depot, and must say the shutters are excellent. it takes some time for them to manufacture (3 – 4 weeks), but the quality is great, and the installers very professional. I like the attention to detail that the installers Jose & Carlos demonstrated. I think the company may now be located at 3407 N. Perris Blvd in Perris CA. In any case, they did a great job, and I can highly recommend.

We ordered shutters for 3 windows and a door on May 2^nd. I was promised them in 4 – 6 weeks. At 6 weeks, they said another week, after that week went by, they said another week.
After 10 weeks of waiting, I started calling them, they didn’t return my calls. Finally got a hold of someone, I started raising hell.
Presto, my shutters are magically ready and they want to install the next day.(July 3, 2014) yesterday.
The reason I’m giving 3 stars is 1 star for the service, 5 stars for the shutters. The shutters look fantastic.
I think they have so much business to handle that they push people off until they are angry to buy some time for the install.

At this point I am very disappointed in Avalon Shutters. I was initially told by Joe Garcia that it would take 4 – 6 weeks for my order & installation. When I signed my contract the operator told me closer to 5 weeks. Well its been 6 weeks & I hadn’t heard a word. I sent Joe a text asking for a status update. He never responded but apparently accidentally called my phone then hung up after the 1^st ring. I still have not heard back from him. He was quick to return my calls during the buying process but I doubt I’ll here from him again since he’s probably already been paid his commission off of my sale. I called the office the next day and was told it would be another 2 weeks. So it’s actually a 2 month process. I have an event planned at my home this coming weekend and my shutters will not be here. I suggest if you’re gonna use this company make sure it’s not based around an important event and you could really care less about how long it’ll be because they’re estimated time slots are way off. Hopefully mines will be here the week of the 14^th as I was told today. We shall see.

One of the Worst Co. I had to deal with…
Ordered shutters 2 months ago and still no shutters! I called Avalon to check on the status of our shutters and was directed to voice mail. I left a detail mesg. And of course no call back. After a few days past the coordinator called to arrange a date and time when the installers could come out, I gave the coordinator several dates and times as to when this could happen… Well low and behold Not even a call back, tried to call the field rep. and he too doesn’t return calls. Going to try to contact the Manager and see if that person returns calls… My bet is NO!
Next will alert Home Depot as they recommend Avalon Shutters as their installers for their in store product…
Don’t Do Business with this Company… They paint a pretty scenario and don’t come through!
We’ll what do you know? Called back seeking to speak with a Manager and Brenda from scheduling got on the phone to schedule a date and time for installation… I wonder if I didn’t call back seeking to speak with a Manager would Brenda have called me to schedule… To fishy for me…
Never again will I do business nor would I recommend them to anyone!

Do NOT use this company! Horrible job. Did not deliver what they said they would. Took longer than they estimated. Installed the wrong shutters and will not correct the problem. The shutters are poor poor quality (rough cuts on ends, chipped paint, cheap hardware, etc).
My shutters I waited for, are a nightmare! They promised single panel, gave me double panel and it is MY problem. Open in the wrong direction… etc.
Do not waste your money here!

I was pleased with how quickly I could set up an appointment to have Joe G., Sacramento region rep, come to my home for a consultation. He was receptive to my concerns and was great at describing the product.
I ordered my shutters through Home Depot the next week and it took another week to schedule the second measure consultation. I didn’t hear from Joe G, but reached out to him about three weeks later to check on the status of my order. He said it was scheduled for a particular day (approx. 4 weeks after that second measurement).
However, three days have passed since that day and I had to reach out to him again for a status update. My order has been delayed a week. Why? Oh, well that’s Home Depot’s fault. You know, when a big sale happens, that increases demand. Well in this capitalist society, a company should increase production, especially if they have rolling sales with a national company. You have to expect increased demand and plan accordingly. I finally pressured Joe G. enough into an apology. I won’t have my shutters for an event at my house and I’m quite disappointed. When I shared this with Joe, he said he didn’t know I had a deadline. But would that have mattered?
He says he’ll have to check again later this week to ensure that they are in fact arriving on the second date he’s provided. If this product is made in the U.S. and you are the sole distributor for a major company, you have to be prepared for order influxes.
5 weeks and counting and no shutters. :(
ll post again when the second due date arrives. I can’t schedule an installation until the shutters actually arrive (they must be used to late arrivals. Funny that the company anticipates that.) and we’ll see how long it takes to install.

Avalon Shutters installed my shutters over a year ago. At the time I was so impressed with their great customer service but now I am beyond impressed! They have come out twice now to fix my sliding blinds free of charge… no questions asked! They’re always professional & curtious… Which in this day & age is SO difficult to find! They are that «old fashioned» customer service every business should strive for. Thank you Avalon Shutters:-)

Avalon was very responsive to my concerns/​complaints and set-​up an appointment to fix our shutter frame. I was not able to update my review before leaving on vacation for a month and just saw the response from Avalon on Unilocal.
Overall, a good company. I still have concerns over the frame coming apart so soon after it was installed.
