Clean, friendly, prices are terrible. Only run in for milk and bread when we get low and don’t wanna make a drive.

The only reason this place gets one star is because they have the friendliest cashier of all time.
If you’re not going to visit the world’s happiest cashier, don’t go.

Wakefield, MA
I like to stop and check out smaller (unknown to me) stores, especially grocery stores because sometimes you find the neatest stuff and really good prices. Unfortunately, Donelan’s really wasn’t anything special. I also found the place to be pretty dirty. Grimy surfaces and I wasn’t too sure about some of the displays. The selection wasn’t very good and the prices were not cheap. I couldn’t see shopping there on a regular basis. I will say the line moved fast and the cashier was friendly.

It’s the market you go to because there is no other market close. Small, not a big selection, and very expensive. The checkout staff is always nice and friendly, and they have somewhat of a prepared meals section, but those are about the only redeeming qualities.

Groton, MA
This is the closest market to us and we have been going there several times a week for about 30 years (which predates Donelan’s). The last few years they have done a better job of trading off variety with limited space. You can often find what you need if you ask. Not as much selection as Acton or LIttleton but they are a lot bigger stores. The butcher has improved the meat selection and quality. You still need to check the dates (particularly on the chicken) but they often have a pretty good array of protein or they can cut you something from the back. All in all its pretty darn good for little old Pepperell.

Andover, MA
This location and Groton’s store are Donelan’ s trashy stores. I wish this market was half as nice as the Donelan’s in Acton or Littleton.
Pros: convenient location, friendly staff, ok produce.
Cons: poor selection, not very clean, frequent freezer burn with frozen goods, expired food still on shelves, pricey.

Its where I go when I need a couple things. Prices are high, produce isn’t the greatest, hot foods aren’t bad, seafood doesn’t look appealing.
