I’ve lived in the same apartment(owned by S&S) for 12 years. As a tenant, the one thing you can be absolutely sure of, it a complete lack of respect. A month never goes by that a ridiculously worded letter won’t come in the mail, usually«informing» me of «yearly mandatory city inspections» that will be taking place. Last year I had three of these«yearly» invasions of privacy. During that same time(and until NOW), I have had a call in to repair my bathroom floor, and it has yet to be accomplished. I’m 100% sure when and if they ever decide to do this, they will show up unannounced and try to barge in as if they live here. In the newest rudely worded and imposing letter, I have been informed of yet another«MANDATORYINSPECTION», in which it states that I will incur a fee of $ 50 if I am not here to let them in. The appointment(which I did not make) is for the middle of the day on a Thursday, less than a week away. In the same letter it states to make sure they have a key to your apartment in case you aren’t home, which is entirely redundant based on the fact that you cannot change your own locks and it says so plainly in your contract… Also, since they have your key(obviously), why the threat of a fine? Just bad business practice. It feels like I’m living at a state owned facility… After being a tenant for more than a decade, I routinely receive«fines» and eviction notices, the very next day after rent is due, even though my rent has been PAIDINFULL. When I call about the misunderstanding, I’m told to «just ignore the letter», as if it’s fine from a business standpoint to wrongfully send notices to vacate a premises. And more than once… I take care of my home, pay my rent, and have never given them any trouble whatsoever. With this in mind, know that they will never promptly fix anything, treat you like a human being, or tell you the truth about why they want to come snoop around your house.(I’ve checked with the city, and 3 inspections yearly is in no way mandated.) Even though I’ve paid them over 75,000 dollars in a decade, I get more threats than respect from these horrible people. Oh, and my rent is randomly raised in ten dollar increments whenever they feel the need, with no prior warning or reasoning behind it. If you decide to rent from these guys, make sure you don’t enjoy things like privacy, respect, or well maintained facilities.
