Update– I am now a regular customer and have had dozens of items altered. They do an outstanding job! I would trust them with anything I buy no matter the price. I’ve had cheap Target dresses altered to look more high end, and designer dresses that I wouldn’t take to anyone else. I’ve had two tricky alterations of Tadashi Shoji gowns with ruching, asymmetrical hems, and on one Holly had to re-do the hemline to get it just right… At no extra charge. Knowing Holly has changed the way I shop! I will often buy something– bring it to her with tags on and if she says she cannot alter it to fit like I want, I return it–(It’s not often that she can’t fix it– but she is honest and will tell me if it just isn’t for me or if we adjust here it will bulge there and it just won’t look right etc) They are also exceptional with jeans hems– they turn out perfectly straight and Holly has an eye for things I wouldn’t think of but make a huge difference– like the exact right color of thread. I have had Joes jeans, Citizens of Humanity, David Kahn, & James Jeans all hemmed or taken in at waist. One I wanted to keep original distressed hem and it looks amazing. I’ve had my husband’s items altered as well– jeans, work trousers, and a wool overcoat with pocket edges kept tearing– even though my husband had them fixed by a different tailor. No rips after Holly fixed them! Best wardrobe advice is to do what I recently did– Go through your closet and find all the things you don’t feel great in– take them to Holly and if she can’t fix them or tells you they are not the right shape or cut for you, give them away! We are lucky to have such expert alterations in Peoria!

After three great experiences here, my review is long overdue! First, I took in some dress pants that were fairly simple as I just tell them the inseam length in inches that I want so there isn’t any trying on. But no problems and they were done on time and very well stitched to match the material. Next visit was a dress that I bought super cheap and didn’t want to spend much on altering. It had a lining but it was extra to have that hemmed too so I just told her to do the outside layer I would cut the lining and leave it unsewn. She was professionally horrified :) and told me she would just do it at no charge so it wouldn’t fray. I also needed this one done in a few days and they were able to deliver no problem and no extra charge for the rush. Most recently I took in a couple of skirts to be both shortened and taken in on the sides which was done really well. The excess material was left inside the skirt in case(probably) they need to be let out again. I have not yet had an «original seam» hemming done on jeans but they do offer that and they have a great example chart up on the wall showing a bunch of actual jean hems and what each one is called and priced. They are open on Sunday too which is just great for me being a M-F/9−5 girl with so much packed into each Saturday already. I have been thrilled with all my newly fitting clothes so far and I hope this shop is here to stay! This business is CASHORCHECKONLY but you pay when you pick up and she makes sure that you know cards are not accepted before you leave.
