Peoria Sports Complex

My spring time home for baseball in March.
I’ve been coming here since the place opened and it’s still my favorite spring training venue in the valley of the sun. This year (2015) the complex surprised me and has spruced up the park, bravo it needed it. One of the highlights of coming to the Peoria Complex is how close to the action you are compared to Safeco Field which you could be miles away from the play. Players are friendly and eagerly await the autograph hunters. If you get there early enough the Mariners will sign outside the stadium and inside as well. Sometime even from the dugout if your lucky… However beware of bats and balls cause your and they do come into the stand and will crack your skull open.
You’ll find many food stands around the out field ranging from Gyros to BBQ so don’t eat breakfast before you come. Coming to the park is always a good experience but even better in March when in its in the 80’s and Seattle is freezing cold.

Good place for baseball but the park should better plan the snack bars for periods in between games. The park is starting to show some age and wear but it is still a nice place in the padre side. The matinée side needs better seating.

My family and I spent the last Fourth of July here with some friends and it was a lot of fun. They had plenty of vendors selling food and alcohol. It was pretty packed but nothing too bad!

A very fine sporting facility that hosts many different kind of events! Mostly baseball of all different kind of levels.

My first experience with the Peoria Sports Complex (PSC) came about when I was attempting to get information on the PSC. I was seeking information on the the facility and the Padres while planning a trip. I called this number and that number which eventually led me to the Padres organization, who then referred me to PSC ticket office itself.
I was immediately impressed by the gentleman on the other end of the phone who was an awesome ambassador of Arizona hospitality. He let me know certain particulars of the operations and assured me I would be able to quickly figure the other uncertainties.
We purchased our tickets on the MLB website and anxiously awaited our trip to the Grand Canyon State for some fun and rest and relaxation.
Our preparation would have use the city of Glendale as our base camp. The complex was but a hop, skip and jump down the 101, always seeking the W. Bell Road off ramp.
Parking is a breeze! The representatives of the PSC, run a tight ship and their instructions on where and how to park were on point.
The ticket takers were all smiles and very friendly. This was what I experienced throughout the complex. Everyone from the concessions to the ushers seemed genuinely happy to assist and took pride inter positions.
On this trip we were supporting the PSC teams. Me and the Boy’s Padres and the GF’s Mariners.
There is not a bad seat in the house and the feeling is very interment, from the ball park, autograph alley, to the practice fields.
My hat is off the Padres organization for making us feel welcome in the admin building and happily helped us with figuring out the practice schedule.

Great stadium for baseball, shared by the Seattle Mariners and San Diego Padres. If you want shade, buy tickets in the upper level. Sunscreen is dispensed in the bathrooms if you forget yours. Good variety of food. Excellent beer choices. Seattle and San Diego beers are nicely represented. The upgrades to the stadium are great. Don’t forget to take in the views from the new upper deck patio, which has a full bar. Hats off to the Padres players. They are always very gracious in signing autographs. All the staff: vendors, ushers, concession, are all very friendly. This is my «must go to park» for Spring Training.

This place is pretty amazing. It is equipped with plenty of tailgating space and has so many beautiful surroundings. Being at Spring training just couldn’t get any better.
The complex is spacious and the staff is always friendly well organized. Once you enter, there are numerous vendors of all shapes and sizes to explore. While I didn’t try anything, I can guarantee that a few places smelled too delicious to pass up next time i’m around!
The grass area is beautifully green but also quite warm, so be equipped with a beach towel /​blanket and some sun screen if this is your route of view. As a complex wanderer, I can honestly tell you that all seats in the house are the best. You can see well from all areas and the access to players is great for fans of all ages.
Overall, the location is ideal, being that is conveniently located by many other restaurants and bars. And parking is only $ 5. So you can’t complain. It is beautiful, welcoming and filled to the brim with interesting characters that make the experience that much more fun. Rumor has it, Rick Flair frequents the area… so keep an eye out!

PADRES SPRING TRAINING
We used to live in San Diego and had season tickets way back when. The Padres are now my son’s favorite team (by default) but the only way he can watch them is on a special Fox Sports San Diego channel 227 we get specifically to watch Padres baseball. My son got to meet, take pictures and get autographs with almost the entire Padres team during Spring Training, making this the highlight of his Spring Break.
Where else can you get up close and personal with this many players? I’m sure the players get tired of signing things but they made a huge effort to ask my son questions while they signed his ball. Compared to Camelback Ranch, which was the only other field we visited, this was a much better experience with way more opportunities to interact with the players. (Keep in mind the Padres aren’t exactly the fan favorite here in Arizona).
LOCATION
This field is about a 25 minute drive from Phoenix, with quick access on N 83^rd Ave and W Bell. The last time I came here (maybe 15+ years ago), I thought it was in the middle of nothing. Now there is a Cheesecake Factory, PF Changs, Hooters, Target, Trader Joes, and all kinds of other great places within walking distance from the stadium.
PARKING
$ 5 to park in front of the stadium. We arrived early and the parking guy told us we could park in the back (take Paradise Lane) East lot to watch the Padres batting practice. I think the players’ lot is right there too so you can wait there after the game to get a glimpse of them leaving.
BATTING PRACTICE
It’s free to watch batting practice. We went on a day that the Padres were the «home» team, and the ENTIRE team was out. We got there at 10am (for a 1pm game), but they had already been practicing for a while. The entire team was there. Minor league, Major league, batting coaches, pitching coaches (we saw Trevor Hoffman, my favorite!). If you want autographs, catch them as they go back to the clubhouse from these fields. This was the highlight of the whole experience, so don’t miss this part!
TICKETS
Since this was the whole reason for going to Arizona, my husband bought 2 really good tickets next to the dugout way ahead of time. I bought 2 lawn tickets on game day ($ 10) just to get us inside the park. They do have value games when lawn seats are $ 5, which is a great deal. (Just for comparison, when we went to Camelback to see the Dodgers, the game was sold out by the time we got there, so I just dropped the boys off and took my daughter to the zoo. If you fly or drive far to get here, buy your ticket ahead of time just to make sure you get in.)
AUTOGRAPH ALLEY
Once inside the stadium, there is a place between 1^st base and right field where the players enter the stadium. We had more luck getting autographs at batting practice… most of the players are in a hurry to get to the game at this point. My son was thrilled to see these guys up close. While waiting at autograph alley, we got some interesting helpful hints for signing baseballs from the people who do this kind of thing often.
1. Use MLB expensive balls. (we just had the cheap little league balls from Sports Authority).
2. Use ballpoint pen. (we used Sharpie pens, which smudge and will fade over time).
3. If you use Sharpie, get the FINE point one. (We had the thick tip, which is hard for the players to sign with).
FOOD
Overpriced $ 9 for 3 chicken strips and fries gives you an idea of how much things cost. There is a $ 20 ALL YOU CAN EAT Red Hook tent which serves burgers, hot dogs, and has in/​out privileges all game long. If you like to eat, this is a great deal. You can get your popcorn and peanuts inside this tent and bring it back to your seats as well. There were a few food trucks at the entrance of the stadium which served up everything from shave ice to BBQ.
TEAM STORE
I bought a bunch of 2015 Cactus league Spring training shirts from the store ($ 22). They sold a $ 50 blanket too, to sit on the grass. They also have items specific to the the Padres and Mariners teams, in kids, women’s and men’s sizes and styles so between the food, the bar, and the team store, you will be broke by the time you leave this stadium.
My son ended up going home with a bunch of autographed baseballs, a used batting glove from one of the MLB players, and memories that will hopefully last a long time. PRICELESS.

«First Time Visit ! We Will Definitely Come Back»
My wife and I visited the Peoria Sports Complex for 5 days in March to watch the San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners play spring training baseball games. We found the sports complex to be very nice. The parking attendants were so nice and very organized every day as they directed you to a parking spot. The facilities are so clean and organized. The layout and variety of the food and concessions venues is done very well. The seating under the shade area behind home plate is nice and soft, and the employees in the Ball Park are all so friendly. The grass in the outfield behind the fence is so manicured, and the baseball field itself, is mowed and maintained to perfection. A great place to visit and watch a pro baseball game.

What a fantastic park. Everyone here was very helpful and enthusiastic. From the parking attendant to the police officers. We were greeted with a smile. More importantly, the players were fantastic in the warm up areas. From the Single «A» players to the pros, they all interacted with my 12 year old baseball fanatic son. They did wind sprints with him and asked questions to make him feel important. This is an organization that understands kids are important to the game and truly are their biggest fans. Hats off to the Padres and the City of Peoria, GREAT JOB!!!
By the way, I have been an Angels fan since I was a kid. After visiting Tempe, I no longer am! Stay away from Tempe, the City and Angels are arrogant.

Sadly the thrill is gone from the Spring Training home of the Padres. Food choices have been slashed to a meaningless few. The Team Store merchandise had no creativity. All of the other venues provided something unique. Not here. We’ve been going to Peoria for 13 years. This was a simply boring experience. The team had better have some input with the peopke who run this place. Some of us love Arizona in March for the baseball. But please don’t take us for granted

I love Spring Training. Nothing beats getting a jump on the season by making the pilgrimage to catch some Cactus League games. It’s baseball distilled to its most pure form. I love it, not to mention the player access is fantastic. I got to watch King Felix pitch from right behind home plate. Awesome.
As for the stadium, I got some cheapie lawn tickets then just walked around the complex. Only bummer is you can’t see the game from the concourse behind the infield/​homeplate since that area is inside. Wish it was an open concept.

My buddies from Vegas came out for some Spring Training action. We hit up 2 games here on a Thursday and Friday. The stadium is super easy to get to (Right off Bell and 83^rd) and the prices for tickets seemed pretty fair. We got lawn seats each day ($ 5.00 in advance, $ 7.00 day of game) and had a fun time walking around the stadium. We posted up on the blue picnic benches out behind right field. Gave us a chance to sit down and relax for a bit. Prices for concessions are average… aka…pricey! Parking is normally $ 5.00, but both times we went, there was no attendant there so we parked for free. We also did show up after the game had officially started too… maybe an insider tip? lol. Anyways… overall it was an older but nice stadium. Workers were friendly and the price of tickets was definitely reasonable. I know I will be back sometime soon! Still have to show some love to my old home town of San Diego. Go Padres (Only when they aren’t playing my Cardinals)!

Had such a great experience! It was clean and looked beautiful. The grass is very green and the had a good time watching the Padres. The location is really cool because it is surrounded by many stores like target, Ross, Pf changs Hooters etc

Peoria Sports Complex is a great place to catch a spring training game. Of all the spring training venues in Arizona it might be the biggest with the most space and parking. Because the stadium seating is a little taller you get a little more shade, which I think is important.
The staff is friendly and can answer any question you have. The food seems to be over prices even in comparison to other spring training venues. I know to expect that food and drinks will be expensive, but it’s almost ridiculous.
Over all this is a good place to bring the family and friends on a warm sunny spring day. It’s kid friendly and I had an overall good experience there.

Just a great little ballpark. I remember when this place was new. There was nothing, I mean NOTHING nearby. Had to drive for miles on Bell to find a restaurant. Now it hard to find the ballpark ehind all the restaurants and hotels Great food options, great beer choices and very well laid out. Great access to the players and an awesome lawn section making it great for families.

For those of us in the West Valley, this is a terrific ballpark! Right in the hub of Arrowhead, right off Bell and surrounded by excellent restaurants. The complex is 20 years old and apparently they recently signed new 20 year agreements with the Mariners and Padres, the home teams for this facility.
The park is not as «historical» as Giants stadium in Scottsdale or as fancy as the Dbacks new facility at Talking Stick. It is however, a very good, well cared for ballpark. We went the next to the last weekend of Spring training and the outfield lawn was still in great shape, beautiful green and manicured for those looking to track down a home run ball or crash on a blanket under the warm (not hot) Arizona sun. It is after all only late March.
You’re allowed to take in unopened water bottles and some food, check out their website for exact information. They have a nice selection of hot dogs, BBQ, gyros, ice cream, etc. Nothing gourmet but still tasty.
Spring training is a great way to see MLB players up close for a fraction of the cost of going to a regular season game, and this is a great park to do it in!

This spring-​training stadium is the host of the Seattle mariners and the San Diego Padres. While it is a little far to get to from the valley it is a great venue with lots of spacious cheap lawn seats (8 bucks) buy the cheapest ticket and sit anywhere in the stadium you want. Sit in right field if you want to catch lots of homerun balls. The stadium has the best opportunity to get autographs from players leaving the field… Lots of close interaction with the best players.

This was my 3^rd Spring Training ballpark visit, and I think this ballpark is great. Although a pretty long drive (25 miles) in traffic from Phoenix, but it’s totally worth the experience. Home to the Padres and Mariners, this ballpark is a little older than some, but has such a great small town charm. The food options have the traditional hot dog concessions, but what makes this place are the food tents surrounding the stadium which are like things you see at a county fair. They have gourmet pizzas hand-​stretched, and BBQ (pork. brisket, chicken), Terriyaki Bowls, Chicago Style Hot Dogs and Italian Beef, Wrap place, Fish Tacos and Burritos, Kettle Corn, Hawaiian Shaved Ice, and some sort of breaded pork sandwich stand. They have a Red Hook tent that serves Red Hook on draft, and another that serves Four Peaks brewing along with other macro brews.
Views are great as you walk around the ballpark including some lawn seats in the outfield where I saw several kids enjoying running around by the fences.
Beware of foul balls… you are super close to the game and the balls were flying when I was there, but as long as you are alert, you should be okay.
