Pleasantly surprised as I’ve been warned by bf before going. There was a small indoor holiday market when we went and everyone looks happy & friendly. After paying for the ticket at the door, we dropped it off at the buffet table and worked our way through. There were excellent finger-licking-good ribs, ok sausages, delicious sauerkraut, super sweet red cabbage, steamed potatoes, mashed potatoes, bread, salad etc etc(no of course I didn’t try everything! It was so much food!). Live music was a nice touch too. Loved the dark beer I had but of course I don’t remember what it’s called… oh well, I’ll be back!

My boyfriend and I tried this place out on a Friday when it is open to the public. The people here couldn’t be any nicer or more welcoming. The food was great, great serving on dishes and the soup offered was awesome. The beer prices were very affordable and the live music was fantastic. We will be back… best German food in Peoria! Thanks for making it available to non members to experience!

This place isn’t really a restaurant. The German-American Central Society runs this dinner. It is only on Fridays, and dinner is served from 5 – 8. The bar is open until midnight. You pay for a ticket(cash or check), take it up to the window, and can choose from a selection of two entrees and a few sides. Usually one of those is a schnitzel. There’s water, or you can get a German beer or wine from the bar. The food had its ups and its downs. Very canned corn and vegetables. Cafeteria-style mashed potatoes. But the chicken schnitzel was as good as any I had in Austria, and the brats were alright also. I wouldn’t come here for the food, though. I’d come for the very friendly crowd who got friendlier the more they drank, and the woman who provided some great atmosphere with her accordion playing. This isn’t someplace that I’d come every Friday for even *more* schnitzel, but it’s definitely a fun place to try once.
