Specialties

We are known for home made cooking. We serve family style. Fried chicken, Swiss Steak, Ham, Roat beef and Fried fish. We also serve individual plate dinners.

History

Established in 1952.

Mr. and Mrs Claus Heuermann had original farm house and farm since early 1900’s.

The original farm house remains the center of the restaurant.

Ther are seven rooms with seating capacity of 300. There are rooms for both small and large groups.

The décor is rustic with sprinkling of antiques. Over 250 plates collected from the local area and around the world cover the knotty pine walls. The atmosphere is relaxed and the service impeccable. All the food is made frech from the salad dressing to real mashed potatoes and homemade gravy.

The third generation continues the tradition of excellent home cooked food and fine service.

If you are looking for grandmas comfort food, you found the place! Located in a residential area, unless you knew about this place, you would not know is back there. Separate rooms with long family style tables, lace curtains with antique décor is what you find at Fairview farms.
A very delicious fried chicken is what they are known for. Oh yes! And to die for hush puppies! Family style orders, all you can eat includes mash/​gravy, coleslaw, green beans, salad and your chicken. You can also order burger, salads, sandwiches. No beer or wine, but you can bring your own (now that’s different!)

Our family was shocked to find out that their amazing Swiss Steak has been removed from their Family Style menu! Unfortunately when we inquired about the change, the owner gave us a lengthy overview of her financial woes to buy the ingredients followed by how much time it takes to make the dish. It was embarrassing because we specifically came to have the Swiss Steak & the chicken served Family Style! We were able to order the Swiss Steak ala carte at $ 13.50 for 2 pieces & $ 3.00 a piece it you want more. (The menu has not been changed to reflect the change in menu so the waitress had to go ask the owner for pricing… it’s confusing) The food was wonderful as usual. Just thought it’d be better to continue the Swiss Steak Family Style offering at a higher price & skip the lengthy explanation. We probably won’t be going back.

In town last week visiting family and friends, we were taken here for dinner and there are not enough stars for this place. Incredible comfort food with the best fried chicken you can find. Corn fritters that are out of this world as well. Simple and relaxing setting and exceptional service.

We used to love this place even with the outdated décor. It appears they are not even trying anymore. Super salty dry roast beef and Swiss steak. The chicken and fritters are still good. But for $ 40 for 2 meals there are so many better places in this town. Senior customers love it but maybe it’s just memories of this restaurant’s prior glory.

Wonderful place for a family dinner. Food is great, all very homey feeling. Wait staff is wonderful. Décor make the place look like a nice old Victorian home. Always leave feeling like I just had a great home cooked meal at grandma s house

If you’re into home-​style comfort food, give Fairview Farms a try. They have both family style and individual plate dinners. Most of our party got the fried chicken, and that seems to be their specialty.
I got the grilled chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans. The grilled chicken was a little bland, but alright. The mashed potatoes and gravy were amazing. My husband got the salmon and said it was alright. If we went back again, I would definitely get the fried chicken instead. The corn fritters that come at the end of the meal are excellent. I had never had one before and they taste like funnel cake.
It’s definitely an older crowd here and the décor is like an old farmhouse. I wouldn’t necessarily come here on a romantic date but it’s good for families. I recommend making a reservation, as they can get pretty crowded.

I grew up with this place, living on the next street over. This is the epitome of family style. It’s a bit drab inside (reminds me of a funeral parlor), but the food is very good and plentiful. It’s not the best food you’ve ever had, but it’s definitely delicious (get extra corn fritters!) and very much comfort food. You can’t argue with unlimited chicken, mashed potatoes, corn fritters, slaw, rolls, etc for the price. I live in Chicago now but I try to go here at least once a year if possible when I visit family.

This is family style dining. What does that mean, you ask? It means they bring big bowls of food to your table kind of like you are at home.
Fairview Farms is located in an old farmhouse and it literally feels like you are at someone’s house when you eat there. The food is not a bad price and their fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls, corn fritters, and coleslaw are scrumptious!
One word on the coleslaw-DON’T eat the whole bowl. I did this (don’t ask me why) and went to bed by 8pm that night. It was far too much food. Know thy limits is my new mantra.
Fun place to try at least once if you’ve never had family style dining.
