Cowtown is a semi-​private outdoor shooting range and firearms training facility. We offer handgun, carbine and pistol bays as well as long range Precision Rifle and High Caliber shooting platforms over natural terrain, at reactive steel targets out to 1000 yards. We offer a series of Firearms courses and tactical training for all levels of experiences from beginner to advanced.

Additionally Cowtown Range offers a variety of shooting packages and one-​on-​one tutorials for first-​time and international shooters looking to feel the thrill of shooting full-​auto machine guns and .50 Caliber Sniper Rifles with professional instructors. We are the only range in Arizona that can offer a selection of exploding targets including zombies, melons and exploding aerial drones in a fun and safe shooting environment.

Our property also has a paintball park and is excellent for team-​building activities, corporate challenges, product launches, birthdays and bachelor and bachelorette parties looking for a fun and challenging outing. Reservations are Required and must be booked online at Cow​town​Range​.com drive-​up traffic is not permitted.

History

Established in 1973.

In 1973 stuntman Ron Nix built Cowtown as a movie studio, entertainment venue and shooting facility. over the years more that 200 movies, mostly Western, were filmed on the property. In 1994 Cowtown was purchased and evolved into a GSA approved Federal Shooting Facility where America’s Elite Snipers and Tactical Operators come to train.

Today the range is semi-​private for people to enjoy a variety of shooting bays, ranges firearms classes and tactical training. Cowtown Range also offers people a fun and safe environment to shoot all-​inclusive packages with professional instructors. Packages include an assortment of firearms including full-​auto machine guns, .50 Caliber sniper rifles and exploding targets like aerial drones and zombies! With paintball park on the property it’s one of the only shooting ranges in the world where so many varieties of firearms, targets, environments and entertainment can be experienced. Online reservations are required to access the property.

My friends and I totally loved this place, and still talk about it. We’ve only been there once, and will be back again. We used one of the long-​range platforms to shoot my new .50 BMG. This is the only range in the area that welcomed and supports this caliber. The platform is atop a small hill, allowing you to shoot throughout a small canyon into the hills. There are steel targets spread out on the hill from about 100 yards to 1000 yards. Some are in the open and some are slightly obscured by brush. You get a lot of options for what you want to shoot.
The platform itself is huge, with a small counter all the way around to set your stuff on, and a big artificial grass mat to shoot prone. (And it’s not crappy thin stuff, it was a thick, comfortable, realistic grass.)
We were on our own for shooting, with no distractions or «cold periods» to let shooters go on the range. The price is not cheap, but worth it for the amenities and lack of crowds you normally see at public ranges.

I had an outstanding experience shooting both a POF AR15 and a Barrett 50cal on the Cowtown Range. The venue is spectacular and the Staff were alot of fun, professional and knowledgeable. Can’t wait to come back and I have already told all of my family and friends about it.

We booked a training for the whole family over the Christmas break. This outdoor range is beautiful! We had our own bay with a nice relaxed safe atmosphere. The instructors took time for personalized instruction with everyone. If you looking for something different weather your a avid shooter or just wanting to learn give Cowtown a try. I don’t know of any place like this, a private outdoor range, personalized training, and pricing for any budget. We will be back!

Went on line and booked a .50 caliber shooting experience. Was awesome, shot a 1000 yards with little instruction. Well worth the money to experience that, and checked it off my bucket list. When we were there, people were shooting and blowing up Zombies. We will be back to shoot exploding Zombies. Awesome place.
