Was super impressed by the meat selection. And I’m excited to get our own meat bundle. Had lunch off the grill and I was super impressed with their prices. My husband and I ate for $ 10. We both got pulled pork with yummy homemade pickles and BBQ sauce. It was yum. I got a pasta salad and my husband had chips. Overall we’d go back for sure!

I cant think of a negative thing to say about Alwan & Sons Meat Company. Every product I have purchased at Alwans, from fresh meats, to frozen packaged foods, to deli items, etc have all been absolute quality. The employees are always friendly and helpful, even when they are slammed with business. I have heard friends state they cant afford Alwans prices, and I always challenge them to compare prices first, THEN compare quality. I haven’t even mentioned the sidewalk grill during the summer. Its a great way to have a nice fresh lunch!

Their steaks have ruined me for eating any lesser meats. Simply the best cuts around.

Ribs, Steaks, Chops, Chicken, they’ve got it all. Lots of choices for any price range. You can get regular cuts or high end cuts. LOVE the staff, they are so helpful and friendly. Buy the«Jorgie’s» meat rub… put it on a Ribeye or Fillet. It is amazing. Lots of hustle and bustle in there because so many people love Alwan and Sons. They stock all the side dishes, condiments, chips, sauced, marinades… you can get everything you need for a great cookout.

We wait for café to open each spring with their homemade brats, that have no MSG, fillers, or nitrites. This family knows how to run a butcher shop with friendly knowledgeable staff and surprisingly low prices. I figured it would be more, but they were less on the best luncheon meat I ever had and again no artificial anything. I go there now for most our meat. Hard to find items, specially Rosens hotdog buns with poppy seeds and Turanos bread.

I had high hopes, thought it was going to be a great butcher shop. It seemed to me to be focused on quantity, not quality. I’ll try it again.

The prices are reasonable and the meat is always good, not to mention they have a good selection of it. The people are also very friendly and helpful, they also have summer grilling and the menu is pretty nice. I usually come here to get some steaks or meet Friends for lunch and every time i come I’m pretty satisfied. Its pretty busy during lunch time the lines can be long so come early.

I currently live in St. Louis, grew up in the Heights. My mom has been coming to Alwans since I was little and I am now 27 driving up from Stl to visit and always come in and stock up for the return home. The prices are reasonable and the meat is always good. The people are also very friendly and helpful. The first time my mom sent me by myself to get steaks I picked up some broiling steaks instead of sirloins and my couldn’t figure out why they were so tough so we took one in and complained and they explained that I hadn’t bought a grilling steak(oops!!) and showed me which ones to buy and even gave me a free sirloin to take. Have never tried the bbq outside but it looks pretty good when I see it.

Great place. Ended up here for lunch one day and happened into to store. I was really impressed with the tremendous offerings inside; I was not expecting a whole lot being in Peoria, and they definitely delivered. Very friendly staff and quite knowledgeable. The summer grilling menu is pretty nice. I got a spicy link and hotdog and was pleasantly surprised. They definitely will be a frequent lunch stop this summer.

The meat itself is pretty pricey, but worth the money. The one thing I love about this place though, is that during the summer they have a grill outside and sell sandwiches for $ 5. Porkchop or sirloin and they are fabulous. It goes from April-September 11am-1pm. It’s a short window of time but totally worth it for an excellent lunch. You can smell the delicious aroma’s all down War Memorial. They just opened it up for the season and I know I’ll be stopping in Saturday to get some.

After you go to Aldi to pick up your staples, cross the street for all of your meat needs. They have a wide selection of sliced meats and cheeses in their deli section and a giant meat section to house their pork, beef, and chicken cuts. The store is clean, the people are nice, and the prices are right. For a traditional butcher experience head to Alwan and Son’s Meat Company.

Alwans and Sons Meat Company is the only place I will shop for meat in Peoria. If you have not been to the store, go. It is new, huge, great ethnic products, produce, beers and wine and of course — — an amazing meat case. The grill is open everyday in the summer and they offer affordable sandwiches right off the grill. Alwan’s is a Peoria institution.
