History

Established in 2015.

We founded the Ruby Slipper Café in May 2008 as part of effort to positively contribute to the post-Katrina recovery of our New Orleans neighborhood, which sustained severe flood damage.

The original restaurant in Mid-City NOLA was an overnight hit! We have worked to build 4 unique neighborhood cafes in New Orleans, and in July 2015 opened in historic Downtown Pensacola, Florida.

The Ruby Slipper Café specializes in breakfast & brunch all day everyday! We are a scratch-kitchen, using fresh ingredients available from local purveyors. Our coffee and espresso are locally-roasted fair trade selections. We also offer great «brunch» drinks such as Mimosas, Bloody Mary’s, Brandy Milk Punch, Irish Coffee and seasonal specialty drinks, along with beer, wine and sparkling wine.

Some of our house specialties include Eggs Blackstone, Eggs Cochon, BBQ Shrimp & Grits, and Bananas Foster French Toast.

Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner

My husband and I are both engineers (a non-traditional background for restaurateurs!). We founded The Ruby Slipper Café in May 2008 as part of our post-Katrina effort to positively contribute to the revitalization of our Mid-City neighborhood, which sustained severe flood damage.

We have three elementary school-aged children, and are active in the communities where we work and live.
