I never got to taste Barrington wine. I went in there to buy a Riesling, and I asked if I could have a taste of that wine first. I was told that I would need to pay $ 5 to have that one taste! I have never had that happen to me in the dozens of Seneca and Keuka wineries. Needless to say, I bought nothing and won’t go back. What were they thinking!

We’ve been to Barrington a few times, for tastings as well as on Wine Trail events. The wines here are different than most of the more popular spots on the lake. Some of the native grape offerings such as ice-type wines made from Isabella, aren’t found too many other places. The location has a great view and space to hang out and enjoy wines. I’m not compelled to visit or drawn by any single wine, but as long as Barrington keeps making wines, I’ll keep trying them out.

Barrington Cellars had Peach wine and Pear wine, I bought a half-case of each, enough said.

Personally I liked their Del-A-Cat white and Diamond. Winery staffs are friendly and very knowledgeable about wines.

Our wine hostess was so sweet when we rolled in five minutes before closing! We just wanted a quick tasting to buy a few bottles of wine for the evening and she was very nice about it. Stunning view of Keuka on the east side of the lake. Wide patio for sipping a purchase(if you have time!!) and the bottles were SUPER reasonably priced! Love you Barrington!

Barrington Cellars has more sweet and semi-sweets than other wineries we stopped by, but their spot high on the bluff(complete with a small deck to savor the view of Keuka Lake), their good prices, and their small but tasty dry offerings still earn the spot four stars. This is the spot where I experienced something called«Baco Noir.» Absolutely dry(0% residual sugar), but certainly unusual tasting and nothing like pinot noir. My favorite wine on their list was their Cab Sauv, and as luck would have it, it’s one of their more expensive bottles($ 18.95, which is still below average in price compared to Northern VA wineries). If you prefer semi sweets and sweeter wines, this place will have your name on it. It’s away from the main road so rarely gets busy. People are extremely friendly, but I wouldn’t want to take that road leading up the bluff in the winter…

This place is easy to drive right by, but I’m glad we didn’t miss it. Barrington definitely doesn’t have the same asthetic appeal like other wineries in the area, but they do have wines worth tasting. My personal favorites were the Concord and Raptor’s Red. Wines here were much cheaper than any other place we stopped in as well.
