I had a hairdresser named Sam she helped me get my eyebrows waxed and got a great haircut for prom. I was excited to get it done cause I heard great reviews from the place so I had to make my own. The inside looks fantastic like no other place I been. ¹⁰⁄₁₀ would go again.

I have been seeing Danielle A. for years for getting everything «hair» related done. I knew her back when she was at Salon Serode! She is the absolute best! I have gotten hair cuts, color, blow dry, she’s done my hair for weddings, proms, and special event in my life over the years. Almost 12 years I have gone to see her. When I used to swim all the time she would give me the deep conditioning treatment and that felt wonderful! With everything I have to put in these curly locks everyday, my hair gets gross and the deep conditioning treatment definitely helps! Also when Danielle is busy (which she always is, because she’s so good!), Sam M. is also really good. She had to wash and dry me a couple of times when Danielle was busy. Overall, Personal Best is the place to go for all things «hair»!

I’m new to the area and visited personal best today to have my three year old son’s hair trimmed before school. The interior and décor I must say is lovely. Great space and very inviting. Front desk was attentive and pleasant. On to the hair cut. We met with Jen I believe, and were brought upstairs. She asked what I would like to have done length wise etc. I explained to just clean it up and make it look more uniform (crazy cowlicks and hairline!) mind you I also was toting my infant along. She cut a tiny tiny bit, never brushed the hair or even attempted to off of his neck, and stiffed me with a bill of $ 25! $ 25?! Are these people crazy? For a kids «cut»? Ridiculous, absolutely ridiculous. Not to mention when his hair finally Dried and I could properly survey the job, she COMPLETELY missed the sides of his hair. It looks terrible and I now am taking him to a local salon tomorrow to get it fixed before school starts. Worst $ 25 ever spent. Two pieces of advice I would offer to this salon management: dear lord lower those ABSURD prices. And please hire more experienced stylists. Will definitely not be retuning.

I had been trying to get information on wedding hair and makeup here, but after calling twice and leaving my name/​information with whoever answered the phone, I never received a call back. They won’t be getting my business!

I hate to write a bad review after everyone seems to love it here, but my personal experience wasn’t very good. My friend and I came here for the first time for a spa day. We both got The Great Escape which we thought was pretty cheaply priced. Well that’s what we got, a cheap experience. Now, I should note that everyone was very nice. That was great, but here’s what my experience was.
It started off with a body scrub followed by a 30 minute massage. The woman was very friendly and talkative, but smelled of cigarettes. Not a pleasant smell when you’re coming to relax for a day. She showed me around then brought me into a little room where the table was pushed up against the wall (otherwise you couldn’t get by it) and had a shelf over half of it. My masseuse then covered the table (which had sheets and everything) with a tin foil blanket. This is what I was to lay on while getting my body scrub. So not only was I laying on a tin foil blanket instead of on nice, comfortable sheets, and on a table that my masseuse could only get on one side of with a shelf over half my body, but she also never had me turn over. Instead, I had to sit up so she could do my back and lift my legs so she could do underneath them. Then I had what was supposed to be a Swiss shower, but was simply a shower with one shower head (my friend, however, did get a Swiss shower). Then I had to put on my robe and move to the massage room. There I had a rushed experience that involved her ACTUALLY doing «the chop» method followed by her lightly running her fingertips over me. Let’s just say, I wasn’t very relaxed after that, but happy to move on.
Next came my facial. Cheryl was very nice and seemed to know what she was doing. I did think it odd that she would come in and out without knocking. It was quite startling.
Then came my hair wash and blow dry. The girl was very nice (I can not remember her name) and even put waves in my hair since it was a bit flat after drying. So it was nice that she put in the extra effort, but the whole area was dirty. Dust and hair everywhere and none of the hair removed from the hairbrushes. I really didn’t like having my hair brushed with a brush that had multiple people’s hair in it.
Overall, a cheap experience and not one I would want to experience again.

I have been seeing Cheryl H for years and this review is LONG overdue! Cheryl is a master at skin care. She only uses the best products. A long time favorite service of mine with Cheryl is the microdermabrasion. I have also done several other facials, all which I have been very satisfied with. Cheryl makes you feel at home and the service is never rushed like some other salons. Her recommendations for home care have also helped me with some of my skin blemishes. I learned that she will be soon offering the ultrasonic facial and I am SO excited to try this next month. Cheryl is hands down, the best skin care professional I have ever been to!

I’ve been going to see Cheryl for a Brazilian wax now for 2 months and she really knows what she’s doing! The price is fair and she makes you feel really comfortable. The front desk staff could be a little less catty and standoffish but other than that I’d recommend the waxing services to anyone in the Pembroke area.

I’ve been coming to PB for a few years now for hair cuts. I see either Emmy or Annie but honestly prefer Emmys cuts as they’re exactly what you ask her for. Prices are a bit steep, especially for just a cut as I don’t get my hair colored at all. I only come in every few months so I don’t mind paying for a good hair cut but if you’re looking for cheap, this isn’t the place for you.
I get my eye brows waxed here when I get my hair done. The three different waxers I’ve seen are all good but my fav is Amanda. She shapes the brows the best, at least for me. The price for a brow wax I think is $ 15, maybe a couple bucks more and that’s pretty insane. Most places will do brows for $ 7 – 8.
I had my wedding hair and make up done here and also the bridesmaids up dos and everyone looked awesome. I will say though I’m not a fan of the make up artist as she’s not friendly and pretty full of herself.
People at the front desk are decent but can be a little flakey at times and not friendly, especially Lynn.
Update, June 2016: I no longer come here for hair cuts as I found someone much closer to my home that does an amazing job. I occasionally will come to PB still for an eyebrow wax. I like Cheryl but Lori does a better job at shaping, although she makes comments if your skin isn’t flawless so I never feel comfortable to book with her unless I’m desperate so I usually go with Cheryl or Katie.

Emmy is wonderful! I’ve been coming to Emmy for a while because she really listens and her knowledge of hair is incredible. You can tell that she cares not only for her work, but for her clients. Even though we are moving out of state so I won’t be able to keep up the relationship, she did her very best work yet in my last visit! I went in yesterday for a cut and decided to take a chance on a completely different hairstyle. Emmy knew just what would look good with my face! I love the cut — friends tell me it’s taken years off me!
I’m going to miss Emmy and want to know if she moves to California!

I am very picky about who does my hair. I finally found Lynn and will not go to anyone else. She is amazing! I went to another hairstylist when Lynn was on vacation and I was not pleased with the results. I now know to wait for her, even if my roots are a little long :)
I have also gotten a facial here and it was very nice, very relaxing.

This is two reviews in one… great stylist and awesome wedding hair!
As for my haircut… It is always hard to leave a good stylist, especially when all I want is someone to give my thick, wavy hair a style that I just have to wash and brush; blowdrying and product is soooo not my thing.
Anyhow, I moved from Boston to Pembroke and thank goodness, due to Unilocal,I found Jen. She is awesome! She gave me exactly what I love… low maintenance hair. After the first haircut she even told me I could come back if I wasn’t too sure about it but it was perfect.
As for the wedding hair… my sister and I needed to get our hair styled for my wedding. Jen wasn’t available so we ended up with Sue and Maureen.
Maureen was great with my sister’s low side ponytail. She even completely redid it when my sister realized she wanted it on the other side.
As for me, I wanted a messy, updo thing and Sue knew exactly what I was asking for. My biggest concern was my thick hair staying up with only bobby pins… she bobby pinned that thing to death and it stayed up from noon until 1:00 in the morning… it only fell down when I decided some late night jump roping was in order!
Anyhow, talented stylists work here so check it out!

I recently got married in Hanson, MA and since I’m not from around there and hadn’t even been to any salons there before, I had to put a lot of faith into Personal Best for not only my wedding day hair, but also my makeup and the hair and makeup for my 5 bridesmaids and my mom! As I was running a little behind in my wedding planning schedule, I needed to find a good reliable place fast to make all of the appointments. I was in town one day, doing some other wedding related planning and happened to drive by Personal Best and noticed the unique building. I quickly jotted the name down on my phone and looked them up & called them the following day.
Jessica Goldman is amazing! She helped me book all the appointments, including the trial hair and makeup for me and my mom, and always responded to any questioned right away! Since we had a bigger group of people, the various appointments were staggered, and we had a couple of friends (2 male bridesmaids and a flower girl) that wanted to join us on the morning of the wedding, Jessica told us that we were welcome to a space upstairs to use as a home-​base. She provided us with coffee, juice, MIMOSAS! and had also run out/​set up an order of bagels, cream cheese, and homemade donuts (amazing) for us from a local café. This made the whole experience completely relaxing and fun!
As for the hair and makeup, well, I can’t say enough good things about our experience. My hair was done by Sue and makeup by Tamra. Christina also helped out with the beautiful waterfall braid that I had in my hair. Some of the other great stylists that worked with my bridesmaids and my mom were: Annie, Maureen, Lynn, and Amanda (who did my flower girl’s nails).
Sue is very sweet and very considerate. She made me feel so comfortable and confident that my hair would look just the way I wanted and it did! She is very skilled and really listened to me. I’m usually very picky about my hair and told Jessica in the beginning that I was looking for someone that would be able to create a sort of boho or ethereal look and she was right in picking Sue for that! If I lived in the area, you can bet that I’d make Sue my regular stylist. :)
Tamra is equally as great! I’ve always had pretty troublesome skin but she somehow made it look flawless. I wish that she could apply my makeup every morning! Honestly, I have always hated photos of myself and somehow I believe that Tamra’s skilled metamorphosed me into being a very photogenic bride!
All of the other ladies did an amazing job as well. All of my bridesmaids looked absolutely fabulous, no exaggeration.
We had such a great morning at Personal Best. Such an amazing memory to add to my wedding day. Thank you all so much!

I go weekly to see Cheryl for a waxing (yes, you can call me high maintenance… I’m sure she will as well.). She is the best I’ve ever had, and will continue to see her ’til I move far, far away.
I have been seeing the same stylist [Paula] since I was in high school. My hair has been every length, every color and been through the ringer. Anytime Paula needed a model, I was always at her beckon call! I love her and highly recommend her to anyone. She keeps up with the latest trends, styles and techniques.
Also, I go see Catie for nails. She’s the best! It took me a long while to find someone here who was worth raving about! Also, she is a massage therapist. She gave me an incredible deep tissue massage.

Being from Pembroke, I have known about Personal Best for quite some time. Just recently I’ve decided to give it a try, I have been dying to experience a facial so, I booked an appointment this past Friday. I walked in through the main entrance, and proceeded to the front desk where the receptionist just stared at me. I was kind of worried at that point, she asked me my name and proceeded to crunch on the ice from her iced coffee. I had arrived about 15 min early and I was getting anxious if this place was a good choice. As I was observing the salon I noticed a lot of foot traffic, which eased my worry. I was then greeted by Amanda, who would be performing my facial, very nice girl loved her! She did an awesome job, talking me through the whole process and gave a great massage along with my facial. If it wasn’t for the crab at the front desk at my arrival I probably would have given this place 5 stars. When I checked out there was a shift change at the front desk so I was helped by a much nicer woman. I was just unsettled by the bad customer service I received upon arriving, if that’s the first thing you experience it leaves a bad feeling. Thankfully, my spa service was awesome and perhaps I will return!

I am one brave girl. Actually, some might see it as crazy, but I like to stick with brave. :0)
I had been hemming and hawing over whether to get my hair cut before my wedding. I had end up running out of time in the days prior, so on the actual day of my wedding *I know, hear me out*, I called up Personal Best *which I pass frequently on Rt. 53 in Pembroke*, and made an appointment for same day with Jen, who was *Thank GOD!* available.
The wedding gods must have really been on my side that day, as I had the BEST hair experience of my life. Here’s how it went:
1. The salon called me about an hour prior to my appointment to say that Jen was running late with another client’s services, so would I mind coming in a half hour later than my scheduled appt. time, so I wouldn’t actually have to just sit there and wait? It worked out perfectly, got all my makeup done before I went in, and didn’t have to sit there and twiddle my thumbs waiting. Very considerate of them. Nice.
2. Jen was FABULOUS. Very patient, looked at the picture I had brought with me, suggested a bit of a different style for me to suit my hair concerns *I have really long, naturally curly hair that tends to lay flat on top, have had issues with layers before– too poofy– but needed more body definitely.* and got to it right away. Told me not to worry when she started lopping off hair left and right, and when she was finished, it fell beautifully, layers of curls and no poofiness anywhere.
3. She also made time to style it for my wedding, without it being that weird, tight, «wedding hair». It looked so lovely after she blew it out, and used a big curling iron to make these long, loose waves. It looked perfectly «styled» without being in a tightly-​curled headache-​inducing updo. I totally loved it. And I almost never love my hair.
4. Jen totally understood I was in a major time crunch, and did all of that *including a shampoo* in an hour. She never appeared rushed, was very pleasant, and kept me calm and panic-​free. She was just awesome, and I’m psyched I found a new permanent stylist for future visits!
Lovely salon, everyone was very kind and professional, and I left so happy. Sorry for the lengthy review, but I wanted brides to know about this wonderful salon! (As other reviwers have mentioned, this is a spa as well, and they offer a variety of services from cuts/​color/​special occasion styles, to nails, waxing, and I’m fairly sure, massage. Competitive prices, cuts are about $ 40, which is totally reasonable.)

I’ve been going here for years now, since my previous stylist (who used to own her own salon) moved into this practice.
I see Karen for hair (she’s a hoot– she does great hair and she’s a total riot!) and Cheryl for skin/​waxing. They do EVERYTHING here– hair, nails, makeup, botox, and every kind of waxing (including brazilian.)
It’s a great place to go if you live/​work near Pembroke. Otherwise, it’s definitely a hike.
