History

Established in 1989.

The company was originally founded in 1989 as Native Herbs and Natural Foods, it was bought in 2005 by Nell Cummings who renamed the store to Health Mart at Pembroke. Since then the store has been in the process of incorporation with another name change to Natural Choices LLC.

Business Owner

As a 1972 graduate of Pembroke State University, Nell earned a B.S. Degree in Sociology and an A.A. in Nursing. After college, Nell began working in the Social Services field, where she remained until choosing to enter the medical profession as an R.N. After 14 years working as a critical care nurse at Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville; where for the last two years she served the Cardiac Program. Nell chose to enter the private sector in 2004. A working philosophy that Nell has maintained is strict adherence to customer service and education. «In her words, an educated customer is one who has been provided with the knowledge to make healthy choices, thus taking responsibility for their own health.»
