Pines West Academy serves children from one to five years of age. PWA provides quality education carefully crafted by our staff based on the developmentally appropriate guidelines of international standards for young children such as the ones given by the British and Western Australia Departments of Education.

PWA creates a challenging and enriching environment for learning where traditional and contemporary styles of teaching are carefully integrated. Every child will be provided with experiences of success and self esteem which are essential in the physical, social, emotional and cognitive development of young children. First Steps International Academy promotes a caring and loving, nurturing and challenging multicultural environment for learning. PWA promotes fulfillment of each person’s potential by identifying individuals’ needs and targets; while striving for excellence.

History

Established in 2001.

Pines West Academy is committed to creating a community of learners on an individualized basis by using the best tools, technology, and methodologies available to not only create critical thinking skills, but build strong habits of mind in the process. We have fostered this development by establishing a warm and nurturing environment for your child to grow and learn the skills necessary in school and throughout their life!

Meet the Manager

Manager

My name is Teri Sousa and I have been the Director of Pines West Academy for ten years.

I am very proud of the school I work for and our wonderful Education First Curriculum which was inspired and based on the best known practices in the world. We have a well balance of academics but what makes us unique is our use of Thinking Routines, Thinking Keys and Making Children’s Thinking Visible.

In order for children to succeed as life long learners they need to be provided experiences that give them opportunities to wonder, ask questions, inquire and make connections. It is our passion to teach for understanding and I have a well educated, loving, nurturing team of teachers to put it into action.

I hope your child enjoys her/​his time in school at PWA. You are always welcome to bring any issues, comments, or concerns to your teacher or to me. We work hard to make your child’s time in school with us a happy and productive one.
