Maquet’s Rail House

My cousin and I came in for a bite on a Saturday. Seated immediately and ordered water to start so we could see the beer menu. The waitress waited like 1 minute before coming back and asking if we were ready, ordered some beers and said we’d start with fried mushrooms. Again she came back in like 1 minute and asked for our order (the place was dead like 3 tables and people at the bar, but the bar tender handles them). We ordered the chicken ceasar wrap with sweet pot fries and smokehouse wrap add American cheese with pasta salad. The mushrooms came out and 3 mins later, so did our food. Kind of annoying as now the app won’t get eaten. The wraps were dry and the chicken tastes like frozen chicken, super chewy, the mushrooms are massive and far too much breading, the fries appear burnt… the pickle was the best part, No extra cheese I actually couldn’t find the cheese and we didn’t see her for about 15 mins lol. We won’t be back. The food is far too expensive for what you get.

Yumster. Period. I like the place, Pekin needs more locations like this that titillate the senses and offer considerably superior fare than Chili’s. I enjoy the ranging options of beers, there are some considerably unusual options available here. The food is simply outstanding and the service is typically swift. The waiters and waitresses carry iPad minis with a card swipe on the device, so payment is a breeze! I love the horseshoe, it is a fantastic take on the classic Illinois dish. So, go here and enjoy yourself.

Went here for lunch yesterday and had a great experience. It is nice to finally have a good place to eat in Pekin. We ordered the onion rings and cheese curds to share. The onion rings were amazing! They were thin and crispy! The cheese curds were a bit of a disappointment, but I won’t hold t against them. I’ve been living in Wisconsin and I’m use to fresh cheese curds. You could tell these were frozen and pre-​battered.
The cheese burgers are large, juicy, simply phenomenal! The pork tenderloin is bigger than the plates they are served on and are nice and thin! If you want a place to watch the game and have good food look no farther than here!

Was disappointed in the menu, was under the impression it was a restaurant and had more then bar food. Food was expensive

Tried for first time-​reviews are right, their BURGERS are great! Juicy, cooked perfect, great taste — probably the best hamburger I have ever had out at a restaurant! And I just had a build your own burger w Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato and pickle-​Nothing fancy but delicious! Also had a really good, friendly waitress (but do not remember her name). Unfortunately, The fries were not tasty at all, but the cole slaw was great!

I have to say one of the best burgers I have had, cooked perfect, good tasting meat; I got the Juicy Lucy and hubby got mushroom and swiss, we were both pleased with our selection. We also got a large side of haystack onion rings, yummy! Anxious to go back already.

Food was not that great. Service was excellent. Our sandwiches had regular buns that you can buy at the store, the fries were ok. There was confusion when we arrived about if we could seat ourselves.

Love the atmosphere here! They have a great selection of craft beers and have a good selection of draft beers. I have had a few different burgers and they were all great! The Railhouse Burger is my favorite though. The patty melt is also a good choice. Overall a great modern bar to go grab lunch with a friend or to watch the game with your buddies.

Well… this place is pretty. Long barroom and beautiful woodwork throughout. The beer selection is awesome as well as the bar presentation. The missing piece here is the interaction and service. It took us fifteen minutes to get a notice by anyone in the bar. It was 7:15pm.
Even after ordering two beers we had to find a server to alert our assigned staff member that we wanted to order food.
Love the selections and food was okay… but what overshadowed the visit was the lack of care that we were present. And hungry.

We went for a late dinner. When we first sat, they were still kind of busy. Our waitress was quite attentive. We ordered, our food was VERY good and hot. By the time food came, we were one of three tables left. And our never came back after bringing out the food. Our drinks ran dry. She cleared our plates finally and took over 20 mins before we saw her again for our check. The service experience is way I didn’t give Rail House more stars.

Finally a great place in Pekin with awesome beers. Food is also very good. Service is usually top notch. Been waiting for a long time for something like this to come to pekin.

The best bar/​restaurant in Pekin! Support your local, family owned businesses! We always enjoy going here for lunch, dinner or just to get drinks. Their prices are reasonable, they offer outdoor or covered patio seating, and the décor is vintage. If you’ve not been there, you must visit.

Great food, great people, nice place to go for lunch dinner or just stop and let Mike or Josh pour you a cold beer.

We have been to Maquets several times, and only want more! We appreciate the friendly service, cleanliness, selection of beverages and delicious menu.
I only had one minor complaint, which was handled with professional grace. This is our «place» when we go out!

Sorry, but this place is way too expensive for the quality food that you get. The Reuben was just ok, but for $ 8 it didn’t even come with a side and didn’t have a lot of meat on it. Sides were all extra. Burgers were $ 8 and again, no side, all extra. Oh, let me save you $ 5, the corn nuggets suck. Spoiler alert, they’re fried creamed corn. Who the hell eats cream corn let alone fried creamed corn. I’m not too familiar with Pekin, we just happened to be down here for a lacrosse tournament and I trusted the reviews for this place on Unilocal.It seems like the only thing this town had to eat was Chinese buffets and fast food. I was highly disappointed with this place and the reviews everyone left.

Great food and service. I had the cheese curds and nachos. Very big serving of nachos and the curds were tasty. The atmosphere is one to depict the old downtown days of Pekin and the railways that used to go through there. Very unique and well decorated.

Great food, great staff, great feel and great prices! We had lunch here on a Sunday afternoon. The Railhouse has a great feel and while we were eating a train came by tootin his horn!

Bourbon sauce, bourbon sauce, bourbon sauce. Although the intended use is on the bourbon burger, I always like to order a side of it for the onion tangles. And the staff willing obliges. (I don’t think we’ve ever been charged extra for it.)
Great burgers, great beer selection. Although it’s new and staff are still working out their «serving kinks», this place is quickly becoming one of my favorites.

Finally a great pub/​restaurant with a casual and friendly atmosphere in Pekin. The service was terrific, plenty of big screen tvs to watch the game, and the food was good. I’ll be back for sure!

Food is excellent, atmosphere comfortable, beer selection superb. The philly, tenderloin and burgers are on point. Prices are family friendly. A must check out if you are in town.
