After many years in the medical field along with a year and a half as a veterinary assistant, I followed my heart & opened KarensK9Way to care for companion animals.

Business Owner

As an animal rights advocate, Karen believes all animals should be treated with compassion, kindness, love and respect. An animal lover since she was a young girl, she knew from a very young age that she was meant to work with them. After spending years in the health, medical & veterinary world, Karen finally decided it was time to pursue her passion and make her childhood dream a reality. When she is not caring for her clients’ pets, she is avidly researching & studying animal health, nutrition and behavior.

In addition to dedicating her time to care for animals, Karen shares her love of photography with the pets and families she encounters. She has had cats and dogs throughout her life and is currently the proud pet parent of a rescued tuxedo cat Ted and a lovable rescue Boxer/​Lab Mix Sam.

Karen has been my dog walker for a couple of weeks now, and she has been a lifesaver for me and my little shih tzu mix. I commute into the city for work so occasionally have some long days. All I was looking for was someone to help with quick potty breaks in the afternoons, but I got so much more with Karen. She always takes my pup out for 25-​minute walks and sends pictures and texts and videos – it’s the highlight of my day when I can’t actually be there myself. She is so wonderful with animals, 100% reliable, and just exudes positive energy. I couldn’t recommend Karen more!

We had the pleasure of leaving our Husky/​Lab mix with Karen this weekend. I never thought I would ever use the word «pleasure» with leaving our dog anywhere. We found Karen on Unilocal after a couple of Kennels said they weren’t open on Sundays or Presidents’ Day which would mean we’d have to wait until Tuesday to pick up our do. something we did not want to do. So thankful the Kennels were not flexible with their pick-​up times or we might not have found Karen. We’ll only use Karen going forward! She suggested we meet the week before at her house. We brought Leia over and she hit it off right away with Karen’s dog, Sam. Leia had a blast playing with her. We knew instantly it was the right fit. Karen is incredibly knowledgable and super dog savvy. You can tell that this is truly her passion and she loves what she does. We dropped Leia off on Friday night and while we missed her, we did not worry about her as we knew she was having a great time with her new best dog friends! Karen sent us updates, pictures and videos! It was such a relief to get updates on her and be able to see what a great time she was having! I actually think she had more fun than we did! She spent the entire day after we picked her up snoozing on the couch. I highly recommend Karen’s K9 Way to anyone looking for a «paws“itively amazing experience. ;)

It is not an easy task to find someone who can be available, reliable and come to ones home to care for our four legged family member.
Karen suggested we meet first and it was very helpful. Karen came to meet our guy in our home and was a pleasure to meet. She is warm and very dog knowledgeable.
We have never kenneled our dogs and do not plan to so when Karen was recommended for puppy/​dog walking and sitting I was grateful. Karen came on time and sent pictures of our guy when she arrived so we would see how happy he was to be taken out and played with while we were out.
Karen is terrific in communicating when arriving and departing as well.
The next time we are having him picked up and taken to her home for an extended time so he is not left for too long. Karen was immediate in her response and availability. I am thrilled to have met her.

My husband and I just moved to Peekskill, and needed a sitter/​walker for when my husband travels for business. I cannot believe my luck when I found Karen. She is professional, kind and wonderful with my 10 month old puppy. He is so happy to be in her care, he runs up to her house with glee when I drop him off in the morning! Plus, Karen is incredibly helpful and accommodating. When she found out that I need a long day of care for my pup, she suggested another facility that would be cheaper for me (yet still great for my pup), but she would be able to provide pick up service (to/​from that facility). I am happily using Karen this week, and highly recommend her service to anyone.

I only trust Karen with my precious little one!
She’s is the best pet sitter near and far and I love boarding my dog with her. Lucy comes home calm and wanting naps. She never comes home anxious as she has in the past with boarding at the vet or at a big boarding facility.
Karen has a great home with a big backyard where my dog gets to play and nap in the sun — in the warmer months. Karen is also very professional and it’s always a pleasure doing business with her. She even gave me some training tips that have helped Lucy tremendously.
I know she also works at a Vet’s office, so I never have to worry when I am out of town, bc she is in the best of hands!

Karen is a wonderful and trustworthy animal lover. She has cared for our three dogs on many occasions, checking in on them and giving them lots of love. She is always on time and completely reliable.
