I would def recommend this place as a happy hour option. The happy hour menu isn’t skimpy like I thought it would be… This place is a nice little find. Good vibe. I’m not gonna knock the service from my waiter because I see others that are being treated a bit better and from the reviews, looks like others have gotten good service.(But he def is hiding out in the kitchen until our food comes out and is short with his responses). Good quality sushi at a price that you can’t beat out here in Pearland & Houston!

Very friendly service. Terribly dry and over cooked pork katsu. Moderately dry and over cooked salmon teriyaki. Shrimp«dumpling» things are weird, not sure if I like them… Miso soup is really good though.

First time here & if you like RA Sushi… you will absolutely enjoy this place. We ordered Veggie tempura for the appetizer. Eggplant was a little greasy but all in all it was tasty. Entrée: Red Lobster Roll, Vegas Roll & Hibachi Salmon. Everything was awesome. We will definitely be frequenting here for our weekly sushi fix. Highly recommend this place… make sure to dress warm in the winter mos because it cold inside… ENJOY

This is my wife & my favorite Japanese sushi place in the greater Houston area. Been coming to this place from there grand opening day, same owners same hibachi cooks and wait staff.

I’ve recently moved to Pearland about half a year ago. I came across this place while driving down to pearland town center. I went in at the perfect time because it was happy hour! Their sushi is pretty cheap during happy hour as well as their drinks. The only down fall is it is pretty small so there is a big wait time, but it’s worth the wait! If you’re in search of a good sushi spot I would recommend this place.

Great place for families and special occasions. The lunch specials are really reasonable for a good quality meal and are available 7 days. I like the steak hibachi meal but the chicken is tender and flavorful as well.

I enjoy the food here. It’s quick and fairly flavorful. My only complaint is what happened to the sweet potatoes. The new version is horrible and that was the main side I would order. Looking for a new quick bbq spot

A friend and I visited Sakura for the first time on a Wednesday evening to try out their happy hour specials. We were seated by the hostess but never attended to. We waited 20 minutes and no one had taken our drink order. All the waiters walked around us and seemed not to notice we were sitting there with nothing on our table. It wasn’t even busy and the people that arrived after us had already been helped. Needless to say we walked out very annoyed and will not be coming back.

Food is alright, but not worth an hour wait. Been here couple times before, but didn’t get any food this time around… We waited for hibachi tonight was told it would be 10 – 15 minutes little did we know it was 10 – 15 minutes to sit and an hour to see the chef… I just wanted to pay and leave, but the lady insisted to WAIT for the manager… Some other person approached us and asked if we were okay. He explained that they only have three chefs and it’s Friday. I told him we’ve been waiting for an hour and just want to pay and leave. He kept talking about the fact it’s Friday. I’m well aware it’s Friday. I’ve had a long 12 hour days and I did not expect to wait another hour for service. we left after talking to that man… didn’t have any food and didn’t see any managers. Why would a customer care if you only have three chefs? We don’t run restaurants, at least I don’t. I do not know how many chefs it would require you to serve all the tables you have. After waiting an hour, I can guess you probably need more than three chefs. If you know you don’t have enough cooks in the kitchen or chefs, then you shouldn’t open as many tables. It would have also been useful to tell us that the normal waiting time for service/food is closer to an hour and not 10 – 15 minutes. You had two full hibachi tables waiting for a chef.

Service was OK. Food I think is reasonable considering that they offer small servings. But all I can say is I’ve been to better Jap Restos. =)

This please is not children friendly and be careful with the children’s menu. All your children will get is fried inedible food. The best thing in the children’s plate is the orange slices. The service is substandard from the kitchen. If you do happen to bring children make sure to order their meal right away or you will wait for a long time. Also be careful because it might not even be cooked well

We came here on a Saturday afternoon for my father’s birthday lunch. We had a group of 10, and they were really quick about seating us. They sat us all at one grill. We had a few rolls which were really delicious. We all ended up getting the Hibachi lunch combo, which consisted of two meats. I ordered the steak and chicken. We were excited about the little show they put on when they cook, and the cook definitely did not disappoint. We laughed and we’re thoroughly entertained. The food was fresh and tasted great. We will definitely be back!

I do love coming here. Hibachi is so entertaining and amazingly creative but the food is always fresh and tasty. I love the Pearland Rolls and onion soup.

The hibachi delight is great I had shrimp and chicken. The prices are a little high but I did get enough food to eat off twice so that’s a plus. Appetizer I had tempura shrimp it came with more veggies than shrimp.

To be fair, their Happy Hour is very reasonable, but you get what you pay for. I’ve been to Japan and I’ve eaten at quality sushi places in the US, I’m not an expert by any means but I’d like to think I’m no dummy either. The sushi was grocery store quality, like the day old kind. I tried this place 3 times just to give them the benefit of the doubt. Most times I ordered sushi but one evening I thought I’d try some noodles. There were about 10 noodles in this very large bowl and the rest was shredded carrots or peppers, yes, yellow and red peppers?! Doesn’t seem very authentic… the dish was $ 15 for a bunch of crap cooked veggies. During 2 of my visits the staff were fine but on my 3rd and final visit it was terrible and our waiter was rude. I really wanted to like this place, it’s walking distance from my apt. I’ll just have to make the drive in to Houston to get my sushi fix. Needless to say, I won’t be going back.

First, let me start off that I’m very picky about sushi. I’m pretty sure most people here can’t tell much of a difference from one place to another, so this review might not be the same experience they would have after going here. They are probably better in their special roles when they can throw in strong ingredients to cover the flavors. I ordered a sushi deluxe and I have to admit the sushi wasn’t up to par: 1. The amount of rice they put into a single sushi was a pretty hefty amount. I’m pretty sure they do this to make people feel full after their meals, but it entirely robbed the taste of the salmon, tuna, etc. I ended up taking out 30% of the rice to get the right amount. The flavor of the rice too was pretty bland. It just tasted like plain white rice rather than being able to taste some of the vinegar/sugar/salt. 2. They do not add wasabi to the sushi. A good sushi place adds the right amount of wasabi on the fish to make it more flavorful. What I got was just fish and white rice. I understand if people don’t like wasabi and request to take it out beforehand, but it kind of sucks having to deconstruct the entire sushi to be able to enjoy it the way it’s supposed to be enjoyed. 3. The fish wasn’t the best. You can tell by the texture a lot of the fish wasn’t high quality. I’m a huge fan of salmon, but the two that I got were pretty stringy. I really wanted to like this place since it’s so close by, but in the end I threw out half of it since it ruined my craving for sushi.

I’ve only been here a handful of times and each time the service was excellent. It is a great place to go if you don’t want to drive far. Probably the best sushi happy hour in Pearland. If you go on Tuesdays, the happy hour lasts until closing time. Food is excellent. I don’t recommend getting the pork shu mai because they are very tiny pieces. Random sidenote, the music kept going in and out, kind of distracting

The best sushi happy hour on this side of town, hands down. And it isn’t just a couple of hours a few days a week either, its from 3 to 7pm Monday thru Saturday. We don’t usually dine on the hibachi side, but stick to the sushi since the prices are SO good. The have all of the basic rolls covered(Philadelphia, Shrimp Tempura, etc), plus a few new ones I don’t see very often. My only complaint is the speed of the service has declined on our last few trips. We usually eat here on Friday nights and looks like the staff are overwhelmed and drink refills and bill requests take a while.

I love Sakura. I think it is the best sushi in Pearland and one of the best sushi places in Houston. The menu is large and the food is always good. I’ve tried a couple different rolls and I’m always very impressed. My favorite roll is either the Vegas or the Honey. Both are packed with a lot of flavor. The bento box is also pretty tasty and they have it available for lunch and dinner. I’ve noticed that Bento boxes are served mostly as a lunch entrée at other restaurants. They also function as a hibachi grill, but I have never tried it. The only reason that I give Sakura four stars instead of five is because of the décor. I think that the inside could be a little trendier and less cheesy. Some of the sushi places that I have been to in Houston make it a point to cater to the young, after work, happy hour crowd. This restaurant is more focused on family.

I think you should only go here during Happy Hour(Monday to Saturday 3pm to 7pm) I uploaded a picture of the Happy Hour menu. Take a look– the prices are pretty decent. I ordered the agedashi tofu, the salmon with scallion roll, and the spicy yellowtail. I recommend the agedashi tofu, but the two sushi rolls were meh. The sushi portions were(not surprisingly) small and didn’t have much flavor. But they were cheap so I can’t really complain. I don’t know how else to describe this, but my server Thomas was adorable. He was very attentive and he had a way of speaking that makes you like him. Apparently he’s only worked there for a month, so kudos to him for his customer service skills. One mildly interesting note: the bills you get have % tip recommendations listed on the bottom of the receipt. But their math differs between the invoice vs the actual signature page. I was briefly amused.(You’ll see what I mean on the other picture I uploaded). UPDATE: I went back yesterday and ordered spicy salmon sushi as well as the rock shrimp tempura from the happy hour menu. I still think the sushi was meh, but I really enjoyed the tempura! It was a bunch of deep fried shrimp serve on a bed of greens, drizzled with a sweet and creamy sauce. Delish! TL;DR– Go during Happy Hour and get the agedashi tofu and rock shrimp tempura.
