Garza’s Painting

Garza’s Painting gets the work done fast, they clean up after themselves and they do the little extra things that make a difference. He always called back and was friendly and good price for the work done. I felt confident in leaving him at the house to do his work while I left for errands. He has done the inside and outside of my house. I recommend him highly.

We used Garza’s Painting last week to have our 13 year old house painted in Pearland. My Garza was friendly and prompt. His price was better than the other estimates we got for the same job. He replaced some rotten wood and did a great job washing and cleaning the house before the paint. If we left a message he would always call us back (in the evenings like the other reviewer said) We are very happy and recommend his services.

I could have written the Houston review, based on our bad experience. After Mr. Garza painted and replaced the cable modem cover, Comcast had to come repair the fried wire. I asked for three plantation blinds for the three connecting windows; I have two – with a seam down the center of the middle window. The electric connection to fan/​light was incorrectly reinstalled, necessitating a visit from an electrician. In the process of installing the new front door, the ceramic tile was cracked, and he put two screws in the top hinge, rather than the requisite five. Each time he visited, it was to correct two things, and then he managed to ruin/​damage three other thiings. Never again. Never, ever again. I’ve paid twice – once for Mr. Garza, and second for others to repair the damage.

Mr Gerardo Garza has done two simple exterior and interior jobs for me in the past. Always the low bid, quality ok but not a major issue. The last job consisted of some demo, sheetrock repair and painting. I am so dissapointed. The quality of the sheetrock work (including texture) was so poor I think I could have done a better job and I do not know much about it. We even got into a dispute on what was agreed and what was not, which is a pain because the «contract» (a crappy piece of paper with «Estimate» at the top) was not super specific and it was very easy for him to say «we did not talk about that»…how frustrating! I felt like in the movie the «Monet Pit».
Even the areas where Garza painted, the paint color came out different and he told me that once it dries it will come even… not! Now I have walls with patches of mis-​match paint color, bubbles of joint compound under the paint, screwed up texture, crown molding that does not match and not properly edged and uneven drywall. What a nightmare. All to save a few bucks and go with Garzas Painting.
I got so frustrated with this guy and the poor quality of his work that I ended up hiring a BBB rated painting company to fix Garza’s work. The quality of the work was night and day. Cost a few bucks more (to fix Garza’s work!!) but I am so happy the way the walls texture and molding turned out in my bathroom.
He is always in a rush to get to the next job so I think he is overbooking. The customer is the one who loses here since he is in a hurry and does «hurried» quality type work. Also can never give firm dates of when he is coming over to start work (again, for the same reason, he is overbooking and overpromising).
I will not recommend him. However, if you do end up hiring him even for simple paint jobs be aware that they will not tape any edges so edges will be crooked everywhere. Also if they are painting around windows be aware that they do not tape edges and your windows will have very «low quality work» edges. I had to grab a razor and fix drippings and messed up edges.
He is a low bid type painter, you get what you pay for…
As for me, I will go with BBB rated painters from now on. I learned my lesson here, something cheap will always end up costing more in the long run.
If you are thinking of hiring Gerardo Garza, I hope this review helps you. And if you do end up hiring him, make sure EVERYTHING is written in the crappy piece of paper he will give you. Also do NOT pay him the final amount until he fixes whatever he needs to fix and you are COMPLETELY happy with his work and the quality. That was my #1 error. I paid him and he told me he would come back to fix the mess he did on my bathroom. That says a lot about people in this business. Just remember I warned you…

Mr. Garza is a really nice man, who does good work for a reasonable price. We’ve used him on several occasions and he always does a great job for us. Most importantly, he is honest and trustworthy.
The only problem is that it is sometimes difficult to get a hold of him. But this is expected because he works most of the day and he does not have an office to answer his calls for him. As a result, he will often return phone calls in the evenings.
