Brake Check

They took an hour to change my oil. There was no wait time. They pulled my vehicle right in. Guess «Quick Oil change» doesn’t mean what it used to. Additionally, i now have a big oily shoeprint on my floor… Thanks a lot, BrakeCheck. Why doesn’t Pearland/​Houston have a 5-​minute Oil Change facility?

What good is making an appointment (because you live out of town) and getting there only to wait an 1 ½ hours before they can even get you in.

Great customer service. The manager and entire staff were very friendly. The manager twice called me out to my car to discuss/​show me what they found and what they recommended. He provided information and suggestions without making me feel pressured that he was upselling me. I was in and out within two hours and my brakes are now silent! Stated their work is guaranteed for 4,000 miles. Thanks Brake Check!

Wish I read have read these first. Spent $ 300 on brakes. They vibrate and 3000 miles later they are now saying I need more parts. But what was the worst thing is that when I went back to talk to them about it, they wouldn’t even look at the car!!! They treated me like crap. Would never go back.

2 hours for an alignment. I asked when I arrived how long the wait was and was told an hour. They had one car in front of me at the time. In the two hours, no one came out to tell me it’ll be longer or that they’re sorry for the inconvenience. I got the alignment but it would have been nice to have better communication. I think service can be stepped up.

I have the same sentiments as the other reviewed customers; I wish I would have read the reviews before stopping by. Service for brakes took 3 hours and 36 minutes (yes, I checked the time). First, they tried to over charge me saying the service was $ 317 but I refused to pay that amount than he changed it to $ 237. And I still feel overcharged!
I got my front brakes done on each side and they did a flush, which was not stated at the beginning. I asked to see what I was paying for and the «manager» got upset. I feel robbed and taken advantage of because (a) I’m a woman and (2) because, «I may not know about car maintenance» or whatever. Also, they refused to keep me updated with my vehicle status and obviously avoided me the whole 3 something hours I was there.
Overall, bad business and I will never, ever return again. A place that’s called BRAKE CHECK should have a better service on brakes. Oh I forgot to mention, the phone number that’s on a poster inside for unsatisfied service was a number for a hotel chain… Ha! Classy, Brake Check. Don’t waste your time or hard earned money.

Awesome service from the manager! He really helped me understand what was going on with my car. He knew what he was talking about as I knew of my car’s issues, but I did not understand the severity of the issues. I also did not know how to address these issues without getting ripped off. He did my alignment and pointed out other things I need to address to get my car in better driving condition. I will take his advice and take care of these issues asap. I’m glad he did not talk down to me or just take my money and blow me off. Ladies, if you are having issues with your car, I suggest checking in with this location for front end problems.

Zero stars. Terrible service. Wish I would’ve took the time to read reviews on them before giving them any of my money. Management, particularly the boss Robert too focused on up selling that the problems your trying to address get overlooked. Customer loyalty is the last thing on their mind. They are all about getting the most they can from every person that walks through the door. They tell you you need to replace things you don’t really need replaced; how do I know, because one of the workers, pulled me to the side and let me know that I was being misled and really didn’t need a replacement but didn’t want to say it in front of his boss for obvious reasons. Had to go back two additional times because the problem was not solved. My brakes sounded worst than they did before I went to them $ 500 later. They are slow, unprofessional, greedy liars that don’t deserve to be in business. I will never go there again and I highly recommend you not to either.

I wish I could give this organization less than 1 star. I first visited Brake Check at Country Place in Pearland on April 04, 2014 after scheduling an appt. to have my braking system inspected on my 2006 Mercedes C230 because the panel on my dash gave me a warning to have brakes serviced. Upon arrival, the store was not aware of my appt. because they said that the computer system was broken. I was in the store for 3 hours and was finally escorted to the service floor to show me that I need new front brakes, rotors, hardware, and sensors. They wanted to do the work then but I told them that I could not stay any longer. I wanted to reschedule an appt. for the next week to have the work completed. I was quoted a price of a little over $ 540.00 for the total job and advised to schedule the appt. on-​line to receive a 20% discount on labor when I return. I did reschedule for the following Friday, April 11 at 1:30pm. I arrived at 1:20, my car was immediately moved to the service floor, but no one came out to talk to me until 3:00pm. At that time, I was told that the store did not have the correct rotors for my car. I explained that when I scheduled the appt. on-​line, the website specifically asks the year, make, and model of my car. I then stated that if they had all of this information, why did they not know that the appropriate parts for this car were not in stock. I was told that another store had been called and the appropriate rotors were on the way. At 3:40, the same service technician came out to tell me that the rotors that had been brought over were still the wrong rotors. My car needed sport package rotors. I told them that the website asked if the car was sports package and I responded yes when I made the appt., so why, again, were they not prepared for this. I was given no excuse and told that another store had been contacted and they could have the new rotors within 10 minutes, but the price would now be $ 617.00. I refused! They said that they could discount this price for me because of their error to $ 577.00. I asked about the 20% discount and was told that the on-​line discount was 10% and it could not apply now because of the discount given already. I contested but agreed only if they could get this done before 4:45 because I had a 5:00 appt. somewhere else. By 4:45, the new rotors had not arrived and I had to leave without the work being done. They totally wasted my time on two Fridays in a row. Took the car to Firestone on April 13, with the total job costing $ 445.00 and being done in 2−½ hours.

LOWERED CAR FRIENDLY! I take my car here all the time! I drive a 2013 Lancer Evolution and they can add negative camber for when I track my car. (If you have the right adjustments) They know how to adjust at 0 degrees, unlike most shops who just stop when the alignment program turns green. Their lifetime alignments are definitely worth it and cheaper than most places! Rich takes care of his customers and all the employees are always nice. I definitely recommend this place!

I previously went to another auto shop and was told i needed a $ 700 fix to stop a noise that was happening every time I braked. I had already spent $ 1300 on another issue with my car at that same shop and was very unhappy with the quality of service as well as customer service there. (did not trust the other car shop at all nor did i trust what they were saying) Being that it was a Sunday and I had my daughter with me I needed to get my car looked at asap in hopes that it wasn’t really going to cost $ 700. When I arrived to Brake Check the gentleman at the front desk, Richard, listened to everything i had to say and immediately got me settled in and my car looked at. After he and the technician looked at my car it turns out my calipers we loose and just needed to be replaced so that my brakes pretty much wouldn’t FALL OFF! I was on my way in no time. I literally held back tears of relief as they told me what was really going on with my car and were appalled at what the other store was trying to charge me for something that wasn’t even the issue with the noise. I recently brought my car back in to be checked out (long story dealing with previous work done from another auto shop) and doubled checked to see if past work had truly been done to my car. Richard remembered my story from before… which as a client blew me away because Im sure they see tons of people every day and made me feel as if I was a valued client and felt right at home. He happily took my car to the back to get looked at… once he was done looking at it he in «English» (not fancy auto tech talk) explained to me what all he saw. Once i told him what exactly was going on he proceeded to write a report up for me so that i had it to reference if needed. He not only did that but he, at his own will, called other facilities/​car manufacturer to find out how much a specific part that I needed would cost. This once again… blew me away. Richard is very trustworthy and so easy to talk to without feeling like an idiot by explaining whats going on with your car as «I dont know… i just hear a noise from the front!» lol
I am a Pearland native, my daughter goes to school down the street, I live in the area, and also work down the street from this facility. I have told everyone i know my story and several people have told me they love this facility as well and others were happy to hear about this place because they will keep them in mind next time they need anything. I am so happy to have found such humble, nice, and trustworthy customer service! I will recommend this place and be sure to tell everyone about Richard!

This is a terrible and irresponsible company. I went to change my brake pads at the Spring tx 2920 Store. paid $ 720 for the job and after several trial and error procedures by 2 unqualified technicians I left with my car «fixed». After a couple of days I noticed like my shock absorbers were making noise but drove it for 2 weeks thinking it wasn’t serious. Went to the dealer to have them fixed and my surprise was that those were ok and the problem was that they didn’t put the caliper bolt in the rear wheel and I drove in a very dangerous situation for 3 weeks. The dealer said we could have gotten killed and they would no allow the car out. charges were $ 90 to fix it. Went to Brake Check to claim a reimbursement. and their response is that they would not respond for that. My wife is scared driving the car because she does not trust the job done. I am going to have to take the car to the dealer again and have all the work rechecked of this BRAKE-​NOCHECK company

I opted to rate «eek! Methinks not,» because of the 12 hours and 44 minutes that it took to perform the service, that I was told would take 2 or 3 hours. I went to this location as it is the nearest to me and therefore conveniently situated. I have a grueling schedule that did not allow me to shop around for other locations to have my breaks serviced. It took nearly two hours for them to even look at my truck, when I was told 20 – 30 minutes and every time I asked what the holdup was, I was told I was next. When I was finally told what the remedy was for my truck, I was quoted an astounding amount. I said I would have to return another day since I had already wasted so much time merely waiting for a diagnosis. I did not plan to return but I was told that I «could be worked with» on the price. So I did return, first thing the following morning. When I informed the gentleman assisting me that I had received a better quote and since he promised to work on the price, I allowed him to make his offer. He insisted I tell him the quote I was given and when I refused he finally gave me a new price, nearly $ 250 less that the original quote. I was satisfied with the new quote, but was left wondering why I had to play a stupid game of «give me the real price.» I again had lots to do, so I decided I would work with my headphones in the waiting area. After two hours of working, I had my friend pick me up. To my astonishment, my truck was still in the spot I had left it two hours earlier. When I returned 6 hours later, my truck was still being worked on. Then I had to wait another 1 hour and 44 minutes for them to finish. They obviously have a poor system when it comes their various times for service. My advise to consumers is to avoid this place if you want to skip the runaround on price, and if you value your time.

Had a 7:30 appointment on 5÷09÷13 and was told it would only be a couple of hours. Called at 10:30 and they were just then working on it. Very rude manager (Shawn). Was originally quoted all new tie rods and bearings in the front. Got my truck to discover they only did bearings on one side and tie rods on one side but still charged me the original quote price. Over-​filled the power steering so that fluid went everywhere under my hood. Charged me $ 29 for power steering fluid but put my old nasty fluid back in. Original quote also called for a 4-​wheel alignment but they only did the front. Got it on the highway to find that the shaking at 65MPH was now SEVERELY worse and the vehicle was still pulling to the left as before they touched it. What exactly did I pay $ 630 for? Called and Aaron told me to bring it back in but I am very scared to do so after reading the other reviews of this location and seeing how long it takes them to do anything.
Update: 7÷12÷13 Two months later and I still have not been contacted by this imaginary area manager to discuss this. I guess it is a moot point now as I have sold the truck but I made it known to the buyer to NOT take here under penalty of dealing with idiots.

Went in on July 17, Tuesday, to have my brakes looked at as they were squealing. guy behind the counter told me I had 20−30% brake life left and to come back in 6 months. He then said that he could extend the life of the brakes by bleeding the brake lines for $ 75. I agreed to this and paid the $ 75. A couple of days later on Thursday evening I was driving home and heard a pop. Got within a couple of blocks of home and my car began to make a grinding noise when I braked. I took my car back to Brake Check the next day, Friday the 20^th, and ended up paying $ 600 and waiting 5 hours for extensive brake work to be done that evidently needed to be done. I left frustrated. Later that evening, the car began to make a high pitched squeal while driving and the squeal worsened when I braked. Took the car back in the next day, Saturday, and found the squeal was due to one of the new rotors needed adjusting as the rotor was incorrectly installed. I would have eventually gotten over my irritation *except* on Thursday, August 9, the car began to make the same grinding noise again while driving. The noise worsened when braking. This time, I just went to a different garage and found that the wrong type of rotors were put in and that the drums were incorrectly installed (among other things) at Brake Check a few weeks earlier on July 20^th.

online appt! 20% off labor! *EXCELLENT* customer service! New to the area/​location but a repeat customer of BREAK CHECK! I’m happy and my F150 is happy! Thanks Guys!

I am changing my review to 3 stars. The issue was looked at by the district manager and I scheduled an appointment to go back to this location to get the work done. I got a 20% discount for scheduling an appointment online and also the oil change was re-​done at no charge. Mike — the store director was very nice and helpful. I would give more stars but I had to sit at the shop from 9 AM — 1 PM. I did not have another ride on this visit (unlike last time) and could not leave. Overall this trip was much better than the last.
