Specialties

Mel’s Army Navy first opened its doors in 1955 and has been a staple in the community ever since. Don’t let the Army Navy name fool you, we carry more than military clothing. Our shelves are lined with name brands such as Levi’s, Dockers, Carhartt, Red Wing, Lee, Wrangler, Dickies, Izod, London Fog, Rockport, Florsheim, New Balance, Woolrich and many many more. Stop in and see for yourself.

We also do custom screen printing and embroidery and have worked with many local sports leagues and elementary and high schools. Let us know what you need and we will be happy to help you. Not sure what you are looking for, stop in and talk to one of our knowledge team members.

The store also provides safety toe shoes to many of the local municipalities as well as uniform shoes for numerous Rockland County fire companies.

Whatever your uniform or shoe needs, Mel’s can help fulfill those needs at a price that’s right.

Meet the Business Owner

Chris F.

Business Owner

Although you can still find Mel here every day, the store and tradition are being carried on by Chris Frawley. The new owner of Mel’s Army Navy Center grew up in Pearl River. He attended St. Margaret’s Elementary School and Albertus Magnus High School. Chris is no stranger to Mel’s as he worked in the store from the Summer of 1990 to January 2002. After leaving Mel’s in 2002, Chris received his BA Degree in Business Administration from the University of Albany. Upon graduation he returned to Rockland County and worked at Washington Mutual Bank on Middletown Road in Pearl River and then a branch in West Haverstraw. Chris’ career path eventually led him to become a marketing executive for two prestigious law firms in New York City.

When Mel and Chris started discussing Mel’s retirement, Chris was working for one of the largest law firms in the world and was the Chief Financial Officer of the New York Legal Marketing Association.
