AJ’s Catering & Take Out

I never write reviews but I am compelled sing praises for A.J.‘s Catering. There was a little bit of soul in every bite.
Fresh, delicious and absolutely home-​made!
They could not have been more professional in setting a menu and working on a tight budget for a corporate lunch that was described as «off the chain» and «crazy-​good.»
Bring on your pickiest relatives… A.J. will make you look good!

AJ’s Catering is amazing and my go-​to spot in Pearl River, hands down.
First off, AJ makes the best sandwiches around; the salads are tastefully assembled too. Moreover the portions are great: the meals are more than ample, most meals come with a side and all meals come with a cookie. Not only does he make great lunches… he offers them at the great prices.
Secondly, AJ updates his website every morning with daily specials: wraps, sandwiches, salads, soups, hot plates, yadda yadda. The variety is a major perk. It doesn’t matter what you choose – it’s all prepared brilliantly.
Obviously a tasty meal is the most important factor when considering a catering/​take-​out spot, but the fact that AJ and his staff are so courteous
and professional keeps me coming back and also compelled me to write this review.
I’ve never ordered full on catering simply because I don’t have the opportunity to do so often. I pop in and out mostly for lunch. But I’m confident anything he cooks will be delicious. He’s trained by the Culinary Institute of America. Kudos AJ, and thanks for all the great eats.

Best sandwiches in Rockland, hands down no dispute. I’ve recommended this place to many friends; delicious food, cheap prices, large portions, and a very friendly owner.

AJ’s in Pearl River is the bomb diggity bomb bomb when it comes to food.
I have eaten here since it 1^st opened and LOVE it.
One thing that stands out about this place is how consistent it is. I’m a big sandwich fan so AJ’s is an easy choice for me as they make magic sandies packed with flavor and extra bacon if you ask for it. Definitely not an average NY Deli.
STAND OUT SANDWICH FOR ME:
Grilled Cajun Chicken w/​Bacon and onions and stuff.

I like this place when I’m in Pearl River bi-​weekly. The food is fresh, the owner is polite and hardworking. You have to know what to order though. Lots of grilled chicken, panini’s, wraps and such. Comfort food, covered in cheese, which I like on cold days. Only a few drawbacks, #1 bacon in everything, even the soups have loads of long pieces of fleshy white bacon fat that would make even the most hardened bacon lover’s (me) stomach turn. #2 Over salts everything and I love salt. Even the cookies taste saltier than sugary. Smoker? #3 Monosodium Glutamate, I have no tolerance and get the worst headaches which make me avoid most soups, Chinese food, gravies and such. Most deli’s don’t use too much but one sip of Aj’s soups and it’s full on MSG pain, especially the corn chowder. I admit it is good and I tried to eat it 3 times and got three awful headaches.
Last but not least, the prices. You will spend about $ 9-​$ 10 for lunch, $ 5 for soup most times more than Luigi O’Gradys’ across the street which I don’t understand. How can you compete with the most popular Deli in Pearl River if you charge more than they do? Aj’s doesn’t claim to be organic or grass fed or anything. You do get faster, friendlier service and a small salad though. I will continue to eat here and enjoy most of the menu but no more soup. I would definitely have them cater an event over Luigi O’Gradys though. The owner is an obvious pro.

Had sandwiches from AJ’S today at a bridal shower and they were great! Really different ideas, delicious & truly something for everyone!

The best place to get takeout in the Pearl River area. AJ makes everything from scratch and it’s all delicious. On busy nights we get food here instead of just grabbing pizza. The kids love his macaroni and cheese with bacon and peas; my husband loves the chicken corn chowder. I’m a fan of his panini with portobello mushrooms and his eggplant sandwich. We have never been disappointed – and every meal comes with a free cookie! Sandwiches come with either a small salad or bag of chips. You just can’t beat it.
