It took 2 – 3 weeks to get an appointment for an estimate. The guy assured me I would get the estimate within a WEEK.
It has been 2 months and still no estimate, no phone call, nothing.
Used another company. Would not recommend.
Poor customer service.

David’s Roofing provided excellent and professional services for us! We had a leak coming in through the kitchen ceiling. One roofing company went up on the roof for a few minutes and said he saw nothing. Two other companies offered to fix less of the problem for approximately $ 1,500 — $ 1,700. David’s quote was much less and covered more repairs. The technicians also reassured us that our roof will last a few more years instead of pushing us to replace the roof now.
With each company there was a waiting period for them to come out because all the storms and rains had affected so many homes. David’s is worth the wait! The owner called us personally before and after the job! Each worker was very friendly and knowledgeable. I can not say enough good things about this company! Our roof has held up great with these very heavy rains lately in Mililani Mauka.

There is a difference between charging more for good quality and just ripping your customers off. The estimates from this company were almost double that of another roofing company. I implore anyone to get 3 – 5 different quotes. There are other roofing companies with a lot of good reviews on Unilocal that charge far less. You wont regret getting a second opinion. It’s no big deal saving 100s but the difference was in the 1000s.

I’ve called twice and left messages and no response. I’ve sent an email and still no response. That’s sad because their TV ad looks so great.

I was hoping to use David’s since the reviews are great. I’m giving them one star for service before I even hired them! They won’t send someone out to do an estimate for six weeks unless it’s an emergency. I’m not going to lie and say there is one. The ONE guy who comes to the country (Waianae) is injured and not due to return for six weeks. Really? When a person is out of commission, most places find a solution. I’d even be willing to wait a week while their current staff covers this one man’s area. But they won’t do it. If they cannot manage and staff properly, I’m not going to wait.

We were introduced to David’s through our realtor as he was hired to inspect the roof on a home we purchased. It was a very professional, prompt, organized, etc., experience. And, they were nice people too. We noticed a roof leak today (we think caused by our air conditioning contractor) so we called David’s and the owner showed a few hours later and fixed the broken tile. He didn’t even charge us. I guess he was in the Christmas spirit. We will forever recommend his company as they truly understand customer service.

This may be a little bit of a different review because we didn’t have David’s do our roof. I believe it will be helpful if you are shopping for a honest roofer.
We recently purchased our first home which was built in 1972 and still has the original tile roof. Long story short, I had it in my mine that the roof needed to be replaced do to age, weight, and construction methods. I had 5 different roofing companies look at it. Their recommendations ranged from you should replace ASAP, we can just resurface the tiles, and to just giving me what I asking for, a new roof. Until Raymond from David’s came by to check it out. First thing out of his mouth after the intro was, «leave your roof and get your money’s worth». He then went on to explain why and address all the concerns that I had which led me to believe I needed a new roof. As a new first time home buyer, this advice was very reassuring. Especially because of the money that has, and will be continually spent on making the house our home. Raymond also extended the offer to be there with more question in the future. David’s should change their slogan to «customer or not, always a friend». David’s really understands how business should be done. Think long term and not the quick sale. They are not the cheapest, which if you ask me is a good thing. Think about it, would you ever want to be described as cheap? Even though I am not doing my roof now, they are the only company I am going to call when it is time and they have a free salesperson for life.

I think this is my first review ever here on Unilocal.Not even horrible experiences have compelled me to write a review. Raymond just left my house not 20mins ago and I was compelled to write this, and I’m not even going to be a customer. Now that should tell you something.
Correction: only my second review

I originally chose David’s as one of several companies to get an estimate to resurface my old, alligatoring, asphalt roof. Davelyn came out and took several measurements on the roof. I also asked her to look into a new skylight in the front of our house, as it used to just be some hard plastic held down by bricks. Remember the skylight, it will come in to play later.
After getting my estimate, there was some household back and forth with what exactly we needed, and after a couple months we finally got back to David’s and approved the project. The work took a while, as they are very busy, and it was mostly just Shaun, one of the foremen, working on my roof. They scraped off all the old asphalt and replaced it with SolarGard white roofing system.
The new skylight was really nice, but didn’t fit perfectly on the curb. I think the guy they had make the skylight also did not know it was going to be at an angle, because we had several problems with leaks coming in between the frame and the plastic dome. Over the next several months, Shaun came out to our house several times and tried many different ways to address the issues. It seemed like every time we tried a solution, the next hard rain would prove us wrong. David even came out and checked out the skylight. Everything was good for a while until the big storm a couple weeks before Iselle came though, and some water was spraying in from the skylight. They had some carpenters come out and completely rebuild the curb to fit the skylight, making sure everything was done before the hurricanes.
Why did I tell you this long story? Everything With the skylight was covered by their warranty. Every time I had an issue, I e-​mailed Davelyn and usually set up an appointment with her that day or the next for a visit some time in the next week. David’s has great customer service, and we are hiring them again to take care of a few other issues around our house.

I was referred to David’s Custom Roofing by a realtor friend who has used him in the past. We had no problems with our asphalt shingle roof, but after 18 years the shingles were getting worn on the edges and were dark and discolored from mold and mildew. We plan to install a PV system, too, so we wanted to make sure the roof would last as long as the PV system is warrantied (25 years). I called David’s office over the weekend on a Sunday, and left a message mentioning my friend’s name and asking if I could get an estimate. David called me Monday morning and told me he could get Baba out to our place by mid-​week. When Baba showed up, he knew exactly what the situation was and took less than an hour to take the measurements he needed. He left us with brochures that explained the replacement shingle choices we had and told us to just give the office a call back when we’ve decided on what we wanted and they would provide us with a quote. We decided on a mildew resistant, reflective shingle in the same color as our current roof. We phoned that in, and received a quote delivered via email later that day. David called the next morning to make sure we received the quote and to ask if we had any questions. Only one: When could he start??? Micah was the project manager who got back to us with an estimated start date… that was two months out! Oh, well — good things come to those who wait… and they did. There was a cancellation and we were able to get our project moved up a week. The 4-​man crew that came out was headed up by Marshall, who oversaw the day-​to-​day work. This crew worked super efficiently — what was most impressive is that after each work day, the materials and the surrounding yard was left spic-​n-​span, absolutely clean! They even left the roofing materials lined up for use the next day. Like I said, super efficient crew. The job took 4 days to complete. I was fortunate to be able to watch them on the last day — and they spent over an hour cleaning the entire yard. They even used a high powered magnet to «sweep» the grounds for any nails that may have escaped their clean up or got swept into the grass. They left the house in immaculate shape — and we now have a roof ready for the next 25 years! Oh, and for those who are wondering: Their estimate came in lower than the other estimate received!

I contacted David’s Custom Roofing and Painting a few days ago for a free estimate as I noticed that there was a leak in our patio roof The next day they sent Baba to take a look at our roof and saw that the shingles were still in good condition; however, the people that built the patio did not nail the shingles in the right area and they did not use nails that were of proper length. This caused a nail to pop up and water started to leak through when there was a lot of rain the week before. Like some of the other reviews stated, if the problem is simple/​minor like the one we had, David’s roofing fixed the issue on the spot and did not charge anything. Baba did that for us and also thoroughly explained what was going on with our roof. His professionalism and willingness to help and advise us was very refreshing and really enforces the company’s slogan of «Once a customer, always a friend», despite me not being a customer yet. In the future when we do have roof issues I’ll be sure to go through David’s Custom Roofing and Painting!

Bob came out because my neighbour had seen a cracked tile on my roof. Bob was awesome! He went up found the tile had slipped and caulked it back into place. He also checked the rook for any other tiles that looked questionable… non found and when I asked how much. He waived the fee. If I have any other issues or need a new roof… I am certainly going to them! Honesty counts… He could have told me a line, but he was honest… Thank you so much!

Like the ad says… once a customer, always a friend. We will always recommend David’s Custom Roofing because we can trust that David will respond quickly when called… regardless of the job size. We have a 39 year old house and we know that David could probably talk us into some sort of major roof change if he wanted. We have been working with him since 2002 because we trust his honesty. He has been fixing our small problems for years versus pushing a new roof. His pricing is incredible… I can’t even give you an example because it really is like family pricing. He also has a lot of references in the building industry, which he is willing to share. Whenever we need advice or a referral for some other trade like engineers, capenters or contractors, he has always been there to help… and always ensures we have credible companies from which to choose. He never makes us feel as though we are imposing. I wish I could recall who recommended him to us because I would thank that person. I often use Unilocal to assess how others feel about a vendor. This company deserves the 5 stars they have been receiving.
In summary, if you want an honest, quick responding, efficient and friendly roofer, call David at David’s Custom Roofing!

Dave’s does good work. I was surprised at first because they subbed out my paint job, but the guys that work for them do good work, are neat, and provide excellent customer service. Dave’s tv commercial is right because they really want to be your friend.

Let’s start by saying I’m a pretty picky SOB. I must admit, these guys are on it! The lead roofer (Junior) never stops moving! Other than the «expected» delays due to weather and weekends, the job was done ON TIME and to my COMPLETE satisfaction! As the previous post noted, there was nothing left for me to pick up! The entire area around the house was thoroughly cleaned, looking better than when they arrived!
I am VERY impressed with the entire experience from quote to the last shingle!

After years of getting screwed by unscrupulous contractors my father has found a winner — David’s Custom Roofing & Painting. Very trustworthy and sincere. Last week he just completed repairs to his roof on his Pearl City home. My dad was completely satisfied with all the roofers and found the office sales staff very friendly, cordial and efficient. What surprised my dad the most was how the workers cleaned the area where they worked. Will recommend them to everyone and anyone.
