Lahey Medical Center, Peabody

Took time off from work today for a confirmed appointment. Even had the letter confirming date, place and time. Arrived and told I didn’t have appointment. Apparently they had overbooked but failed to tell me. No attempt to contact me to tell me not to waste time away from work to drive to Peabody for nothing. Not impressed.

Good cafeteria for lunch, freshly cooked food. Lots of options such as salads, hot and cold sandwiches, daily specials, desserts, ice cream, beverages, chips.etc.
All at very good price. As for the medical care, I am not sure, I’m not a patient, but work near by and have lunch here

Emergency room staff slow

* I first called Lahey in December of 2014, seeking a new specialist. I was told there were no available appointments until April of 2015 and so made an appointment for April 15 at 9:00. I was advised to arrive early to check in.
* As a working professional, I took time off for the appointment and arrived at Lahey at 8:00. I was checked in by Michelle at 8:30, who confirmed my appointment at 9:00.
* At 9:30, when I still had not been seen or approached by any Lahey personnel, I approached the waiting room window to ask for an update. I was informed that my appointment had been moved to 10:20. I explained that my original appointment was at 9:00 and that I had a work event at noon and had to leave the hospital by 10:30 in order to make it on time. The employee said she would check to see if I could be seen before the 10:20 time.
* At 10:00, when I had still not heard from anyone, I approached the window again. The employee said she thought someone was on their way out to see me. At 10:30, when I had still not heard from anyone, I approached the window for the last time. The employee could not tell me when or if I would be seen that morning.
I left the hospital at 10:30 to make it to my work meeting on time. I waited for two and a half hours and was never seen. Because of this failure, I suffered a delay in important medical treatment. Needless to say, I will not be coming back.

Very pleased with Lahey Peabody. Caring, knowledgeable doctors.

I have gone to Lahey Peabody twice now for scheduled evening CT scans. To begin with, there is no real main entrance. The Emergency Department is well marked, but the entrance to the hospital is not. There is no lobby, no one to direct you to your destination. Upon entering the CT department, no one was behind the desk. There were other patients standing, waiting, disgruntled. Eventually a female tech arrived and began to call us in one at a time. The test itself was quick and efficient, but the tech was sarcastic and definitely had an attitude. After speaking with some of the other waiting patients, I discovered that there is a bell to press for service, but it is inside the waiting room, in a corner and not well marked. It is not visible when entering the department.
There is a sign in the department with catch phrases to describe the «smiling, caring, engaged, empathetic …» Lahey clinic staff. It made me laugh out loud! Next time I’ll go elsewhere.

I have been going here for 3 year now and I love it and I have never waited for more then 3 min for my doctor and most time I get call in early and that is great and I love my Doctor Dr Diddi and Her Nurse Practitioner Sandy Sullivan they are Wonderful Caring and So easy to Talk to about My Health and there Nurses Assistant is also Great and very pleasant and cheerful and I would Highly Recommend this Place 100 Percent

Came to the er with chest/​rib cage pain was getting sharp shooting pains when breathing. At 11pm the place was dead a male nurse who brought me in thought my wife was my son and the doctor didnt diagnose me a female nurse did with costochondritis. The doctor actually told me I think its this but I dont know anything about it or how to diagnose it. At least he was honest but at the same time scary. The medical field has gone down hill drastically it’s pretty frightening I feel like doctors dont care and dont want to be bothered.

Things have only deteriorated more since my last review. The PCP we chose after ours left does not respond to phone calls, does not follow through on tests that he specifically ordered, and just refers to a specialist without doing any kind of a complete physical.
If this is the future of ‘good’ medical care, I am even more terrified than I was before!

I can honestly say I have not one positive thing to say about Lahey Clinic, the doctors could careless at my last appointment when I asked the doctor about an antibiotic she told me that everyone is sick with something what is the big deal. I literally told the woman at the front desk to make sure I never see that doctor again it was an embarrassment to the medical profession.

Dr. Kowal — Pain Management Center is awful!
In my 15 years experience of seeing Pain Specialists, he is the absolute worst I have dealt with. I am sure lots of patients have complaints with doctors when it comes to pain clinics but please note that I am not a patient on narcotics, I am a patient with a severe, crippling disease that is generally happy with the care I receive. He made me feel like a drug seeker when I explained to him that my pain level has risen to a 9 out of 10… 3 days last month. He told me that I had too many issues going on in my back/​neck and that he can no longer help me. Serioulsy? I am not 90!
I would immediately change doctors and never see him again but I am dealin with health insurance issues.

BEWARE!!! Lahey Clinic charges patients a facility use fee that your insurance company won’t cover. I went in for an appointment I made for a crushed thumb nail. I waited almost 1 hour to see the doctor even though I made an appointment 2 days in advance. The knowledge of the doctor was subpar compared to other doctors I have see at other clinics. I got more from reading on the internet what would happen to my nail compared to a professional who went to med school! I would recommend Harvard Vanguard Clinics instead, excellent and superior compared to Lahey. Harvard was able to treat and charge me fairly and properly. Don’t risk going to Lahey and paying almost a $ 100 facility fee!

I can’t say enough good things about the Breast Center at Lahey Peabody. I had my genetic testing done at this location and the breast specialists have worked with me every step of the way.
I will be having a mastectomy later this year and I feel confident in my choice of doctors and hospital.

I rarely write reviews for clinics, but I had to for Lahey Clinic. This place is just awful. I switched to one of the primary care doctor here from Lahey Essex and it’s just been so awful (I won’t mention any names for the sake of Lahey and the doctor). I thought switching to a bigger and nicer facility would have been a better change but boy was I wrong. Everytime I call this place, no one knows what’s going on. I’m always on hold and given wrong information. Nurses that work at this clinic are just miserable or something. They don’t treat their patients very nicely. I don’t know if they’re just miserable themselves working there (?)
Long story short, after having to deal with them several times, I did change my primary care physician to someone else and it’s probably one of the best decisions I’ve ever made!

I recently switched my PCP to Lahey in hopes that a larger facility would be more organized and on top of things. Boy have I been wrong.
In my first visit I had to take a bloodtest and get other things done. Now after 14 days of not hearing anything I just naively assumed nothing was wrong. Then another 2 weeks after that I get a phone call from the automated system saying I have an appointment with a specialist in a specialty I have never heard about. I try to call the number I thought I could hear on the phone then after that failed because the volume in the recording is so low I emailed the complaint line.
Got a hold of a «Customer Service Rep» who told me that my address was not in the system which didn’t make sense because I had put EVERYTHING in myself on the online appointment system and that I would have to call ANOTHER number to reschedule and fix my info.
At this point I am angry and email the Customer Service Manager myself who apologizes and «can’t understand how this could happen blah blah blah» Never heard from this person again.
Another 3 or 4 days pass and my PCP’s assistant emails me and asks to confirm my birthday and she would send me my blood work and an explanation of why I was referred to this specialist and whatnot. That was probably 4 weeks ago and I have not seen any of that paperwork BUT got a confirmation reminder for an appointment with my PCP for June of 2010.
I will be AGAIN switching PCP’s because of this mix up and clear disregard for my care as a patient.
And remind me again why there is not a ZERO or MINUS Stars option? Because I think sometimes businesses warrant it.

I’d been having trouble breathing, thought I was having an asthma attack. I left work, and couldnt breathe, so I finally went to the ER. The whole place was completely empty (it was like 3 am), so I was in x-​ray in a matter of minutes. My results showed a blockage in my lungs. They shipped me off to Burlington, because apparently there are no doctors that work overnights in the Peabody location.
So, points for being quick and responsive. Lack of points for having no doctors. What kind of ER is only staffed by nurses? Well, that at least explains why it was so empty in there…
