Borash Veterinary Clinic provides the community with affordable, quality veterinary care to a variety of patients requiring preventative, medical and surgical services. Over the years Dr Borash and his staff have built the clinic into a progressive small animal practice serving all local communities.

Business Owner

Dr. Borash started the Borash Veterinary Clinic in 1979 after graduating from The Ohio State University with his DVM in 1973. Dr Borash has special interests in soft tissue, orthopedic and dental surgeries.

Dr. Southgate is a 2008 graduate of Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. Prior to attending veterinary school, he worked as veterinary technician. He is actively involved with the VANS association and has special interests in dermatology and oncology.

I have had many animals
Over the past 25 years and treat them all like my own children. I can honestly say that this clinic also treats my animals as if they were their children. They are given individual love, attention and care from all the staff. They are kind and gentle and if you prefer to sit on the floor with your pet when they are in need of treatment then no questions asked. Everyone should be able to comfort their animal in their time of need even if it’s just holding their paw or Patting their head. I have had a few close
calls with my animals and can honestly say that Dr Borash and Dr. Southgate are the cream of the crop. They are both highly educated and have a unique relationship with all types of animals. Every animal should be so lucky to receive the special care this clinic provides

Appts are always on time unless there has been an emergency, the Doctors and staff are friendly, caring and experts in thier fields. Very clean office & exam rooms. The office will take you in anytime in case of emergency. I personally experienced a terrible emergency with my cat this past winter and Dr Southgate opened the office just for me on a Sunday. She had to be put down but he made every effort to avoid it, he was very compassionate. The rates are not outrageous, either.

We followed Dr Southgate to this clinic. He is an amazing vet, he has saved our Sheltie from cancer and a serious infection. He has always made his diagnosis quickly and accurately, his treatment is the best. I trust him with my animals and would truly give him my highest recommendation. He listens and explains he is not quick to over treat or over test. I have never seen Dr. Borash but the office staff is efficient, kind and very easy to work with. This entire office has been very professional and given exceptional care to my animals. As a fellow health care provider, I have only the highest regard for Dr. Southgate. My dogs love him as well!

Dr Borash is one of my favorite people in the world, He has been taking care of my 5 year old daughter a.k.a Bichon /​Shitzu for the last year and a half two years now. I come all the way from the s. end in Boston to come and see him, he is just terrific he saw my baby on a Sunday night after her knee surgery I really thought he was going to tell me to either come in on Monday or to take her to Angel memorial this is when Dr. Myles borash became my hero and he even call me on a Sunday to check up on her I honestly cannot ask for any better care for my baby …
All of the staff and Dr Southgate has been wonderful to us as well.

I can’t say enough great things about Dr. Borash and his dedicated and caring staff. He provided special care for my very old (15) and very tiny chihuahua. She needed almost all her teeth removed. I had many concerns given her 3 lb. size and history of allergies to everything. I questioned whether she would make it through the procedure with anesthesia. Dr. Borash was wonderful with explaining the process and assured me she would be okay. I dropped her off very early the next morning at their kennel. (convenient hours for those who need to be at work early) Dr. Borash called me later that morning with a full report and status of her care. Everything went well and I am happy to report my little dog continues to do well. She acts like a young puppy again!!! Thank you, Dr. Borash!!!

I have had several VERY positive experiences with Borash Veterinary Clinic.
Several years ago when our female Yorkie was sick Dr Hutchins worked hard to diagnose what was wrong, treat accordingly and keep her comfortable. When she did pass the staff was extremely comforting — having us bring our male Yorkie along so that he could have closure as well.
Now that our male Yorkie is aged and having some health issues there is no place I would rather go. Dr Southgate came in on his day off to review results of tests with us and come up with a treatment plan. The staff is always friendly and doctors accessible. I would be lost without them.
Thank you to all doctors and staff for putting my pets first.

Borash needs to retire. This place is as old as dirt. They have been around for many years and have really angered a lot of people. The staff is apathetic, lazy and uncaring. They will heavily screen you if you call and almost push you to choose another vet if they feel you care too much about your pet. This is because this type of clinic is a really low quality suburban vet who prefers people who come once a year for shots a check up and put it on a charge card. There is a Banfield Pet clinic in the Petsmart on Traders way in Salem. It used to be that the local vet would be better than a vet at a Pet store. But it seems it’s the opposite. The Banfield Vet is attentive, caring and friendly. I just called Borash for a house call because my cat is sick and doesn’t like the carrier I need to get him to the vet. I called on a Wednesday for a price and and a time a vet could come out. No answer. Called Friday and they said the office manager doesn’t come in until Monday to give me a price and time. The lazy ass office manager Jackilyn says «Well maybe you should look at other options» I said I came to you because I thought you were reputable. It’s taken 5 days to get a price and a time. They clearly don’t want my business. That’s fine but when Banfield starts cutting into your profits you will remember me,

We’ve been coming here for the last 5 months to see Dr Southgate. He really takes the time to access your animals illness and best course of treatment. Even checkups he’s very thorough and listens to any concerns and answer’s any question with a well thought out answer. I like how he goes over everything with you and what he thinks needs to be done before doing it. Also it’s very much appreciated that he doesn’t take advantage financially. The vet techs are very friendly as are the girls at the front desk. I trust Dr Southgate and know he’ll take the best care of my animal’s. I highly recommend him!

This is a vet’s vet, and a true vet’s office. Always courteous and willing to see your pet immediately if you have an emergency. This is straight forward service, only doing what needs to be done. I brought my cat here when he was ill after another vet clinic turned us away because they wouldn’t do payment plans. I can honestly say that Dr. Borash and Dr. Hutchins care about the animal and are willing to work with their clients/​patients for the best of the animal’s health. My cat passed away, as he unfortunately had cancer and kidney failure, but I found the office to be supportive to my cat in his final days, always petting him and cheering him up; being very compassionate and humane. And they were supportive to me. Being new to the area, they were very understanding about my sadness regarding my pet’s loss. One of my other cats recently had an emergency with a cut paw and due to proximity, he was brought to another vet in Salem. What a mistake. Unecessary staples and stitches were done on his paw which became swollen, with a staple protruding from the paw. Aside from paying up the nose for that service, Dr. Borash came to the rescue and fixed my cat’s paw without charging a ridiculous rate for high quality work. I have thought about moving away from the area, and if I ever did, I would be heartbroken as this vet is amazing and I trust him and his staff with the health of my cats.

My husband and I own two Basset Hounds… one is 10 years old and the other is 5. We have been seeing a vet in Beverly (I’ll omit the name) for 10 years. He has been seeing our old girl since we first took her home 10 years ago. 1 month ago she was diagnosed with bone cancer (at Angell since our vet in Beverly didn’t have a clue) and the decision had to be made to give her some peace from the pain. We called our vet and let him know that she had lost the use of her back leg and we could not get her to the office so asked him if he could come to our home. We were told that he will not make a housecall. I was thoroughly shocked… after 10 years of treating this dog he couldn’t make the extra effort to give her a peaceful passing. So, I started making calls to mobile vets… and somehow I got the number for Dr. Borash even though he is not a mobile vet. I explained the situation to the receptionist and she immediately got the Dr. on the phone. He told me he could stop by our home before or after work and he would help us through this. I could not be more impressed with this Dr. He came to our home and treated our dog (whom he had never treated before) with such respect and compassion. And later in the day we received flowers from Dr. Borash and his staff! I truly wish we had met him 10 years ago. We will absolutely be using him for all of our future vet needs and also boarding needs. I highly recommend Dr. Borash!!!
