Not sure why the high rating or maybe past glory. Place claimed to have liquor but did not. Food was sub par. The veal dish I had was tough and chewy. Service was let’s just say cranky and unprofessional. Add a bit run down décor and you say why am I here again. Far better places to choose from.

We went last Saturday with a large group. We tried the filet mignon bruchetta, hot antipasto and stuffed artichokes. The bruchetta was amazing and the artichokes were as big as a man’s fist. Huge portions. I had eggplant lasagna and husband the shrimp and chicken parm. Both delish but huge portions. We brought over half of each dish home. Wonderful meal with friends.

Best Italian food in the area! Chicken parm sub is amazing, you have to substitute the marinara with vodka sauce! That sandwich is not made better at any other restaurant! You’ve been great for ever keep doing what you do!

How does anyone not love this place??? A tiny Italian joint that has the best stuffed artichokes! There seafood salad is on point. Wine selection blows, literally like red or white, but the portions are so huge you won’t think twice about the wine!

Went on a recommendation. The food was ok not the best Italian I’ve ever had. The portions are huge. Three stars because I asked for four different wines on there menu before they finally came back with one in stock. Maybe they are closing up for good not sure but. I can understand being out of one or two things but that’s a little out of hand. Place is dated not much ambiance.

The restaurant is cozy and casual(a bit outdated) but the service is warm and friendly. They serve quality Italian food at a reasonable price. The portions are large and the menu features mostly classics(oldies but goodies). Worth a visit and recommended. Remember to bring cash … Credit cards not accepted.

E & V is such a wonderful place to eat. They have fantastic Italian dishes and are quite affordable. The portions are overwhelmingly decorated with taste and love. I had the seafood risotto and seriously couldn’t believe how much seafood was in this dish! It was amazing. My boyfriend had the linguine with white clam sauce and he loved it. It had a nice, rich buttery taste but not too much over the top. It was perfection. The service is an A+. We felt very welcomed by the hostess as well as our waitress. We loved the family atmosphere which was quaint and warm. If you haven’t tried E & V, I highly recommend doing so. We will definitely be eating there again!

This place is definitely outdated but that’s not what attracts me to a restaurant. The servers were extremely warm and friendly. For starters I had the filet bruschetta I must say that the salad was better than the steak. For dinner I had chicken & shrimp parm & it was perfectly cooked. The shrimps were huge & crisp. The chicken was also juicy and crisp on the outside. Their marinara sauce was simple yet outstanding. Best part was their crusty warm bread to compliment the meal.

E&V is one of the best Italian restaurants in NJ and one of our favorite spots. The owners are old school and still do all the cooking. Trust me, come hungry and you will still take a home a doggy bag. The wait staff are all friendly and provide excellent service. Prices are also great. You will not be disappointed.

Went on a Friday night with my girlfriend about 7pm, had a reservation but it was not needed. The décor is kind of old but OK. Keep in mind that this restaurant seems to be known for fairly large portions. We started with the filet mignon bruschetta($ 11)and hot antipasto($ 12) The bruschetta was very good, well seasoned steak, very tender, with a nice field greens salad and bruschetta tomatoes on top served on garlic bread. 2 large pieces. However, the hot antipasto was not good at all. It consisted of mushy and flavorless stuffed clams and mussells, an average eggplant rollatine, and eggplant parm., and an «eh «stuffed mushroom. Probably get a better one from my local pizzeria. By now we were full, but wanted to try the entrees, so we ordered chicken scapperielli($ 16?)and veal modonese($ 18?). The chicken was good not great, had potatoes, peppers, onions, sausage, and hot cherry peppers. Big ass plate !!! Tasted like one I could cook at home, no wow factor. The veal modonese is egg battered(francese style) with prosciutto and mozzarella in a Marsala pan sauce. Pretty good !! I got like 8 medallions of veal that was nicely cooked(again. Large plate !!) Both dishes served with a good size side order of pasta. Overall, one good app, one bad, 2 good dinners, decent prices, and friendly waiter. Will try one more time for final decision.

I’ve been here twice. First time we didn’t realize that they don’t take credit cards(which, in this day and age, is very inconvenient). However, they do have an ATM machine(which charges a big fee) for your«convenience» if you forgot to bring cash. The service on our first visit was much better than our second visit. I went with family both times, and it’s really the luck of the draw on the wait staff. The woman we had the first time was very nice and attentive. The woman we had the second time seemed miserable and it was like pulling teeth to get anything(including what we ordered). The calamari and chicken parm were great, and my wife really enjoyed the cream in the cannolis(not a euphemism).

Always great! I’ve been coming here for over 25 years and it’s always good. Single portions are still what you would serve a small family! It’s been in business since 1967 so they must be doing something right. :-)

Apparently this place has been around a while. Who knew! I moved out of the area many years ago. E and V offers great New Jersey Italian food at a very resonable price. Large portions of high quality food. We started with a hot appetizer plate to share. Clams, mussells, eggplant, calamari, artichoke, mushrooms … It was great. I could have made a meal out of this. We also shared a salad. The veal Saltimbocca was delicious and very tender, the bread was hot and crisp. We shared some homemade desserts: a hot lava cake, tiramisu and a cannoli to go for my son. A few cappuccinos were ordered and enjoyed immensely. They also have a pretty good wine list as well as home made sangria. Eddie and the rest of the wait staff were very attentive and our table was waiting when we arrived. I can’t wait to go back when in Jersey again! BTW Cash only, they have an ATM.

I have searched tons of places in Paterson to try out and always have seen to come across this one, so today I figured why not give it a go. Can’t say that I’m glad with my decision though, went inside was greeted by a maitre d’ which was a plus asked if they offered take out, he told me yes but they don’t accept credit cards, showed me where the ATM was and also the private area to order take out. The ATM fee was only $ 1.85 which is a PLUS. The take out area lets you see everything in the kitchen basically through a window with the menus on the back wall, not very appealing site but moving on. Asked her how long my pasta meal would be she said FIVEMINUTES should have ran at the sound of that being as though I just walked in, anything pasta taking 5 minutes is not ideal. So fast forward to me opening my meal up back at work praying it tastes do-able and low and behold my prayers must have been too late because even with a dash of salt this is horrible. The pasta you can tell is either old or under-cooked & the shrimp don’t even look all the way done. I’m having stomach pains from just a few bites. Mad I wasted a good $ 20 but you live and you learn.

Very traditional home style Italian food. The kind of food your grandma would cook if you were Italian. They portions are large and meal was great. Only serve beer and wine. It a close to Woodland Park than Paterson proper. Worth the use of the GPS to figure out where it is.

I came here on a Saturday afternoon for my first ever visit. It’s the eve of the NYC Marathon and I wanted pasta but something more than just pasta. I chose the Filet of Salmon Marechiara. I did not know it came with clams and mussels so that was my first experience with those food items. The linguini was delicious. I ate slowly and carefully but I could not quite control sporadic sauce splatter. The waiters, who are mostly older gentlemen, checked in on me while Roy Orbison and Frank Sinatra played in the background. First, I received the bread then a garden salad, followed with the meal ordered and finally with an unexpected plate of fresh fruit slices. I had a pleasant time as did the younger group at one table and the three generations of a family at another.

4.5 Stars If you’re looking for classic NJ Italian; look no further. The portions are huge and the service is welcoming. Every meal starts with warm, fresh bread and unfortunately cold hard butter.(Hint: Want that 5th star E&V???) Any of the antipasti, shellfish, and anchovies(that’s right) make great appetizers to share. The prosciotto and fresh mozzerella isn’t the best you can find but it’s still good and again they don’t skimp on the portions. All of the salads are well dressed which is hard to say for most places. I usually get the Veal/Chicken parm as an entrée with linguini. Every component is great here: crispy edged, pan fried Veal/Chicken cutlets; «just chunky enough» red sauce, which isn’t over/under seasoned; good quality mozzerella(not fresh mozz here); and lastly al dente pasta, TOSSEDNOTTOPPED with red sauce. My only knock is on my most recent visit there was a good deal of watery sauce in my linguini(which comes on the side so no harm). It was a quick fix for the kitchen and waitstaff to handle. Don’t forget to bring some cash if your like me and never carry… cash only here.

Quality Italian food since 1967 at a reasonable price. Just keep in mind, they don’t accept credit cards. Tasty sauces, large portions, crusty bread and a good selection of wines at a reasonable cost. Strong dinner crowd and for good reason, the food here is really good. Chicken & shrimp parmigiana was exactly what I was looking for… Not an exotic Italian dish, but well executed. Kids portions were good and kids were satisfied. Bow tie pasta special was very good as well, as was the fried calamari appetizer.

Went here for a date night with my husband. There was no wait and it was a Friday night. We were promptly seated. The décor is outdated and in need of a renovation. That aside, we started off with a Caesar salad and fried calamari. The Caesar salad was huge and very good. The fried calamari were just average. Nothing special. My husband ordered chicken marsala which was also just mediocre. I ordered linguini with clam sauce which should have been named linguini oil soup. It was doused in a pool of oil. Also, there were no fresh clams on it. It looked like all chopped up clams out of a can. Very disappointing! I ended up sending it back because I just couldnt eat it with all that oil. I did not order anything else to replace it. We skipped dessert. The waitress took the linguini and clam sauce off of the bill. I don’t recommend this place. There are way better Italian restaurants in the area.
