D & L Heating & Cooling

I purchased my house back in 2001, so things are slowly starting to break. I’ve replaced little things, like a few appliances, sump pump and water heater. None of these items were as stressful, though, as finding that my air conditioning unit in the back had suddenly failed due, most likely, to a power spike caused by a major storm that killed a bunch of items in the house within a few weeks. I’ve since purchased a surge protector, but the air conditioning replacement worried the heck out of me.
After researching HVAC specialists in my area, I chose D & L Heating and Cooling based on reviews on Angie’s List (these were my pre-​Yelp years) and the BBB’s A+ rating. It’s always nice to hear positive experiences of others, but it’s even cooler to experience it yourself.
D & L replaced by air conditioning unit, the coils in the furnace and the run going between the two. I’ve also had the refrigerant topped-​off once or twice over the years, and even had an issue with a heat cut-​out valve in the furnace that needed to be replaced. Lastly, the blower motor in the furnace gave up the ghost and that was replaced at a reasonable parts and labor rate.
Each visit, they’ve happily put up with my crazy little dogs, and have always been considerate about calling back — even after hours — when there has been a problem. Not only do they call back, but they’re often willing to run through basic troubleshooting steps, just in case it’s operator error (is it turned on? is the filter super dirty?), or if maybe the circuits got a little weary and need to be reset. When you’re too cold, or overheated, it’s nice to know that there’s sometimes a simple solution to fix — or at least temporarily remediate — the situation.
Any type of home repair is at least a little bothersome, but two of the more annoying problems are heat failing in the winter and A/​C faltering in the middle of summer.
D & L puts a big sticker near the furnace so their name and number is always within reach. On this sticker, they also write down the dates of service, and a brief description of what they did, so you never have to remember. When I call them, I’ll think they were just out to replace something, and when I look at the date, it was two or three years ago since their last visit; it’s nice to have that history right there.
Overall, I’ve had great experiences with D & L, even though the experience of an HVAC failure is, in and of itself, not a very fun thing to go through when you’re a homeowner. I would highly recommend their services to anyone needing installation, repair, or system upgrading/​tweaking.
