Visited the winery after fourth of July, amazing property with a guest house and room for Harvest Host guests. Wines were pretty good :)

We stopped by this darling winery and I fell in love instantly. This place is so homey, and we were greeted by the sweetest this dog! The wine was delicious, the owner and her daughter were such sweethearts and fun to talk to. I will definitely be back!

Carol, the Owner was so gracious. Such a warming story, and so friendly. They were bottling so fresh pressed Olive Oil, which was really not ready, but she made it happen. Her story was amazing. The story of her Husband was impressive as were the Rings she shared with us. The wine you ask? It’s a must. If her wine is not available locally to our home, we will certainly call Carol up with a mail order. Tony and the Wine Wrangler really are a pair. This is what guests want, personality. Thanks Carol and Family. Brad and Wendy

We stopped by this beautiful winery during our tour with the wine wrangler. #1 the property is absolutely beautiful, and also has some interesting and exciting history to it. Another thing I loved it that they have a four bedroom house, that can be rented by room or as a whole, by wine purchases. For example, $ 600 in wine purchases you can rent the whole house, $ 125 in wine purchases you can rent a room midweek. There wine is make the old school way, in which it is unfiltered, which I absolutely love, and that’s what made this place special, oh and the owners are inland empire natives. Being from San Bernardino I instantly connect with you if you are from my area. They primarily have red wines, like Cabernet Sauvignon which is one of my favorites but also a delicious dessert wine such as the Muscat and a orange one which have 19% alcohol content, which is due to the fact there wines are unfiltered. I highly recommend this place, the owners are behind the counter we had the pleasure of having Carol as our server she was one of the most relatable and friendliest I have seen throughout all the wineries I was able to visit. Best wines I was able to taste !!!

A must visit! If you want a quaint winery with great reds this place is for you. Some of our favorites are Cabernet franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. We throughly enjoyed our visit. We had the opportunity to stay in the guest house which was just lovely. What a great place so welcoming. The winery animals were a delight as well. We must come back to visit during summer to enjoy Friday BBQ and music. Thank you Rio Seco for your hospitality! We will be back!!!

Such a pleasant place to stay and enjoy. The friendliness of the family make this winery a really special treat in the area. We were able to take advantage of staying in one of the cottages on a trek to the Mid State Fair.

If you are in Paso Robles you must visit Rio Seco. This family run vineyard and winery has a great selection of wines including their 2006MVP reserve. Tastings were $ 5 or complimentary with wine purchase. We received pretzels and chocolate covered cherries with our tasting. There is a nice picnic area outside the tasting room and according to the newsletter they also have music and bbq on Friday nights in the summer. It’s a great place to relax and enjoy the view while sipping on some wine. Plan to stay for a while or overnight. They even have a guest house where you can pay for your stay in wine purchases. If you’re looking for a unique experience off the beaten path, this is for you.

This is a fun little winery. The wines were mediocre but the people are friendly. I agree with other reviews saying this place could use a little help. But I’m All for helping the little man and these guys are little. They were nice enough to offer us food from their garden and a place to park our RV for the night. Great family.

Our friends have stayed at the Rio Seco guest house many times over the years and loved it. It’s like staying at your favorite aunt’s house. Carol, the owner is a sweetheart! She lovingly told us stories about her late husband’s baseball scouting career while we tasted their wines. What’s great is that you can stay in the guest house in exchange for buying wine! Win, win! They also had a chicken coop and you’re welcome to collect the eggs. We had the freshest eggs for breakfast. We had a BBQ at the guest house on the 2nd night and Carol’s daughter Katie & her husband hung out with us. They were a lot of fun. The only issue one of our friends had was that he left the sliding door open on their side during the BBQ and the moths kept flying in. It was pretty comical watching him try to catch and release these Mothras! He also got attacked by mosquitos. Poor guy. As for the wine, we purchased the Grand Slam and the 2007 Cabernet Franc. Their tag line is «Come as a friend, leave as family» and you really feel that way by the time you leave.

We enjoyed ourselves and the wine at Rio Seco, but I think this place needs a little help. There is much potential in their quaint tasting room amidst beautiful grounds; the wines were decent and also fairly priced. The lighting, however, kind of made the tasting room feel like we were in someone’s garage. The labels could use some updating — they kind of made the wine look cheap. I think there are plenty more charming spots on Union Road, like Bianchi, Steinbeck or Penman — maybe check those out instead.

Had a wonderful time tasting wines top to bottom with owner, Carol, and her dog Monty. Wines are good, especially the MVP, which I would say is an extremely good wine, and comparative to much higher priced/rated wines. The time spent was relaxed, and enjoyable, with a full pour of all their wines. One thing unique to this winery is you are tasting wines that have been cellared for four or five years, and now being brought to market. The grounds and views are amazing and as an added plus, they are part of «Harvest Host» that allows RV members to spend the night on the grounds. They also gave us a Union Road card that allowed for free tasting on Union Road, as well as a 10% discount. If you want, go to the glitzy wineries, but, this is true wine making experience at its best.

We visited this winery at the recommendation of my parents who visited a month ago. They had tasted the wine with Carol and loved the atmosphere and family feel of the place. My husband and I went on July 24 towards the afternoon and feel in love with it. We tried whites and reds and bought a few bottles. We came home with the clubhouse white and the MVP red. Definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great wine spot in Paso. We didn’t get to meet Carol but we met her daughter and grand daughter, such a great family.

LOVE Rio Seco. Seriously, what a great place to relax and get some SUPERYUMMYWINE with real down-home Paso folks. THEVENUE: It’s breathtaking, on a hill with a vineyard-ringed view. Better yet, they have live music and dinner on Saturday! Killer local bands, home-cooked bbq and clay-oven pizza. It really is a family winery and the view is pretty incomparable. THEWINE: Um, SOGOOD. I’d especially recommend the Zin, which was rich and spicy with a cinnamon kick. They also pour massive portions by the glass. THEBOTTOMLINE: Put Rio Seco on your list, seriously. This is a low-key winery, family owned and operated, a great place to unwind and live like a local.

Our second tour with Wine Wrangler took my husband and I to this wonderful winery and we cannot thank our tour guide enough! He gave us some history about the winery and building as we drove in and we could not wait to check this place out. Rain crashing down added to the charm of this winery and upon entering we were welcomed by one of the owners who just happened to be ever so charming. Along with meeting her, there were two great dogs and a huge cool cat. Not a cat person but I couldn’t help myself with this one. She starting pouring and we settled in at the bar and I could not help feeling we were in a really special place. I loved the Grand Slam and the Zinfandel #22 and MVP. This is where we had lunch and we were settled on a smaller table in between boxes of wine with the dogs at our feet and it was such a fantastic moment in time for us to feel it was our«winery» home away from home. She asked us if we minded the dogs being there, not at all. We still talk about that simple little lunch in an intimate setting.

3* for wine, 4.25* for atmosphere, 3.5* for tasting experience. We met with Carol, Tom’s wife(Tom’s the one who had the dream of moving to wine country and buying a vineyard). I should say Tom’s dream after baseball(if you go you’ll know what I’m talking about). Carol was very sweet and while it may seem a good idea to be sweet I didn’t feel we were being taken seriously enough to put any effort into describing the wines. None of them really stood out. Frankly it was all adequate but nothing special. The desire to show ports in this area kind of drives me crazy. Every time I’ve refused it always seems to get forceed on me. Luckily the fortified wine here was decent.

I absolutely love this place! It’s a mom & pop winery and guest center run by Tom & Carole & their family… including all the dogs and cats. They offer superior hospitality and good wine. You should definitely stop by whenever you’re in the area; they will make you feel right at home!

Great place to stop — small tasting room — and the family makes you feel right at home. The wines are great and you can learn quite a bit about the area. The also have a guest house you can rent — much better than a hotel! Will be back!
